The Back Log, vol. 43 - Edward Kenway, Sexy Pirate (Patreon)

"Do you know this one pirate with an earring like this?"

There was an absolutely fantastic collection of Photal Recall contributions in #creative this week, but I couldn't go past this effort from Rith, who took Ruby's... artistic interpretation of Edward Kenway, and made it somehow even better with the addition of Michael Cera. And our little subheading for this week was the quote he used to accompany the post - it just all came together so well. Get rekt Dolphinpants, your reign is over!

No major housekeeping this week to cover, so let's get into it...

THIS WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Back Pocket Tonight: On Wednesday, My Dudes
The unusual Wednesday episode was afoot this week, but your usual hosts were all back together! Pete, Steph, Gus and Ruby were all back together once again, and kicking off the show was a Lil Bit of Backup about Apple's loosening of emulation rules on their App Store. Then, in What We've Been Playing, Gus took us on a PlayDate to Mars After Midnight, Steph and Pete told us about their respective returns to Fallout 76 and Destiny 2 (woo), and Ruby took a look back at last year's indie darling Cocoon (WOOO GOTY 2023). A Pete's Party Time favourite, Photal Recall, also made its long awaited return, and then we rounded out the show with some Challenging Times in the speedrunner's heaven that is Titanfall 2.

PocketBuds: Music to Your Ears
What's better for your ears than our podcast, PocketBuds? Why, music by none other than Dan Golding! So, in the world's greatest auditory crossover, he was Ruby's guest on this week's episode! And then the far less musically apt Angus Ronald joined Ruby for the bonus episode in a return of a Pocket Pals favourite, Avoiding the DMCA.

NEXT WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Unfortunately, we can't 100% confirm our guest on this week's Thursday episode yet, but what we CAN confirm is that on PocketBuds this coming week, we have an episode all about making gay games with Pete Foley, someone who does just that!

Meanwhile, the stream on Monday should be a Pete stream, but Josh's Balatro stream last week through our rotation out a bit so I'll be confirming it tomorrow in the Discord :)

It's almost May, hey? Down here in Melbourne, it's already feeling wintery, which just makes me more motivated to stay at home and catch up on some games. If only I can just pull myself away from Final Fantasy XIV to do so...
