Hey everyone,

I've been incapacitated with health issues again this month, leading to multiple hospital visits.

Caution for the squeamish, medical details to follow:

***

Both legs suddenly swelled up, and developed purple bruising all along first my right shin, then my left, which was alarming to say the least. It got so painful that I was barely able to walk.

The doctor was concerned it might be sepsis, but after an endless series of tests, including x-rays, ultrasounds, and a number of others, I was eventually diagnosed with a severe case of Cellulitis.

I've been on antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and a course of steroids for the last few weeks, and I'm finally able to limp around without too much discomfort. I've had to keep my legs elevated as much as possible, which has made writing impossible until recently.

Still no news on when I might be scheduled for the gall-bladder surgery, as I'm still stuck on the interminably long waiting list.

***

I've been working on chapter 169 and written another 8k of combat scenes. The battle isn't quite finished yet, but I'll hopefully finish it very soon. I'll upload the latest version in a separate post.

Best wishes,

Tefler

Very sorry to hear about your medical issues, Tefler, but glad that you’re receiving care! We wish you all the best and hope that you get fully healthy soon and have no further medical issues of this nature. And to be clear, this wish has *nothing* to do with your writing!

HillCountryCowboy

Hang in there Tef! Keep your spirits (and legs) elevated!

Doug Hunter

Take care Tefler!! I had my gall bladder removed last year so know your pain.

rmccurdy

Ok Thank you for the update. Get well soon friend

Don's Projects

It’s always good to hear from you, no matter the circumstances. You are like a family friend that we don’t hear from as much as we would like. I’m sorry you are feeling so poorly and with so little relief. There isn’t much that I can do to be helpful, but I pray and wish the best for you and yours. take care. Don

Cignal

Best wishes and get well. Hope for the best.

Jim Owens

Good to know you are still working on it. I hope you recover from all this mess. Good luck

thomas rodrian

Sounds like you're basically in the same situation I in. Dean hospitalized, is not fun. Take it easy and we'll see you when we see them.

Rayce Royal

Dude, that sucks. Leg pain like that is no laughing matter. Thoughts and prayers for you man

Charles Miller

Wish you the best my friend. Will keep you in prayers.

Joe Waldvogel

I went to the Emergancy room in pain and ended up getting surgery that same day and then stayed in the hospital for 4 days. So I know what it is like. Milking this Gall Blatter for how many months now? I’ve lost track. I knew there was going to end up being another excuses after more pre-payments and getting behind yet again. Waiting for the last minute to say anything. I guess that is better then disappearing for months on in. I can already see more pre-payments in the future for an unfinished chapter next month along with a whole lot of bu** licking. It’s the same old story and excuses.

jhc1

Sorry to hear about the cellulitis. I have endured it many times and I completely understand coping with the pain, the hassle of keeping legs elevated for weeks at a time and the difficulty with brain fog due to massive prolonged doses of strong antibiotics, pain killers, etc. I wish you a speedy recovery with both of your health challenges.

MeCherAmigos

Best wishes for a summer of better health and good writing.

Tefler

I must admit, all the health issues are starting to wear me down. I've been dealing with one thing after another for nearly 18 months now, with no immediate end in sight. Thank you for your well wishes though. I'm really glad you guys are still hanging in there to finish the story. :)

Health first. Get well soon

travis btmb

thanks for the update hope you get well soon

Yeomin

Wish you the best my friend!

Greg Pate

Going thru similar situation but not quite that bad. Blood pressure issues delaying my surgery. Hope you get past this soon.

Philip Hannum

So glad to hear you are getting better. We all were concerned.

WyLee

I think it is funny you said "not for the squeamish" when we are all reading your stories...

Nate

Sorry to hear about how much pain you’ve been in. Shame Rachel can’t just pop in and clear these issues out in a second. Thanks for the story update. FYI, I’m in the group that doesn’t care about placeholders if you need them.

John the 5th

Thank you fot the update on your situation . Hope you get better and can continue this great story.

Wozza

Health first, I hope you improve soon!

Khaezarn

As someone with a wife that has chronic cellulitis, I can definitely imagine your pain and frustration. I hope you get better soon, best wishes for you and your family.

Adub

I don't comment much but just wanted to send a few words of encouragement/ well wishes. TSM helped through some rough times and I'm glad to be able to support. It's good to still see you still posting updates (if not as much as some hope) just wish the comment section wasn't so hostile (respectful words of disappointment is one thing but I've seen some pretty hateful stuff thrown at both those unhappy and those who support) . Hope your health gets better and you finish the story you want told. Thanks for the work you've put in and back to the shadows I go. :)

Bigfoot

Sounds like you could definitely use a visit from Rachael. Good luck in your recovery.

