November 12th 2018 was when I began work on this piece.

590 days later, I finished it.

This is—in fact—the last wood carving I ever made.

Still haven't given it a name (no jokes/suggestions please!) It's not a working cane but rather a ceremonial one, designed to be held while seated. Ideally while telling stories.

I can't tell you how many times I injured myself from carving. How many times I pushed through the pain to my own detriment.

I used what I had, which for a long time was a dull box cutter. There was a lot of stress and strain to my tendons that might've been avoided had I a tutor, lessons, or better tools.

I'd still be willing to use a carving knife to make a wand. But as it stands I must prioritize my health, and so it may be that my carving days are over. I'm okay with that.

This effectively triples (if not quadruples) the value of the pieces I have made.

If you own one consider yourself lucky!

Oooh, I love it! Things like that are definitely more precious to me now that I can't do as much as I used to.

I'm glad you like it, thank you! Honestly I don't think I'll miss the carving all that much - but we'll see!
