(Mr. H) I've been asked to clear up some stuff for all of you wonderful Patrons. Bea R. has been concerned over the lack of regular artwork and the lack of spellchecking, recently. Let me take the easy topic first:

SPELLCHECKING. Reason: I suck. Actually, we suck, because we don't have a solid method of doing spellchecking. Bea R.'s language skills are a little bent, due to being a German immigrant, and I suck because I should be double and triple checking everything. Unfortunately I never see GAL-AXY lettered until it arrives on Webtoons; inking is done pre-letters and she letters it. KITTEN is my lettering from her printed worksheet, and for some idiotic reason I did not spell check thoroughly and just blasted it out after the initial task. Lettering on IN SECURITY was always a problem, because when you letter the slow way, with nibs, you tend to believe you are looking at correct lettering when it is misspelled--even on second or third run through! That needed a third pair of eyes. In a month, I will be trying to strong arm her into a method where everything is run across me, and I must triple check my own efforts. Sometimes Serra Britt will spellcheck, but... that's only if she sees the final.

And right now much of this is caused by our...

SCHEDULE. Which is caused by our lifestyle and choices. Nothing weird--we have been up north for 4 weeks to get rid of some old baggage hindering our life. We used to live up in North Dakota, and we need to ditch all the stuff we still own up here, settle accounts, and run back down to the SW desert where we now live. PITA. Apologies would mean nothing: we have to get this done, and there was no way to avoid it. GOOD NEWS! We are only 4 weeks out from returning. Originally we expected to return for July, head north for AUG-SEPT and wrap it up by October. Now, it might be wrapped up before July and we can settle down to regular art output before August. Many of the slow downs should resolve in a few weeks. Then we have our whole life in one place and no dangling bits causing us concern--our SW hermitage shall become integral.

We are embarrassed. It sucks to not produce art, because it is our raison d'être. Producing bad lettering is just some icing and maraschino cherries on that cupcake of suck. We don't want to be like this, but we are. Time to change. By mid-summer this year, it will. BEAR with us (get it?).

God damn. Take your time, love your art. I'll always be here to read your work. I'm not in a hurry 🥰

Tie Toter

To be honest I never even noticed any spelling errors. You're doing great.

Eeyore

I always enjoy you different series and realize you have lives. Don’t stress too much about the spelling or time frame. Take care of what matters and create when you can. 😁

@BeaR you're a talented lady, relax, it's no big deal tbh. As a patron, I appreciate your dedication to excellence, but really, as long as the main point comes across, (I think) most of us dgaf. Keep the quality content up and that's all that matters. Life gets in the way and y'all still manage to upload consistently, so you're good in my book. @Mr. H as a married man, I wholeheartedly feel for you my man. As much as I love my wife, when she gets certain things in her head and obsesses over them... Sigh... I work remotely and I recently had a misunderstanding at my work regarding the possibility of moving to a different state, at my wife's request I asked HR but I didn't tell my managers (yes plural), my managers then asked me if I was planning on moving and why I didn't keep them in the loop. Honestly it was no big deal, but my wife felt so bad as she perceived it that she put me in a bad position in their eyes. She asked me to send an apology email on her behalf... I didn't want to do it cause it will just make it weird and unprofessional, but still out of love and respect for her I did anyway. My managers (as married men) understood my situation and assured it was no big deal, just to keep them in the loop. In any case, I'm getting a similar vibe and just wanted to give you a virtual pat on the back, I get you homie. Have a beer on me if the wife allows ;)

Hey, don't worry about it, take your time! The community is here and I'm sure we would love to help in anyway way we can. I will always want to help if anyone ever needs it. I maybe only once really noticed any error, you are doing great! Keep up your great work!

An idea, you could always use us as your proofreaders, I know I tend to spot spelling errors fairly well. I do give some slack to those who isn't a native English speaker, there's a Japanese artist I follow who always makes little mistakes but I don't dwell on it because I know it's not their native language, I'm harsher on people who spent their whole life writing and speaking English.

If it's because of my previous comment about the typo, i'm sorry 🫣 the goal wasn't to ashame anyone just to permit you to correct it for the "public access", the patreon community is here and will stay, we love your work (all parts) we just want you to reach the sun because we really appreciate your art. Again don't worry about this part, the main content is just perfect this kind of stuff is just polishing. Love

S-o-i-l-

To be honnest, i though the proximity of Patreon was here for this kind of stuff :/

Brandon P

I'm not worried about it.