Duncan Smith

Sorry to hear of your health issues, hope you get these resolved and wishing you all the best

Tefler take some time and heal.

Jedi Khan

Bloody hell, Tefler. Sounds like you need new a healthcare system. What you're going through is severely impacting your quality of life, if not outright life threatening. And yet your healthcare system is leaving you in limbo. While it will be wildly expensive, perhaps it is time to consider going to the US and seeking medical care there? I would certainly like to think the US healthcare system won't leave you in limbo like this.

SGU29

Hope you get better soon man. All the best.

RKieran2

Hope you're better soon. Prayers go out to you man.

Adam

Anyone who is losing their minds over placeholders - why not cancel for a year and come back? You won’t pay anything! But you can’t - because that would mean not getting the latest stories. I suspect these negative comments make the situation worse, so on behalf of the rest of us: write your own 170 stories at this level of quality, then you can show us how it’s done. The rest of us want to support and be part of the creative process that’s what Patreon is supposed to be for

Vizth Hal

I know your never going to see this but after the battle is over do some filler to bulk out the next few chapters, The crew deserves a break after this and hopefully it'll be less intensive to write as well.

Dale

Strange that the message function seems to not be working, so I will leave it here and see if it is seen from tef.

Unresolved Plots

Get well soon Tefler and don't compromise your health by trying to write if you are unable

Jonathan Fowler

I feel for Tef. My son has had cellulitis several times. The last two times, he had an antibiotic automatic drip strapped on for 6 weeks, and then another 6 to 8 weeks of antibiotic pills. He certainly was unable to work! I know and can appreciate what you are going through. I hope that everything clears up soon, and that the NHS backlog reduces so youcan have your op. I look forward to the chapters as and when you can complete them.

Rev. Thwack

"The maximum waiting time for non-urgent, consultant-led treatments is 18 weeks from the day your appointment is booked through the NHS e-Referral Service, or when the hospital or service receives your referral letter." -- NHS Website For well over a year, you've been telling us you've been just waiting on surgery. Something doesn't add up. My vote is the source of constant excuses as to why they never do what they say.

Kenneth Murphy

As soon as you started describing it I knew it was cellulitis. Compression socks help although not sure at what stage. I hope you stay in good spirits and I’m optimistic that you will get better. Thanks for taking the time to write such a fascinating story

Stephen Paynter

You have my sympathies - I am a long time sufferer of bouts of cellulitis. In my experience, a week or two on the right antibiotics gets rid of the infection, but walking can be hard for another week or two, as the thickened skin returns to its new normal. However, being completely wiped out can last a week or two more after that. Personally, I carry a course of antibiotics with me all the time, as bouts can recur, and hitting each new bout hard and fast is important. .... BTW, I love your story. It is very gripping - especially the battle scenes.

Rurik

Is it possible to get medical treatment someplace else? You've been waiting so long... Honestly reading about this year's long saga with the medical establishment makes me glad I decided to visit Finland instead of England this spring.

G

Sounds to me like a vaccine injury. Especially if health wasn't best beforehand.

Michael56Smith

--- this past year, I too have been medically advised to elevate my legs to aid my healing, ... this procedure ruins the rest of your life, ... you can only watch television, and have quite limited computer activities, -- like Tef's writing wouldn't have been possible until he got much better, ... anyway, we can at least wish him well, ... thanks for your TSM, love all of John's girls, and John is not too bad either, .... keep up the good work, .... ;-) ttfn

Unctadsk

Dear Tefler, can you please check with "get well soon" portal. in Priory hospital they are privately charging @7500 or near by but I ofcourse I don't know how much serious is your current status. However my point is there are good private hospitals in UK where you can get treated early in place of crying so long and getting the health issue prolonged which will further bring other health issues. Get well soon.

EroticPoetic

Tefler, we all want you to regain your health and well being. PLEASE look into homeopathic remedies. Holistic health includes a whole food diet, detoxing heavy metals and parasites. You can regain your health in record time if you focus on bringing your body into balance and letting your body heal itself. Western medicine will attack the symptoms. Holistic health focuses on the root causes and allows your body to heal itself.

Andrei

ChatGPT, write me a medical excuse so I can keep stealing cash from these dummies. Try that next time, it’ll be good.

EroticPoetic

Tefler, can you give us an update? It’s already the 28th and we haven’t heard from you in a while. Any chance we’ll be seeing more of, or preferably a completed chapter this month? WITHOUT more placeholders, please!!! 🙏 It would be AMAZING 🤩 if you delivered the rest of 170 and 171 this month. It’s been too long since you gave us something to binge read. 😅

Tom Ray

To limit the number of times you can be charged per month before the end of the year to take care of that pesky second placeholder. Go to Membership -> Edit -> Payment Amount -> Set Monthly Limit and enter "1".
