...but I'm gonna throw ya under the bus!
I've only just now been able to respond to your comments as I have been up to my neck in Spring Cleaning. I've been working at a furious pace for what feels like three weeks now and my body is crying out for me to STOOOOP!
I've got a single box left of stuff that needs putting away aaaaand a bedroom closet that needs my attention. I'm so close I can taste it.
It's not just cleaning I've been remodeling. Redecorating. Restructuring. I've been working my damn ass off because frankly it's a LOT easier than waiting around for my book to get shipped. But last night I finally gave myself a chance to unwind. And found myself (of all things) playing with legos.
When I was a kid I got the "Lego Dark Forest Fortress" set and went to work putting it together. I think I was around 6 or 7. Prior to, I always needed help assembling lego sets, but this was the first one I tried to complete on my own. It was a miserable disaster.
I ended up in tears incredibly frustrated and feeling stupid. To this day certain dexterous tasks are entirely beyond my ken. But I have a problem with accepting defeat (I don't) so when the dust settled I went to work making my own version.
And (of course) that was the lego set I played with the most. I love toys. And my parental instincts kicked in when I was four. I've been saving toys like a dowry for years so I could pass them onto my offspring. This set was meticulously kept safe for as long as I was able.
Then dad tossed it into a bin behind my back along with everything else when he decided he was going to box up all of my entire room. There's a long long history of him doing that and he has never once gotten away with it unscathed (it's about consent, Dad!)
While cleaning I spotted pieces of the set and decided then that when the time was right I'd indulge in some adolescent regression and rebuild my beloved set. Although this time I have to say with my sense of aesthetics considerably honed I can say it's even better than it was.
I'm 31 years old and god damn it I'm gonna break out the figures for it tonight.
And who knows? Maybe I'll swap Robin Hood's head for Mary's and we'll have a Feminist band of Merry Trans!
STAY TUNED Space Coven! I'm gonna give y'all a tour of my new space next week! <3
