The Back Log, vol. 11 - A Gem of a Week (Patreon)

A Gem in the rough (wait, does that make us the rough?)

I'm sorry everyone, I'm in a punny mood today. It's been another hectic week of Back Pocket action, so no big pre-amble this time, just straight into the action! But not without a quick shoutout to TheVegabus, with a simple yet incredibly effective Photoshop job that just about sums up everything you need to know from Thursday night...

THIS WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Back Pocket Tonight: A GGSP Reunion! Kinda.
As you are likely more than aware of at this point, we had Gem (GeeOfDee) from ABC Gamer as our guest on the show this week, and we took it as an opportunity to get all of our GGSP alum (Will, Gus and Steph) on the couch with her. Was this so that we could do our own version of the classic Spawn Point segment Ask SP? Well, not initially, but it was a fantastic bonus. It's genuinely a hilarious segment and will also tug at those nostalgia threads if you, like me, grew up watching those segments. But we also couldn't let Gem on without touching on her biggest passion of all, Mass Effect. And if you've seen the image attached to this post, you'll quickly work out what part of Mass Effect we talked about. And that's not even mentioning our chats about some big new releases, including Oxenfree II, Final Fantasy XVI and... wait, theHunter: Call of the Wild - Emerald Coast Australia DLC?! Oh Gus, we love you.

Patreon Town Hall
Every few months we host a Town Hall in the Discord for Patrons at the $25 tier and above, and this week it was time for another one! We had some really good questions sent in, and were able to share some really cool details about some upcoming Patreon changes we're working on, and a new show coming soon?! Again, I don't wanna give away the bag as this one's locked behind a paywall, but if you want to know the deets right now, that's how you can find them! If not, that's fine too - we'll be sharing some of this more widely and in more detail soon enough...

Socials - A Chocobo, a Lil Guy, a Diver and a Jedi Walk into a Bar
We're back with a bunch of different TikToks covering SO many different bases this week, including another Final Fantasy rating featuring our favourite feathered friends, the continuation of Ruby's Lil Guy takeover, Gus' spotlight on the best part of indie hit Dave the Diver, and another nostalgia piece from Pete on what makes Knights of the Old Republic so special, on its 20th anniversary! Oh, and Ruby made a Which Kong Are You? filter for TikTok, so please send us your videos if you use it yourself!

NEXT WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Nothing much to share in this section this week, but that's no because we don't have anything cooking! We very much do, but it just needs a little longer in the oven. And it's not just cookies. Although, I want some cookies now.

---

I've spent my weekend with Clive and friends once again, but sadly I can't share much here because it'll almost entirely be spoilers 😬 However, I will say that the story goes to some crazy places, both literally and figuratively. And boy, am I along for the ride. Also, shoutout to Gav. Gav is the best and you can't convince me otherwise. I may have already done a shoutout to Gav in one of these, but if I have, I don't care. He deserves it.

Anyway, maybe I'll write about something other than FF in this section next week. Or maybe not. You'll have to read that one to find out ;)
