Hi everyone,First let me thank you so much for your tremendously great feedback on the preview video. It gave my motivation a huge boost (if it needed any)! Also you provided  really helpful feedback and suggestions for improvement. A result of that you can see a feedback-implementation in the gif above. :-)For Tier 1&2 backers: I will release the preview to you on 20. December, when Netflix will launch the Witcher-Series.The thing with the render-times

Now to the not so good news. Bomyman's lighting imo is a huge improvement to the looks of Corruption 3. I probably could never go back to my old noobish lighting (and I won't). But it comes at a cost: A dramatic increase of the rendertimes. May you already noticed, that the preview only had 30 frames, but the final movie of course should have 60 fps. The reason, why I chose 30 frames is, that otherwise I wouldn't have been able to release the preview in time. If I calculate correctly, now one minute with 60fps of content needs about 26-28 hours of rendering time. Considering the final runtime and possible rerenders, I calculate with a total rendertime of approx. 550 up to 650 hours. Which means, the movie needs almost one month alone for the rendering, if the PC runs 24/7. 😬I now consider to buy a second hardware-setup, so that I could work while rendering. But still this is a lot of time. Also finishing the preview-animations to a close-to-final-state took me more time than expected and was kind of exhausting, even if I took vacation from RL-job (Steam says, 176 hours in the last two weeks - incl. approx. 50 hours rendering at night). Which is why I now have to calculate with a release not before February 2020 or maybe  even March  (hopefully not).  😑

It nearly is breaking my heart to tell you that. And as a little excuse for this new delay I plan to pause patreon-charges for you in January to make the wait a little easier for you.  Sorry, sorry, sorry!

i know i don't mind waiting a bit longer for something that looks this good

mcfall

And "maybe" in six months we will see. New year's gift is cancelled. But we'll still be here.

TMac

Please, I humbly request that you not suspend my Pledge in January. Having experience with this myself, I understand the time involved and have no problem continuing to back you while the machines work. It will still cost you money to run them, and I have no problem waiting for the finished product to be done right. Thank you.

marm

breaks my hard too. XD Nah man take ur time, make it good and long.

Embers

i don't mind paying in January. I dont mind if you start an indiegogo to buy a better PC/Laptop for background rendering or something.

JohnboyX

Uff not an easy pill to swallow that the final release has to be delayed that much ^^; . Then again how did Gabe Newell once say: "These things they take time" so I can understand and honestly wouldn't even mind to continue my support without break to help you get that second hardware setup °__^ .

Elmer Fudd

The point of being a patron is to help support you through all points of the process. You have been very communicative and still been giving us little preview images, wallpapers, gifs and then that multi minute deliciousness. It’s part of why I didn’t alter my pledge to you during my most recent bout of artist culling. I would prefer to still support you in Jan, even with the delay. A delay, I might add, that is caused by you doing something that is improving the quality of the final product for multiple projects to come.

Everyone here is being super-supportive, and I want to be too. But since you’re getting all this support, there are a few questions I want to ask. I really, really want to see you keep making longer movies, your my favorite 3D animator in the world right now. But I just don’t know enough about what this means in the long haul. Is this draining for you, as a single person doing all this yourself? Do you think you can burn out at some point? Does hiring Bomyman mean you plan to expand your operation Now, maybe start your own studio or something?

Krimog

Hi. Have you thought about cloud rendering solutions? I don't really know the prices and performance, but I guess it might be cheaper than a second PC.

FoggyKernel

Don't stop my payments :-)

Ugh, hit the entry key too quickly. I have only recently come to find this genre (SFM-style animation, game mods). I have never been a heavy gamer, but I am very fascinated with CGA and have been since the early SIGGRAPH days. Plus, of all of these videos, yours, by far, is one of the most detail, scripted and erotic. Having only recently gained an interest in gaming engines like Steam, I find this work really, really interesting. Looking forward to the final, 60fps image when it is complete. Keep up the good work!

