Hey everyone,

I will just do one placeholder today.

My apologies again, but I hope to make some serious headway into the backlog in September.

Regards,

Tefler.

Robster

Heard that before.......

Emma B

Again?! 🙄 You have gone almost 10 chapters in advance..... Definitely logging in a complaint now..

Kevin Horin

It would give us some hope and reason to believe that you will catch up if we see more than 1 (already paid for) chapter a month

AlWo Ra

I'll believe it when I see it. 😕

Robster

Again give Tefler a chance .... I do have lots of worries... but want to be positive still

Dominic Janning

Did we just wait another month for a half chapter again.

Michael56Smith
>>148086923

-- It is a wonderful story, but if you feel that you are getting 'fleeced' then you might wish to end your association with this Author, ... and not show up in his comments sections anymore, .... sorry to see you go, .... ;-) ttfn

>>148086923

I m not interested in your remarks michael just keep them to ya self

AzureReader

I doubt Tef forgot there are 31 days in this month. He’s busy writing the first few paragraphs of Ch 171 which he will graciously deliver… with another pre-charge.

Megacheez

Rest assured if you haven't heard patreon is canceling the per post billing option coming november. So soon this won't be possible. It will go to monthly, though thr question will be how tefler will handle any backlog then.

arbi

I guess we're supposed to be happy he's only stealing half his usual amount. My dislike for Tefler and what he's done has almost equaled my love of his story.

AzureReader

We received three precharges for Chapter 170… he precharged 177 and 178 when he delivered the first 1/3 of 170 and now 179 to finish it. Charging for three chapters every chapter delivered is a horrible way to catch up.

upyoursix

Dude. (Facepalm)

glenn kellogg

Funny, since reducing my contribution to $1 a few chapter advances ago, I care a lot less …. When you get caught up to actually getting paid for what you have written, I’ll head back up to my long standing $10. I’m glad Patreon is going to stop allowing this scam.

WWODBD

I subbed, downloaded 170, and am about to unsub. It cost my agreed-upon dollar per chapter. Anybody complaining about getting ripped off is consciously allowing that to happen. Which is fine - that's a choice we're all capable of making, but I can't say I understand it, not at this point so late in the game. Anyway, I'm about to be entertained by what I expect will be a good chapter, as usual. See you in a month!

Evilebob

🎉 Announcing This Month’s Psychic Kyth’faren Winner! 🎉 Fellow seers and soothsayers, the moment has arrived to crown this month’s Psychic Kyth’faren! But first, let’s take a look at the results that brought us here. The actual results for this month are as follows: Chapter 170: Completed, finally wrapping up the immediate aftermath of the battle. Chapter 179: Placeholder, with no carefully crafted excuse. Just a straightforward "one placeholder today" message. In the spirit of the contest, we’ve reviewed all the predictions, and one stood out as eerily accurate: JB, despite being on the verge of disqualification for not following the original rules to the letter, has emerged as the most correct predictor! His prophecy—half a chapter, perhaps unfinished, and a placeholder with no carefully crafted excuse—was right on the money. Bravo, JB! 🎉 Your foresight was truly impressive, and for that, we tip our hats to you. Now, recognizing that predicting excuses (or the lack thereof) was a bit more challenging than anticipated, we’ve decided to update the rules. Going forward, the excuses prediction will be optional. However, priority will still go to those who come closest to the actual results, with or without excuses. There were many excellent contenders and highly probable prophecies, but in the end, JB’s was the most spot-on. Well done, JB! Stay tuned for the next contest, where we’ll once again test our predictive powers against the mysterious forces guiding Tefler’s productivity. Until then, keep those crystal balls polished and your visions sharp—the future might be unpredictable, but predicting it is half the fun!

Bert Frank

As much as I enjoy his story I feel he is conning us with his sob stories. It took him from Jan. 1, 2023 to Aug. 30, 2024 (20 months) to write 9 chapters, he wants us to pay now for 9 chapters in the future? What year will we get it?

