The book is almost here.

We turned out the PDF and sent it to the printer.  They approved the setup and are printing a proof sometime between now and later.  Then it ships here in 24 hrs. and we can see the actual book!  If it looks good, we approve it and it is for sale on Amazon and elsewhere.

Technically it goes on sale next Friday, but we can move the date up if we approve the proof.

Our biggest fear right now are MOIRE PATTERNS--weird patterns created by the tone dots when printed at a different size/resolution than originally intended.  When those little black dots, making our grey, get abnormally reduced, you get checkerboards and flares and other, odd, geometric shapes blasting out of the grey areas.  If they are too obnoxious, we will have to decline the proof and there is a possibility the book might never get made.  There might be work-arounds, though.

At this time, I get iffy moire on my monitor when the proof is at 100%-400% actual size.  At 500%+, the dots are seen as fully as possible in the proof and they look fine.  It might just be monitor effects.  Keeping fingers crossed.
