I concur that Vogel is a bit of a poison pill in this situation. Not only in her poor reasoning regarding her son, but her unwillingness to entertain the fact that Dexter doesn't fit her smug conception that a psychopath can't make real emotional connections (re: Dexter/Hannah and Dexter/Deb)