WHAT! Don’t pause the charges! I totally understand that with this kind of work that deadlines shift constantly (I’m a game dev...). Take your time - both in RL and work. Your work speaks for itself and I don’t mind spending a little more in January for it!

StevenCarson

I am extremely pleased to know that other patrons liked your project, because I, too, was worried about you about the reaction. :-) As for the rendering time and the fact that the release may happen in March 2020 - I personally think that there is no problem. Your animations are the best and the quality that you make is amazing and worth the wait. With the latest wip, you convinced me even more that this project was worth the wait. I would really like to support you in January. Therefore, please do not suspend the billing cycle. This money can help you upgrade \ buy a new PC and cover the associated costs. Plus, I just think that you deserve everything that you get. I express my sincere gratitude for what you are doing.

Rhuidean

Take your time, m8. Happy to wait for such fine work.

Frank Celestino

Totally understandable and please continue charging so that we may continue to support you. Regarding hardware and rendering, what are the specs on your current rig? CPU, GPU, etc. As someone mentioned above, there is an option to outsource rendering to a render farm. See link below for info: https://www.easyrender.com/3d-rendering/best-render-farms As for your rig, I'm a hardware enthusiast and I'm sure others here are as well. I would be happy to assist in building a custom rig for rendering should you choose to go that route.

I'm all ok with it. I don't mind if it takes 3 months. I am person that favors quality over quantity. Everyone anymore wants things hear and now with no interest in the finer things in life. Its sad really... :(

Maker6886

C'est la vie, C'est la vie, C'est la vie is all that needs be said we will wait .

Dave Ort

Just out of curiosity, what software are you using to render? Have you thought of trying a different software? Maybe Blender?

sKorpion

that's a L O T if render time! may need three machine... two for render and one for you lol what kind of specs are required for rendering?

J Cruz

just charge us!! you need to upgrade your hardware or buy a second one to continue rendering and not stop.

AAA14

Charge us and upgrade your rig mate!

Supreme Overlord Llama

I don't know really know what to say that other people already haven't. Quality over quantity anytime and if I have to wait a few months longer so be it. I have followed SFM and Blender artist long enough that I am well aware it takes times. Whatever you decide that will make for the best quality film, you have my support. Also as other people have said, I would be totally fine if you did not suspend pledges for a month. It takes time and money (VAs, other outsourcing like the lighting and perhaps new computer parts) to make top quality content. Can't expect that for free. If not though, I still very much appreciate the free month and I thank you all the same. - Llama

Just so this can come out on time. Reverse the lightning and make it 30 fps. That's ok! I didn't even notice the framerate on the preview. I didn't find it choppy at all. I'll take the quality of lightning and framerate that was used for Miranda in Charge, that's enough for me and I think for all of us (cuz that video was a banger). Those render times are ridiculous. The improvement in lights is not worth it. Now if you want to re-release this video in the future with improved lightning and framerate then that will be awesome. Hopefully when you have a second rig. But for now, Miranda in Charge quality is fine. TOTALLY FINE.

Wildquill

Keep up the good work.

soa

When full version will out?

Ado Bacardo

No Problem! I only can speak for myself: I can wait and looking forward to this masterpiece!

SimmeritaNita

Wow, 2020? Well, I'd rather wait for something you're proud to release than get it sooner and it not be as good as you'd hoped. Can't wait to see the preview!

FoggyKernel

Not a bad setup, 12 vcpu's support for SSE4 and AVX2 (which hopefully the software is taking advantage of). But is most of the work being done by the RTX?

PubliusX

No need to pause on my account. Press on!

Kevin Lansford

Do whatever it takes. These works are always worth the wait.

Emelia Hunt

It's okay I love your work o3o

john

hey when will corruption of the lodge 3 be unlocked for the public?

Fabian

there is no need to apologize. You do an awsome job and you are still just a man/woman with a RL-job. Take the time u need while keeping us up to date(if there are important news) and rly,...dont forget to relaxe ;)
