Another movie that I love! Can’t wait to watch it when I’m off work

'My name is 'Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!' I loved him so much! Such a quirky film and yet somehow it works. This is my daughter's favourite film and one she is likely to watch often like a comfort blanket. It has a bit of a cult following.

Evie, this movie is a classic and you got it exactly with the blend of humor with the tenderness and action. I’ve heard that families watch it every year at Christmas. In the scene where she fell in the quicksand and he jumped in after her, the hydraulic machine didn’t work properly and they were under the sand longer than they were supposed to, so when you see them coming out gasping for air, that was real. In other movies or shows, if someone is thinking about revenge, you might here someone saying “Hello, my name is Indigo Montoya, you killed my father… prepare to die. There are some great quotes from this movie. You might here someone yell “INCONCEIVABLE!!” or say “As you wish” I’ve also heard that some couples have been married and the person who married them started by saying the “Mawwaige” line. Robin Wright who played Princess Buttercup was Jenny in Forrest Gump. She was also on the show House of Cards. Carey Elwes who played Westley has been in Twister, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Liar Liar and played the mayor in Stranger Things and other shows and movies. The really big guy was Andre the Giant. If you watched the end credits that’s his name with his picture. He was a famous French wrestler who branched out into movies and TV because of his size. He was 7’ 4” and weighed 520 lbs. His hands were measured at 16” As always, great reaction and look forward to more 😊

Evie, I had to watch this reaction when I don't usually watch your movie reviews, but hadn't watched Princess Bride in a long time. You were precious. I'm so glad I watched. Thank you for a lovely time.

What a fabulous reaction to one of my favourite movies! I have a lot of favourites, but this one is right up there! You hit the nail right on the head when you were saying that it was almost like they were parodying fairytales. Because it was definitely an homage to fairytales, old swash-buckling pirate movies, and just classic children's adventure stories. The movie does an amazing job of taking audience expectations regarding those kinds of stories and turning them on their head a bit, while still honoring the genres and the audience's love for those stories. A great example of this is when The Albino first talks to Wesley and Wesley asks, "Where am I?" The Albino answers in a super gravelly, monster-ish kind of voice - "The Pit of Des-pair! Don't even think -" and then he just clears his throat and talks normally! 😄 Cracks me up every time. Cause as an audience we've come to expect something like that voice to come out of that kind of character. It's just genius. 😍 The "ma-wwige" speech makes me laugh every time too. Peter Cook is "The Impressive Clergyman" (literally the character's actual name! 😁) and he's so perfect. I'm not sure how they all got through that scene. That speech is definitely quoted in a lot of pop culture, as is the "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." That whole scene with Inigo and Rugen is SUPERB! Anyway, I've rambled once again. This was wonderful, and lots of fun to watch with you. 😊

Loved this! Hey Evie, I was just thinking about the book and show "Normal People" and would LOVE for you to react to it. I think you would love it, it's so well-acted and just do well-done. I think it's around 12 episodes long or so. It's on Hulu here in the US, not sure where you can watch it in Canada. Merci for considering it!

EveV

I can see why :)

I was so disappointed in me when I googled Buttercup after and realized she was Jenny and I didn't recognize her lol but yes this was a good one I really liked it! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed Bev! :)

I'll look into it! :)
