The Back Log, vol. 10 - TikTok. On the Clock. (Patreon)
Content
But the party don't stop.
The Back Pocket TikTok party don't be stopping. We've been churning out even more cool pieces of content over there this week, including a new trailer-y thing... but more on that in a bit!
The second half of the year is upon us, and I just wanted to say once again how grateful we are to all of you who have stuck by us in what has been a six months that has thrown us some curveballs, where we have tried new things and ultimately, shared the screen with a lot of new faces. It may sound cliche, but the community is genuinely the beating heart of this show, and so please know that we never take your support for granted, and endlessly appreciate all of you sticking with us through thick and thin. We've got some exciting plans for the rest of the year, and can't wait for you to continue that journey with us!
Before we get into the week that's been, did you know that the GIF above was actually spliced and tracked together from two separate bits of footage by RhysWild? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, because it's pretty flawlessly done. Once again, the standard of content coming out of #creative is fantastic, and I love dipping into there each week to see what I can spotlight.
THIS WEEK ON BACK POCKET
Back Pocket Tonight: 1-2 Switchin' It Up
Who knew just how insane Everybody 1-2-Switch would get, huh? It may have only got 4/10 from ye olde IGN, but that didn't stop it from being one of the funniest segments we've done in a while. Ooh, aaah. But that wasn't all in what was a jam-packed show - we did a little spotlight of NAIDOC Week, including a fantastic conversation with the incredibly talented Rubii Red, who recently shared a very awesome collaboration she's been working on with Xbox! Plus, we went back to the Game of Life for the first time in a while (and our very own Ruby's first time ever), and covered Pikmin 4's demo, Trepang², Synapse and Diablo IV in What We've Been Playing!

Socials - Lego Deloreans and Pikmin 4...ians
As I said, we keep rolling out the TikToks and we have some more absolute bangers this week. Steph's back with our weekly Game Plan, as we kick off a quieter month for releases amidst the chaos that is 2023. Will's been hard at work again in Lego 2K Drive, building three different Deloreans - yep, you read that right, it's incredible and TikTok seems to think so too! Plus, Ruby's lil guy takeover of our content begins with a look at the Pikmin 4 demo, with more lil guy content to come in the lead up to that game. And, Gus has a short little review of Synapse, the latest PSVR2 release, and dare we say, the first-must play for that headset... oh! And we posted a little channel trailer on our TikTok, mainly to try and grab us some new eyeballs over to Twitch, but we think you'll enjoy it too.

NEXT WEEK ON BACK POCKET
A couple of very cool things to share about next week! First of all, we have our quarterly Patreon Town Hall next Tuesday night (11th July), for all patrons at the Production Pocket ($25) tier and above! This is your chance to ask us the nitty gritty, business-y questions you don't get to ask in the post show, and where we give you some sneak peeks at some stuff we have planned.
Secondly, we've got Gem (GeeOfDee) joining us next Thursday! We've been wanting to get her on for a while now, and are super excited that we got it all to line up for next week. Obviously it's been a little bit without a guest on (for a bunch of reasons), but ultimately we want to get back to having guests with us as much as possible! So while I won't promise every week, you can definitely expect a bit more variety on the couch week-to-week again.

Personally, after a hectic couple of months of game releases, I'm quite happy for July to be a quieter month - we've all got so many cool games to catch up on! I'm personally still trying to work my way through FF16, and wanna jump into Dave the Diver as well! Plus, with August already looking chunky with Baldur's Gate and Armored Core, and the dreaded Starfield September, I think we all collectively need some time to catch our breath...
So, given that, I wish you all a wonderful weekend of gaming! Or perhaps, a weekend without it for once. If you can get some sun in the midst of this chilly winter weather, by all means take the chance. Stay hydrated, stay warm and give your pets a pat for me 💖
- Ben :)
