Boomer's Big Dinner - Cover (WIP) (Patreon)

Throwing in a WIP version and a textless alt!

I'm a little constrained with my commentary here because I don't want to spoil where the story goes, but yes, as I teased here and there over the last two years, I've been really wanting to make a comic where Boomer meets Miles' parents, I feel like it's a scenario that's ripe for comedy and a logical next step for the two after making their relationship official.

I figured that was a fitting "end" for the characters if my job didn't allow me to make anything big with them again, but it still left things open to do a followup some day, and here we are. I have in fact not done a proper comic with these two since 2021 which feels insane to me. But enough time has passed that I have plenty of fresh ideas for the two.

I did the design for Miles' dad last year for Father's Day, but tweaked it here and there since then (I made him a bit short compared to Boomer, the fluff on his sides of his face make his head look rounder, etc.). I notice by sheer coincidence his outfit here looks a bit like Alfonso's from the end of Outclassed 2... Keep in mind, I finished Outclassed 2 way ahead of time in September to buy me the time to work on Same Time Next Tuesday, then started this comic in January and did the cover last month, so in those 5 months I forgot about what the last page of Outclassed 2 looked like until posting it last week and I went, oh, I may have messed up. I hope people don't notice!

As for Miles' mom? She will show up too! And I'm having a lot of fun with her as a character, both writing and drawing her, but when it comes to the cover, I feel like including her would have made the composition here too messy. There's very little room for Miles in between the other characters and having a second one there would mean pushing the other two further out, and not showing the background properly to establish they're in a restaurant.
