America different they do a kit the same day . She had all the evidence. Police would try an make arrest especially if they know who did it . But great episode. Everything on the line now . This is peak Dexter.

Thanks Evie - you spun out a slew of ways ahead and I can't think of anything to add. The nugget I hold onto is that there is a season 3!

I feel like yelling "It's all your fault and always will be" at LIla.

Dexter is HIM

Janet

The first time I watched this I really thought Lila would figure out a way to use Doakes to get to Dexter. I should have realized there is only one episode left, not enough time for any of my ideas

Tom

We should definitely go back to flip phones. I miss them just as much as you.

22:17 "In the long run it'd be easier on Deb. And Rita." I just divided finished your season two reactions last night, and this line jumped out at me. I wanted to wait for you to post your season four finale reaction before pointing it out. Had Dexter not been selfish, done the right thing here by freeing Doakes and turning himself in like he was considering, Rita would still be alive, and her kids would still have a mother.

If you waited for her reaction to S4 finale, why then didn't you post the comment there instead of here, where it spoils stuff two seasons ahead for people who are watching along with this (like me)? Add to that that your logic is tragically flawed: We can never know for sure what's going to happen in the future, and the further ahead we look, the more uncertain it gets. I don't know what amount of time the seasons are supposed to represent, but I'd guess each season is about a year, or at least half a year. So S4 finale is happening at least a year after this episode here. How is anyone supposed to forsee what going to happen there? On the other hand, forseeing what is likely to happen immediately after Dexter is arrested as a serial killer is easy: Deb is in an even worse situation than with her boyfriend, not recognising a killer she's spent her whole life with, and now without the only person who (according to herself) kept her from spinning out. Rita (and the kids) will be devastated, her life likely ruined once more. It's the very points Dex brought forward when he first considered framing Doakes, and explained to him in the cage. So, all in all, all you might achive by changing the story like you're proposing might be that Rita died two seasons earlier, be it by accident due to being distraught or on purpose ending her life after that revelation. Always be careful trying to go down "what if" roads ...
