Here are all the comics I did for the CA folks earlier this year. I have the unsettling suspicion that they're being scrapped (at least I got paid though) since they initially wanted them for April and "Tax Season" is now something of a vaporous concept.

We finally got ours done this week. I wrote in the email to our accountant:

"With my ADHD I have no doubt that there are mistakes and omissions that I'm failing to account for, please keep me posted if there's  anything that will land me in prison."

I will pay my taxes, of course. I'm not against taxes. But it's like pulling teeth. I object to how the American government chooses to allocate that money, and of course it's no small weight the thought of what's-his-name still not having paid any...

I got nightmares working on these strips as I researched the mega wealthy men behind them. It occurred to me that—should I damage any of these asshole's egos—they could squash me and my family like bugs without batting en eye. No problem.

Yes, I think it's honestly more than people's minds can handle to see how much money a billion dollars is, especially in the US where we're taught that they are better than us. I'm so glad people are working on educating people about it. These are really good! I hope they run them anyway. Time is so wibbly right now, who cares that it's not tax season?

EXACTLY. Honestly I really did assume for the longest time that billionaires must have something that I don't. Must be superior somehow. I carried that for a long time, but not only are they physically just like everyone else? I'm so tired of seeing them leech off our capitalist system that I truly struggle seeing them as anything but LESS THAN. It's a real challenge not to succumb to my rage.

Yes, it's so easy to get enraged, argh! But eradicating the socialization that rich people are inherently better is so important.

This is going to sound weird (maybe?) but now more than ever love, laughter, and joy are by far our most powerful tools. Pain is justifiable and unavoidable. But suffering is optional and I have to confess I really am dismayed by all the bullying I'm seeing.

Can I just say? I kinda hate that 95% of the commissions I do involve drawing portraits of white men. I'm like that line from Talking Heads How did I get here???

I'm so outraged by these people and yet? these comics are not my style at all. If they asked me to produce more I'd decline. Demonizing people is simply not something I personally can get behind. And if I'm being honest I never feel good about it.

Not weird, just different from me. Your perspective reminds me of some Buddhist inspired stuff I've read. I'm sorry you've been seeing upsetting stuff, there's big emotions all around. Much love!!

Buddhism has rubbed off on me a lot. I read Tezuka's 8 volume epic Buddha, then immediately began reading it again (I'm on book 5) and though the series is problematic the teachings themselves really resonated with me. Prior to, I was studying Mindful Self-Compassion which (of course) is based on Buddhist philosophy/practice so...there ya go. I'm a giant hippy that eats people.

These are very good. Which is an interesting thing to say, when the situation they are doing a really good job of describing is really bad. I hope that you drawing them can somehow help us all in fixing all this, so that you can draw trees again, and so that there are trees to draw., or artists to draw trees...

Thank you! That's really great to hear from you since they had me write the comics as well. It would've been a lot easier to just illustrate them. I think each comic had at least four different drafts haha
