Gotta love the greed of capturing the single most important chokepoint in the galaxy and, instead of using it to build up stronger defenses, stabilize the economy, or seek a peace treaty, you immediately start drafting invasion plans to move beyond your new chokepoint. Brilliant idea. Job Trunicht is a clever bastard. He voices his support of the military constantly and is one of the main proponents for this invasion plan during the meeting, yet then votes against it. No matter what happens in this invasion, he comes out on top. If they breeze through the empire then he gets to sing the same song he always does as a pro-military patriot. If the invasion fails to meet its goals then he can stand proudly as one of the 3 dissenting votes and gain greater influence. Everyone hates the guy, but he's good at this game.
