I figured having this scene in Joe's car would add a little layer of comedy to the scene (and set up another joke later) because even though I'm taking the relationship drama seriously (I think I nailed Miles' expressions in the last page), THE BALLS ARE STILL THERE THE WHOLE TIME. I just cut away from them in the panels where the conversation gets the most serious. We can assume Miles was putting everything away and stopped when the conversation got tense and just forgot to take them down from the rearview mirror.

As you might have picked up this last panel is how I figured I'd connect the "Miles loses his job" and "Boomer meets Miles' parents" plots. I originally had these two as separate ideas years ago that could maybe make for two fun BMZ arcs at some point, but I figured there was enough meat in the concept to make a big comic out of it, and one could be used to raise the stakes for the other.

Aww The head *scitch* may be one of my favorite parts of the whole comic so far.

Also, glad B is at least addressing the possibility of talking to Z about having Miles move in. Part of me wonders if Zoomer would actually mind or if Boomer is just being overly cautious

This! 100% this. And Boomer is such a good guy.

Mike Ryan

You nailed the expression.