Larry Thurman

everyone should realize he is banking over 7000 per month 14k when he does 2 placeholders. Not to mention the combining of chapters into books and selling on amazon. I'm frustrated with this outcome. even the described medical conditions seem to me to be exaggerated, gall bladder problems can be resolved quickly with day surgery "mine was removed in day surgery". I love the story and he is a good writer but keeping promises and deadlines are something else.

Jeff Combes

But wait, there’s more! Now that 170 is done he needs money to vacation for a few days and poof, placeholder 179 is born. If it took 20 months to publish 9 chapters and that is what is owed now, that puts us well into 2025. Tax season will require more placeholders of course.

Gky

Just quit, dude. You obviously don't care any more.

Myrnalin

All thoes who whine and cry like babies gets a block, Everyone with a brain here knows that none of thoes keyboard warriors could type even half as good as Tefler, Writing is not an A>B easy work. Sit down and be quiet or get the block.

TexanInParis

Tef: Just to let you know, I lowered my contribution to the minimum. For a while I was sending you a lot each chapter to try to encourage you. But now you're NINE chapters behind what you've already charged, so I'm staying a member until you catch up. Not holding my breath, but I'm hoping you'll get caught up in the next 3-4 months. Chapters continue to be high quality, so I'm hanging in there.

Aldo

I feel sorry for Tefler, i don't get it....such talent...but he is totally ruining his reputation.....seems as if he has given up caring...

Seth

LOL

Trimtab

9 chapters behind. Dude i offered so many words of support in the past, but im outa here. Love your writing and have supported for many uears, but there are limits. Maybe I'll check in again next year to see if things have improved. Patreon users are not an interest free personal line of credit. You pay interest in lost fans.

Trimtab
>>148113229

This. Im dumping him this monts. After many years of support i feel abused and nasty. Screw this nonsense. The story is fun but I'm out of sympathy for his perpetual mooching. A very large interest free loan is all we are it seems. Well the price he is paying is ruining his fan base.

Myrnalin
>>148118396

I dont care either way, they are blocked and outside my vision, if they want to erode their manner and life by living in the slugs and slime they can do so in a echochamber where only their own kind are present and thrive

John the 5th

The snivelers bitch when they don't get a chapter, then they get one and.... they bitch. And i block. And if they don't like this, i don't care.

Myrnalin

It is actually very few people. Like 1-2 a week.

Sushant Bhartiya

No Problem Tefler! I had read so many free chapter on literotica that even if you charge 50 placeholders in advance- I won’t have any complaint!

Evilebob
>>148156052

Sushant Bhartiya, your generosity knows no bounds! You, my dear personal piggy bank, are the oinking embodiment of on-demand, interest-free credit. Where else could I find such a reliable source of financial buoyancy, especially one that never asks for repayment or even questions the endless stream of placeholders? You keep me afloat in this sea of creativity—or perhaps it’s a sea of creative accounting. Either way, I must thank you for being the little piggy that dutifully provides, even when real institutions would turn a skeptical eye. Your unwavering support is the foundation upon which placeholders thrive, and for that, I give a hearty oink of appreciation. So, whether it’s 50 placeholders or 100, rest assured, you’ll always be the piggy bank that keeps this ship sailing smoothly. Not Tef.

Sushant Bhartiya
>>148156052

Hey Evil Bob- the way you r expressing- more likely you are “Evil Boob” mate! Anyway I don’t bother! I just have to write some useless codes sitting here leisurely for some American European company and pay for these placeholders, while they take your jobs and sending it to us for free!

Evilebob
>>148113229

I'm actually more surprised/appalled that he backcharged for the 6 months of writing absence by adding additional placeholders for every month since he's returned and not for increased productivity. To be clear I don't give a fk about productivity I'm just pointing out the charging for lack of it. He didn't increase his work effort, he just increased how much he charged to make the difference.

Evilebob
>>148156052

Thank you so much for taking those jobs, mate—honestly, they sucked so bad we had to give them to our least talented folks just to keep them busy. But you guys, well, you’ve turned it into an art form. The best part? When the work comes back half-baked, we at senior levels get paid double to fix the screwups. So, in a way, you’re not just the cream to my coffee—you’re the espresso shot that keeps the profits rolling in. I couldn’t do it without you, and for that, I tip my hat. Keep up the good work; you’re making my job a lot easier and a whole lot more profitable. Cheers to being exactly who you are!

