Slowly, Sheva & Claire's actually professional relationship gets more and more out of control, just like the target out of their sight...

Status Update

Just a quick update today, as it's not easy with my Persistent Evil 2 project at the moment. Somehow I'm in a bit of a production hell rn.

Due to the long runtime of the video, I've been going over and over the script too often, as well as the animations, where some poses have been taken out or put back in. I've also somehow lost track of which voice recordings are actually already finished and which parts of the script that have been rewritten too often still need to be recorded.

I now urgently need to tidy up and find out where I stand.

Hopefully, though, the little Witcher animation challenge has given me a new way to handle such big projects. I've realised how much more fun it is to complete projects in a short space of time. Unlike long project phases, there's no danger of having to touch and change things over and over again.

That's why I now want to try to complete parts of PE2 piece by piece. For example, the first 3-4 minutes including the final cut and audio production and not, as before, first record all the dialogue, then all the animations, then all the filler audio recordings, then all the lighting, all the rendering, all the audio design etc.

This will hopefully give me more variety in my work, a greater sense of achievement and fewer reasons to change things.

A bit like PerfectDeadbeat does with his animations, for example.

Of course, this also means that I would have the VAs recorded much more frequently and less much per commission, but that shoulnd't be a big deal hopefully.

And of course that would also mean that I would have something to show you more often. The only question is if you would like it, if you already know 90% of a film when it's released.

Would that be a negative thing for you or would it not really matter?

I'd love to hear your feedback on this, since I am really not sure about the right way here.🤔

I'll finish for today. The project spring clean starts tomorrow.

Whatever makes your life easier. I’ve never had a problem with spoilers.

Yea knowing most of the film is fine by me as long as we get a treat on a regular basis hehe 😏. I hope you don't overdo yourself. stay strong King!

Black Jack

Plis another project with rape for Triss 🫡🫡🫡🫡

MincedMeat

Quite proportional 👌👌

The Devil You Know

With the near seamless transitions you put in for the animations of the Witcher project I definitely don't mind.

PD7748

I try to go blind without your new WIP clips like how I avoided movie trailers for upcoming movies I want to see blind. But either way I'm fine with showing little pieces scenes of PE2 :)

Sébastien Guyot

I'm the patient type. I can wait until it's finish.

I think the smaller parts for a project really work out best for everyone. Rikolo has been doing this and at the end combines the project. This way you can work on stuff in between.

Slay Sanchez

I think you are on a good path in your work, I hope for good things as you have always done.

NoxNoire

I'm sure everyone agrees if I say we want to see your awesome work for many more years to come. And if splitting things up into smaller pieces helps you keep going, then go ahead and do that. The alternative would probably be eventual burn-out, which isn't good for anybody, especially you. As already mentioned, release smaller videos and just combine them at the end.

OB80

You do you. But personally I'd prefer it all in one finished product.

I love watching the whole movie in one go. Piece by piece is just a tease to me. So seeing a full movie get released and being able to watch it all at once and be surprised and excited throughout is such a good feeling. But if splitting it up makes life easier for you I would understand if you went that direction with it. But seeing updates like this to know what’s going on is enough in my opinion. That way I know it’s going to be big when I comes out. I’m sure someone has mentioned Rikolo and yes they do split works but at the same time it doesn’t hit the same spot watching it because you get to the end and it cuts before the next sequence and all you want is the next thing. Especially in your work. I would die if the action is going and then it shifts to a more aggressive position or segment and it cuts right as it’s about to change over. That would kill me inside.

3DFan

Too many teases can hurt sometimes, but I do like to be teased with photos only instead of clips. If you released thing but made the title something like part 1/? , part 2/? I would be happy to wait for the full release instead of watching each part at a time.

CodeMonkey3DX

Do what you need to do to center your chi. Burning yourself out serves no useful purpose. I am content to wait as long as necessary to get your best work. It's always worth the wait. If doing the movies in pieces keeps you sane then by all means do so.

