In this episode you had a glimpse on h how it is Damon behind the wall of badass, unfeeling persona he pretend to be and the fact that Elena gets him and that she trust him at the point of letting herself go to be totally carefree and have fun. But Damon is not someone you can betray and get away with and Brie wanted him dead, so he killed her. I know it was because of Lexi and we all love Lexi but Damon had his reasons to kill Lexi and not to like her.... No worries everything will be explained, This show is a giant puzzle and with every each episode they will give you a little piece for you to make the connection and every single thing will be clear and will make sense. So basically Stefan kind of stalked her for months laying to her all this time keeping the truth about her for himself....🤔

Yeah .... retrospectively it's kind of f*cked up that he DID KNOW she was adopted and didn't tell her. At the time of watching the episode I kind of assumed he had just learned about it and now told her... but I realized after that he must have known all along (well as soon as he realized she wasn't katherine) And it's crazy that adoption never crossed my mind because I really thought her resemblance with katherine would be explained mystically like maybe she was the reincarnation of Katherine or something ahahha my mind went everywhere EXCEPT for adoption which is basically the most likely explanation ahahahha.... oh well :) Don't worry, I am so not worried about my questions, I know they will be answered eventually and I like it, that's what makes it so great!!!!!

Adoption opens up to possibilities and speculation, that she might be of the same bloodline, but it doesn't explain, yet, the fact that Elena is such a dead ringer for Katherine ...let's see what is the actual explenation... 😊

Elena: It's OK. We met, and we talked, and it was epic, but...then the sun came up and reality set in...Take a break from your life for five minutes... Elena: Elena: I would write..."Dear diary, today I convinced myself it was ok to give up. Don't take risks. Stick with the status quo. No drama, now is just not the time. But my reasons aren't reasons, they're excuses. All I'm doing is hiding from the truth, and the truth is that..." I'm scared, Stefan. I'm scared that if I let myself be happy for even one moment that...the world's just going to come crashing down, and I...don't know if I can survive that.

To add to Papet's points...Breaking down the episode you see first that Damon saved Elena from a car accident, and saving her life as a vampire walked up to her. This is actually the second time that Elena has saved Damon's life due to killing Lexi, the first was Stefan that night that it took place, and this time now. So we have have both Damon and Elena saving each other, prior to the end when she learns that Stefan saved her life from the first car accident that killed her parents. This is really the first time in the show that we see Elena having fun and being carefree, while at the same time we see a different side of Damon as well, all right after the big bomb being revealed concerning her appearance in relation to Katherine. The ending is interesting in paying attention to the scene that takes place, concerning Stefan's character. We see Elena coming in all angry concerning her and Katherine? Does he really answer the impertinent questions though that are being asked? What is Elena to Stefan? Who is Elena to Stefan? Why does he love her and decided to stay to stalk and make sure she wasn't "Katherine?" All he states and answers really, is she is not Katherine..... Instead he does another large emotional information dump on her after the big bomb shell of the prior day, when already in an emotionally vulnerable position. What does this big emotional bomb shell reveal, it deflects her anger at him, and turns into instead shocked emotional sadness, while adding the next big bombshell of being adopted. Then he basically states: it doesn't matter matter you are the woman that I love. Are the questions really answered though? Those one's at the beginning when she was angry? The one's that should really matter, are they really being answered for her? What is Elena to Stefan? Who is Elena to Stefan really? Yet, none of these matter because she is the woman he loves. She is in a very vulnerable position emotionally when he actually lays that I love you on her, and in many cases perfectly manipulated emotionally. The Katherine matter I can understand why he hid that from her, yet the rest of the information? Why hide that from her? It could have easily been told, his rescuing her from the car accident much sooner, and even her being adopted much sooner? Why wait for this moment in time to reveal these truths? What took place during the rest of the episode? Who was she with? Matt: Hey. I'm not saying this for you. I'm saying it for her. But she's big on trust. So whatever you're holding back from her, the more you try to hide it, the more she won't stop till she figures it out.