Michael56Smith
>>148156052

Oh that Evilebob, he is a quite creative spin-doctor, .... I won't block him, he writes more words per month than our Tef, ... Lots to read in between chapters, .... ;-) ttfn

The comments are a lot more pleasant once you block the commenters that make no sense. lol.

Big Dude

Tefler, you claimed to use August as catchup? What happened? Did you pull a Biden and take a long vacation? Is your new prime minister causing writers block?

Ben

I’m glad you hope to make serious headway into the backlog. I hope someone randomly gives me a billion dollars. Based on history neither outcome is likely, but mine might actually be more likely.

Chandler

(soon to be)

Chandler

Hey everyone, Here is chapter 182 I will just do one placeholder today for chapter 212 My apologies again, but I hope to make some serious headway into the backlog in 2025. Regards,

Luke

I love Tef’s writing and this story is fantastic. That being said, I am reducing my subscription from $25/month to $1/month until Tef is entirely caught up and has stopped charging for 1-2 placeholders per month. I want to support the fantastic writing not give away money for promises of chapters that are months or years away from being written. Tef, once you are caught up, I will consider increasing my contributions back to my now former levels.

Sceptre
>>148214516

And you're posting this here because you want to start a movement and get others to follow your example? There is a message button at the top of the page where you can send that info directly to Tefler where, I imagine, he would read it. Why post your personal business out in the open?

GH

Tefler please stop putting up placeholders. It isn’t fair on your supporters.

Luke
>>148214516

Telfer obviously knows what he’s doing by charging for 1-2 placeholders per month while releasing less than a chapter per month on average this year. He’s released 6 complete chapters in the past 12 months and has charged for at least twice that during the same timeframe. I can understand that life happens and that health stuff can massive hamper his ability to write, however, it is not fair to continue to charge for placeholders when a simple post that was not charged for explaining that there would be delays would be much more fair to his fans and supporters (and possibly encourage people to contribute more per chapter so he can continue to pay his bills). If he wants donations, he can ask for them and set up a link for people to donate with. I’m in no way expecting anyone else to do what I’m doing. I’m simply letting him know in a public way that I’m frustrated with the way we are being treated. If you don’t like my opinions, scroll past bud.

>>148214516

I am only contributing 2 dollars a month, and have been for a while, I post here because I want other to know that their annoyance at what Tef is doing is not misplaced. And that they are not alone.

Aussie Rob

Still trying to squeeze a little more blood outta that stone, huh? To quote the Patreon Creator Support pages: "Instead of thinking of your paid posts as things that your members have 'purchased' try to think about your paid posts as content you’ve created." If that was the case, you just got 4300+ people to pay at least a dollar for less than 30 words of actual created content. Wish I could get that much per word.

Big Dude
>>148201133

Politics, really? You mean he pulled a Harris and didn't show up for over 30 days.

Scruples44

Tefler is probably a nice guy, but too many broken promises, makes him untrustworthy.

Mike Biagio

I have lots of other stories to keep me busy.

Michael56Smith
>>148574563

Justin, ..... Tef has been writing TSM chapters since December of 2015, and he knows his life and expenses better than you or I do, .... I do not doubt that you are giving advice in good faith, but let's let him make his own decisions / mistakes, .... okay? ... ;-) ttfn

BravoSierra

I see people complaining about the backlog. I always remember that I pay for a well written chapter and I am willing to wait. If Tefler was looking to just take money he could have wiped out the backlog by breaking the last few chapters into smaller parts. Tefer may have a backlog but ever chapter he publishes provides full value and is worth waiting for. If you want to complain enjoy typing and I hope that venting makes you feel better. If you want to write about reducing your contribution, I thank you, not, for over sharing. I enjoy reading the productive comments but why publish your complaints? I guess that this is my long winded way of saying I support Tefler. Have a wonderful. Think before you type and ask yourself what would your mother think?