James Corlette

I mean, it's crazy we got Miranda in Charge 2 and Golden Grain Aftermath before PE2. So whatever you did with those two, just do that going forward.

Maker6886

I like PerfectDeadbeats works But it has bin over 3 years since his last full realise just little teases without the sound its only half the work without the moaning slaping and talking

Nö

Yeah full release is better.

DesireSFM

Also true. If in doubt, I can finish parts of the film for my eyes only. Then there's less pressure to act and more opportunity to make changes, but it's definitely worth a try.

DesireSFM

The Witcher will probably continue outside the tavern when the time comes. 😉

DesireSFM

Ok, I want to avoid that at all costs.😅 Of course, you can appeal to yourself and deliberately not watch these small releases. But you're definitely right that many would lack the punch in the final release.

2026-09-06 23:00 Des, As a fan, I can wait for the full release, or just have the WIPs or make the movie in small parts. It's your call. I think for your followers "the way" you deliver your work doesn't really matter. If you are pressuring yourself to deliver more content in a short space of time maybe you could work 2 days of the week on small projects and every month you could deliver a short clip like the GG AFTERMATH because you would have 8 days of work (2 days per week) to focus on short animation, then the longest project you would have 12 days per month to work. Every month you could release 1 or 2 short animations and you will work on your larger project without pressure. I think it's a fair amount of time.

Yes someone could deliberately not watch the small releases but who has that sort of willpower when they see a video post from DesireSFM? I sure don’t have that kind of willpower to just ignore it.

From a development standpoint, there are definite advantages to doing sprints to knock out smaller chunks of a larger project. I, personally, would probably wait to watch until the final, full release but am supportive of whatever process works for YOU to get there in the end. As long as you continue to communicate and drop some sort of WIP/content (be it stills, GIFs, or 3-5 minute animations), it’s all good. Hell, you could also consider doing potentially lower-quality shorts that are not a part of the project and are previous models or flights of whimsy/lust just to break things up on your end while the longer project cooks.

To echo the thoughts of others, I fully support artists doing whatever they need to in order to not burn out and to be able to still take joy in their work. Capitalism's commercialization of art and the pressure to profit lead to pressure to keep grinding, cranking out artwork like a factory worker and I imagine it sucks the joy out of it. I personally probably wouldn't watch the smaller segments and just wait for the full version, but I am just fine with your doing it in pieces if it works better for you. Take care of yourself.

DesireSFM

Interesting thought. On the other hand, I know myself and I know that I always find the latest project the most exciting and then only start the old one again when the new one is finished.

Lady Abysso (Patron)

As an artist, I understand xD But Des try to do what is best for you. If you want to release PE2 and your other big projects piece by piece I don't care :)

These might be unrealistic as options but: You could release it in parts, but with different endings, or beginnings, so that they actual feel different story wise Maybe even change the environment and how it reacts if that can be easily done. Maybe dampen some of the special effects so that when the full movie comes out they hit much harder Or maybe changes in the voice acting where it makes sense

Daniel Williams

Whatever motivates you to get more updates out, I would say. If people don't want to watch until you're done with the whole thing that can be on them.

Slyper9x

I would say, for major projects that pass 6-8min split in chapters.. then the final chapter can merger all the previous parts and the final part. Eg seeing golden grain was just a little under 39min. If it was split into 6 chapters with 5-7min per chapter and ending each chapter on a transition part, maybe it would be more manageable seeing that your focusing on each chapter of the whole arc.

DesireSFM

One possible idea. But then of course you would also have to rewrite the scripts accordingly. In PE2, for example, I don't really see such a point for an Interruption since it wasn't planned.

Slyper9x

Oh yeah.. i get that. It was meant for future BIG projects on that scale. PE2, I think is too far along to make changes

Latisha Stewart

Alot of the videos I can't watch. The free mega says memory not enough. I don't want to purchase the monthly sub.

Latisha Stewart

Is there another link or way to watch them?
