The Back Log, vol. 36 - That Belongs In A Museum! (Patreon)

An ancient Pockety relic has been unearthed...

Our  #creative spotlight is another Jazzals special, inspired by our brand new Back Pocket segment, Can You Dig It?, that definitely didn't have a completely excessive title card...

Alright, time for a little bit of housekeeping! There's two little bits of info to talk about this week, so let's get cracking

Firstly, we've been working on uploading all of our past Game Night streams (starting from after the 3rd Anniversary stream) onto our YouTube channel! You can currently access them from this playlist, and you'll notice that the videos themselves are unlisted. This is because we are a little worried about it clogging up our feed at the moment. But they will all appear on this playlist from now on, and now that we're streaming to YouTube as well, we won't even have to reupload them. Make sure to save the playlist if you're looking to catch up on those VODs.

And secondly, it's the start of a new month (time flies, hey?) and so that means all of our February exclusive content is available for Silver Pocket patrons too! You can access these here, provided you're at the correct tier.

THIS WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Back Pocket Tonight: Bestie Brigade
That's right, Ruby's bestie and Powerhouse Museum curator extraordinaire Chloe Appleby joined us on Back Pocket this week! As she's a true Pokemon diehard, naturally we had to talk about all the news from the latest Pokemon Presents, and she also brought her own show-and-tell with her extensive Pokemon card collection. That wasn't all the Pokemon content we had in this show either - the fan favourite segment What The Fuck Did You Just Say To Me? made its return, this time in its most chaotic iteration ever, featuring Pokemon names. But what else was there for all those non-Pokemon lovers? Well, the usual What We've Been Playing of course, where Pete had some choice thoughts on his first experience with a Final Fantasy game in, FF7 Rebirth. Steph got her survival-loving hands on Nightingale, and then we had some truly wildcard picks from Ruby and Chloe, with Shashingo: Learn Japanese with Photography and CorpoNation: The Sorting Process respectively. And finally, the aforementioned brand new segment, Can You Dig It?, which definitely took no inspiration from a certain warship-based board game...

PocketBuds: DREDGE Edition
One of the huge indie darlings from 2023 was none other than the New Zealand-made DREDGE by Black Salt Games, and we were so happy that Joel and Mikey, devs from the Black Salt team, were able to join Ruby for not only a main podcast episode to deep dive into the making of this eldritch fishing game, but also for a bonus episode too! I highly recommend listening to both if you've got the time, but for entirely different reasons - one as a great, informative episode about game dev, and the other for the truly weird and bizarre world of cryptids.

NEXT WEEK ON BACK POCKET

Wow, March hey? Well, we have a banger first week to kick off the month here on Back Pocket. Pete's doing our Monday night game stream this week, which may or may not involve another costume (read: probably won't, but maybe we can still convince him?)

Meanwhile, on the main show, we're getting Zac Naoum, DM of I SPEAK GIANT, onto the show, while over in PocketBuds land, Ruby has a chat with Jack Kirby Crosby, Art Lead on the upcoming Wood & Weather, ready for your ears this Friday. Lots to look forward to!

Another week down, another month down. We're nearly done with the first quarter of 2024, and I'm struggling to be ok with that, but hey, that means more cool games coming this month! Who else is excited for Dragon's Dogma 2? I just need to get through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth first... so I better get back to it right now! Chat to you next week, Pocketeers <3
