The Back Pocket Weekly Newsletter - April 28 (Patreon)
Content
Wow, what's this? Well, I'm glad you asked...
A couple weeks ago I put up a poll in the Discord asking how people would like our Patreon to exist as an archive for content. In the past you may have noticed that we would dump all our YouTube uploads onto here, but often they would come in batches and clumps, meaning inboxes would be spammed. From a behind-the-scenes perspective, this is because due to my part-time hours, it wasn't always possible to get these uploads up at a consistent time to fit into my week, meaning it was more of a 'when I can' kinda thing. But I acknowledge that it wasn't the best way of doing that, so I went looking for a solution.
When I polled the Discord, the overwhelming majority of you at least confirmed that you would like post shows to exist as their own posts on Patreon, as an exclusive piece of content that is often hard to navigate to elsewhere. So that will very much continue to happen (and I apologise for a slight bit of spam in the coming weeks as I get through a backlog of these from the rest of the year so far - it'll be the last time, I promise).
But in searching for how to share our other content here, a wonderful community member you may know, Mitto, suggested that instead of placing all the uploads on here in the method I have been, I should do this weekly newsletter update with all the cool things we've made each week. I like this, because it also means I can highlight socials we're proud of (more of that in a moment), cool upcoming things we might have, updates from the team and the like.
So, these intros won't be as long in future, but I hope this is something you guys like! I am always happy to hear more feedback on this stuff, and for the love of god, please help me come up with a better name for these.
LAST WEEK ON BACK POCKET
Back Pocket Tonight ft. Reapz and a DEV INTERVIEW?!
Last night on Back Pocket, our wonderful friend Reapz was able to join us in the studio, bringing with him truly one of the most peculiar games to What We've Been Playing. Plus, we interviewed Ryan McMahon of Playside Studios, about their latest release in Age of Darkness: Final Stand, as well as what it's like being the General Manager of the biggest development studios in Australia. Oh, and we went podracing! It's a good one, I promise.

Socials - We're Doing Some New Stuff
We've been discussing in recent weeks within the team how we can make better content for our social media channels, so we're trialing some new styles of content there (some of which is exclusive to socials 😮). As usual, we're feeling it out as we go, but we have a renewed focus on making our TikTok especially a great place to go for Back Pocket content, both pre-existing and brand new. Let us know what you think, and please SHARE! It genuinely makes such a huge difference and opens us up to new opportunities, the more eyes get on this stuff.

NEXT WEEK ON BACK POCKET
This segment might be a bit bigger in the future, mainly because I would like to get more approval from the guys before I share particular details, which I haven't had a chance to do for this one. But expect little sneak peeks of upcoming content to be posted here.
So, what DO I have? Well, I can tell you that next week we have not ONE, but TWO, guests on Back Pocket. I'll let you read into that what you may. Plus, I expect you'll be able to hear our thoughts on Jedi: Survivor and Redfall. And, there may even be something extra that I won't say any more about just yet. So, you'll just have to keep your eyes peeled next week to find out...
-------
Well, that's it for the first of these! Sorry it's a bit of a chunky one - as I said, expect a shorter preamble in the future so we can jump straight into the good stuff. Just thought it would help to have an explainer of why randomly showed up in your feed and on your email. As for this weekend, I'm gonna be jumping deep into Jedi: Survivor, which I am VERY excited about, and maybe even visit Pete and Josh at Dreamhack: Melbourne for a bit! Melbourne's put its best weather on display for all those visitors, but if you're going yourself, just uh... make sure to take an umbrella.
Have a good weekend Pocketeers, and I'll chat to you next week in May(?!)
- Ben