Nick Klepac

Hey, you worry way to much. The art, the stories are awesome. I have been with you guys pretty much from the beginning and I have always supported you. I don't see that changing unless I croak. At 73, that is always around the corner, but I usually go straight and not worry about making turns. Bea, you are Mr. H are awesome. Do what you must do. Get your stuff taken care of and we will still be here.

Philip Rauschert

Nope, me neither. Given that I spy print errors in regular books now on a routine basis, I think Bea gets a mulligan on occasion. I have to recheck my own stuff at least twenty times to get all the screwy out.

Xionwalker

I mean, if you get super worried, you could always type the script out on a google doc or something, which will do both spelling and grammar checks(although the grammar check doesn't take into account context or any creative use of voicing of the characters and I wouldn't worry about that part so much, but it could help), but otherwise learning english isn't something to be ashamed of. If anybody wants to give you shit about it, we'll beat them up! Hi-yah!*kung-fu hands* >:3

Jeffry L Manion

I give money to a few other patron accounts and I don't get a third of what you guys put out. And since my spelling is atrocious (my tablet spelled that word) I never notice. Besides it is the story and the art that matters and they are top notch.

Serra Britt

I know that even I don't catch them all when I get the editorial glance so I don't think anyone should feel bad about it :)

Drift

I love your work that you guys do. I would never criticize your spelling or lack of work. I follow some people on Patreon that do not speak English as a first language, and I just do my best to make sense of the message they are trying to relay. And my spelling can be atrocious at times lol. If it wasn't for autocorrect, who knows what I'd be putting out there lol. Take care of what you need to do. We will wait.

Notme48

Don't worry about spelling too much or art output ... sometimes life happens, we appricate the communication and wish you the best in getting your life back on track. As for your concerns over regular artwork? Have you counted what you've posted in May? I did (and probably miscounted somehere) 29 new Comc Pages 4 InSecuirty colored reruns 12 individual art pieces 1 art piece with 4 variants In June (only 7 days in) you have posted 9 new comic pages 1 Insecuirty colored rerun 2 art pieces That's not counting reworking the comics for webtoons. I know these are all being worked on well in advance, but your montly post rate is absolutely insane for two people (plus Sarra Britt for InSecurity flats). As a paying memeber; if you posted half as much, I'd still be a happy customer.

TeriyakiKoneko

Not worried about it personally. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. I will make an effort to call out any spelling mistakes I see in Patreon posts if that’s helpful. Thank you for your hard work, as always— both of you.

Josh Nickerson

Heey, donnt wory abut, It we all makee spellling misteakes frum tieme to teme.

Alistair Star⭐️

I have caught 3 misspellings during "tails of consequences" in kitten. I just thought B&H were busy or a bit stressed with moving. I also, by the way, forgot where they're moving😅. I thought it was TO a Dakota.

Alistair Star⭐️

No worries guys. We all make mistakes. And serra britt ain't the only one helping with the spell check. I've been mentioning a few times recently in the comment sections of posts of misspellings in your comics. Helping you find it before it gets posted on webtoons.

Jack Nguyen

lmao this is such a mood, program for a living but can't spell in my code for the love of god 🤣

InSecurity

we appreciate that and depending on what has been scheduled we can edit the comics in time. If not, we certainly will correct things before they end up in print ^^"

InSecurity

I certainly don't take offense if people correct my grammar. Only thing is I feel bad when people assume it's a drop in quality. as we mentioned, Life is a bit stressful and I don't want you to feel like we rush things too much ;A; That's being said, I try to organize my time a bit better so that we get good quality without getting myself too stressed :(

InSecurity

thank you thank you. No, don't feel bad. I am a bit ashamed when it looks like we are slipping in quality because I don't want this to be a thing. once we are back home we have to rework our schedule and hopefully open up more time to proofread and get our quality back up to snuff :)

InSecurity

I actually do that. But hubby enters stuff in by hand and sometimes even spellchecking mixes up words ^^"

InSecurity

yeah, they are getting done on such a short term that I don't find the time to send them in atm ;A;

InSecurity

holy shot, I didn't notice it was that much ;A; sadly, next months it will be a bit less bc Gal-Axy and Katzen will go back on hiatus. But I hope we can safely bridge this ;_;

Brandon P

Here's a serious offer that just occurred to me. I'd spell-check all the new comics in exchange for free access to all the digital Patreon content. It wouldn't cost you anything except my subscription payment. It would even free up some of your time to focus on marketing, engagement, creating, and work-life balance.
