As you saw, Henri Christian was actually the one that died in the books. All of us hated that Fergus died, but if you take a breath and calm down, you might understand why they did what they did. If HC died, Fergus would have blamed himself...again and probably would have spiraled down thinking that he was never good enough. This way, he was the hero, who saved all of his children and gave his life for them. It was a much better conclusion to his story. Ceasar Domboy (Fergus) said in an interview that the powers that be explained what they were thinking to him before the season started filming and he was thrilled that he got to complete his story arc this way. As far as the Faith storyline goes, I think it will come to a satisfactory ending. We just need it to play out over these last few episodes.

Fergus does not die in the books. Faith was stillborn in the books. She did not miraculously survive. None of the show invented Faith storyline makes any sense. Most of the fandom is upset over episode 807. We shall see how they tie all this up in the next three episodes.

I understand that this is a made up story and there are bound to be plot holes but surely when they went to the wine merchant (Jamie's cousin) to find Claire, he simply would of sent Jamie & Claire a letter saying your daughter is still alive. Even if the letter went to Jenny & Ian at Lallybroch they could of passed the message on.

Hi Evie ! This one was so terrible to watch...I feel you. And the montage...I hate them. 😭😭😭
