7 months in, five to go.
The feedback we got with the last round of game testers was overwhelmingly positive, but the few critical notes we received made me smirk.
A solid number of players felt the game could be more challenging. This made me grin because their trial game only lasted one week, just enough time to win a prize.
...Had I asked folx to commit a solid month? I would've had few takers.
It's true the basic game contains no obstacles or adversaries. Because the system was built with Disabled players in mind, everything last detail is adjustable. It's not meant to be challenging really, organizing a space consistently is hard enough. It's designed to make it easier.
However the REAL challenge is continuous play. To regularly communicate, listen to your body, and modify/adapt your own energy and passion.
Alex and I are now seasoned Space Captains.
We began our voyage struggling to prioritize boring everyday chores, and as a result would create much more stress for ourselves when mess became unavoidable. We'd often lose entire weekends just scratching the surface of the chaos.
Now? Though we remain talented at creating mess, we are less stressed and much more disciplined with our response. Nobody gets nagged or builds up resentment, we just play the game. <3
