Boomer's Big Dinner - Page 31 (WIP & .clip) (Patreon)

Obviously with a premise like this Xavier and Boomer would have some alone time, which means Miles and his mom need to have a separate subplot so they're not just waiting on their partners. Like I said last week, this little wine incident was a little more compact in the original script but I needed more room in the page(s): originally page 30 would have ended with Boomer climbing up the stairs with Xavier. That left this little extra room at the bottom of the page to set up this Jenny and Miles subplot.

It also freed up some real estate on the page (but very narrowly, I did have to extend panel 2 a little more downwards making it overlap with panel 4's speech bubbles) to fit in this line establishing that Boomer went out of his way to buy clothes for the occasion, which I didn't have the room to fit in later in the script. It's a small detail that helps to sell that Boomer is TRYING so I'm glad I didn't have to leave it out.
