The Back Log, vol. 37 - I Dub Thee, Sir Tugs-A-Lot (Patreon)

He sure does look a lot like Gus though...

There was an absolute smorgasbord of good content to pull from the #creative channel in our Discord, but I ultimately had to go with Jshie's Scooby Doo inspired effort, featuring Gus' latest alter ego - if you want more context for that one, you may want to catch up on last week's show!

'How can I do that?', you ask. Well, seeing as there's no housekeeping to go over this week, I'll tell you right now.

THIS WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Back Pocket Tonight ft. Zac Naoum, DM Extraordinaire!
In the studio this past Tuesday, Ruby, Gus and Steph were joined by the devilishly handsome Zac Naoum, and due to his life as a professional DM, we had to test out those performative skills with the return of Celebrity Headjobs! And that wasn't the only time everyone's improv skills were tested, as we wrapped up the show with a game of Talking Heads, from Jackbox 7. And on top of that, we had our usual What We've Been Playing, featuring Zac telling everyone about the addiction that is Balatro (I sympathise with him), Gus finally getting to talk about his most anticipated game of the year, Expeditions: A Mudrunners Game (yes, you read that right), Ruby giving us the lowdown on Berserk Boy and Steph sharing the wonderful world of Fight Crab. What a list, hey?

PocketBuds: Art Class
Well, it finally happened. We're not even a year into PocketBuds and we've already gone straight for the guttural of all time gaming topics - are video games art? Ruby sat down with Jack Kirby Crosby to breakdown this question (and why it's kinda a dumb question), and it's genuinely a fantastic episode. And for you bonus pod loving peeps in the Gold Pocket and above, Ruby and Gus went through a list of all the video games that they consider art. Which was really just an excuse for Ruby to talk about Undertale. Fair, Ruby, fair.

---

i'm sitting here writing this from my laptop, in front of an air con, remoting into my computer upstairs because that room is hot. Like, so fucking hot. It's been a sweltering weekend down here in Melbourne and Tasmania (at least those are the two I'm aware of), so if that's been the case for you, I hope you've been able to stay cool and safe! Summer won't quite let go, and I for one can't wait for it to do so.

Anyway, chat to you next week!

- Ben :)
