...Otherwise I'll save it for the grand-finale! In the meantime here is the updated description for my profile. It's a bit lengthy but it's totally honest and (I think?) throughly details exactly what I'm going to do if I get enough funding:
Thank you for watching my video here is The Battle Plan in full:
The Immediate:I want to keep comics free, and especially keep them ad free. The temptation to use ad based revenue is pretty high - I've even gotten close to installing Google AdSense. These are perfectly reasonable means of accumulating revenue that tons of great artists rely on.
EXCEPT I HATE ADS. I hate them so much. YUCK.A big part of donating is keeping my work uncluttered by gross ads.If I could get money for advertising companies that I cherry pick that would be one thing? but that's not how it works. I'd have no control over it.
The Short Term:Teaching classes in my community. I'd love to volunteer my time to teach comics classes after school - of even just speaking about my comics at queer youth groups. I've already scheduled two events in 2017 but the only reason I agreed to do them is because I'm getting paid. If I was making enough per month I'd volunteer my services for free!
Commissions. I've turned down a number of commissions because there is simply no way for me to work on the comics I want to AND do commissions AND have a day job. The ability to accept these commissions would provide a much needed cushion for emergencies, gas, bills etc.Mid Term:Books, conventions, anthologies. I love my online readers but the simple fact is that most folks prefer to hold their comics in their hands. My initial books would likely be collections of my queer comics. I'd then revisiting "Nothing Guady" and expand it so it's at least a 30 page book!
I'd like for Orcs vs Feminism to enjoy a relaunch on its very own website. It's not a perfect book by any means but I feel it deserves to be read in a larger format. Wouldn't mind an upgrade of my own website too but that's up for debate seeing as how most people view my work through Tumblr.
Long Term:Four novels right off the bat: Emily in Space, Dragon Sword, Dino Damage: Our Outrageous Queer Wedding, and Suicide are four graphic novels that I'd love to create. They'd live their lives as webcomics and then eventually be published into books. I'm going to begin working on Dino Damage in 2018 regardless but I'm not going to start any of these other projects until I have the funding.
That's not my ego talking it's just a matter of logistics. It makes more sense to create smaller comics that I'm paid for than to focus entirely on an unpaid novel length work that may or may not go anywhere.
Read my blog for a description of these novels!