Jim lynch

Teller I think I’ve been one of the biggest critics of your placeholders I truly hate them lol but I just don’t see an end to them so I say just scrap them forget the backlog forget owing us all 8 chapters or however many it is and start afresh just forget about the ones you owe. I’m past it now I’m sick of fighting with people for £40 plus tax’s lol so end it all now by doing a vote on here just like the votes you’ve done before about which character you want artwork done next but do it for forgetting about what you owe us all and end this shit once and for all but if you do this you can’t ever start doing them again.

As a kid I was always told to only use the word "sorry" if I meant I would do my best to keep it from ever happening again. So stop apologising and just own up to screwing people over monthly. Seems like the ethical thing to do.

Deanecho Toasto

Wow, I'm a newbie to Tefler's membership page. I have caught up with the Three Square Meals stories. Now, I'm wondering if this is normal for these placeholders and delays? I hope not, Tefler is a great writer and I'm anxious to see the direction the story will take.

Michael56Smith
>>148824977

Well Deanecho, Tef started out dropping TSM chapters back in December of 2015, and throughout 2016 and 2017 he sometimes dropped several chapters in a month, .... then he settled into a one chapter per month pattern for a time, .... then during the last couple of years, he has had a number of family problems, mother-in-law health problems. a leaky roof, and his own health issues too, .... that's when he started doing placeholders regularly, .... I hope he gets to feeling better soon, .... ;-) ttfn

Well, since we’re asking, what would your mother think if she knew you were happily throwing your hard-earned money at this? Supporting business practices like this? I can almost hear her now—"Oh, my darling, really? You’re paying someone for empty promises, not actual chapters? You know, when I was your age, we didn’t just hand out money for nothing. But I guess you know better." She’d probably tilt her head, give you that long, disappointed look, and sigh. "You’re telling me you’re paying someone upfront, knowing full well they might not deliver anything? And what exactly do you get for this? A placeholder? A promise? My sweet boy, when did we start paying for sandwiches that might never come? Who raised you like this? Not me!" And then, she’d probably add: "Listen, if you want to be generous, that’s fine. But there’s a difference between generosity and letting someone use you as their personal piggy bank. This isn’t support, darling—it’s enabling. If you’re going to spend your money, at least get something real in return, not an IOU for later. But hey, if you’re happy being taken advantage of, who am I to say anything? I’m just your mother." So, maybe it’s not the complaints from others that you should worry about. Maybe it’s the inevitable sigh from your mother when she finds out you’ve signed up to be someone’s placeholder sponsor. Just a thought.

the British “sorry”—a word so versatile, so nuanced, that it could very well be its own language. Let’s theorize together, in wonderful detail, why the British sorry is unlike any other apology in the world. A simple five-letter word that holds multitudes. Shall we? Theory One: The Politeness Buffer The British sorry is, first and foremost, a politeness buffer. It’s not an apology in the traditional sense; rather, it’s a social lubricant, a way to ease the inevitable awkwardness of daily life. Imagine walking down a narrow street, brushing against someone’s arm, and hearing “sorry”—but neither of you is truly sorry. It’s more like saying, “I acknowledge this uncomfortable moment, but let’s not linger on it.” Now, extend this to larger transgressions—say, taking a few bills out of someone’s wallet. The British sorry in this context might sound like: “Sorry, I’m just going to help myself to this... it’s awkward for both of us, I know, but let’s not make a scene about it.” There’s no real regret, but there is a deep need to smooth over the discomfort, to make the act feel a bit more civilized. Theory Two: The Avoidance Strategy Another possibility is that the British sorry is less about expressing remorse and more about avoiding conflict. You see, the word sorry can be wielded like a shield, deflecting any potential confrontation. It’s not about owning up or changing behavior; it’s about maintaining the social peace. So, imagine someone taking your wallet, rifling through it, and pulling out a few bills. They look up, catch your eye, and say, “Sorry, just taking a bit, you understand.” The brilliance here is that the word sorry acts as a preemptive strike, neutralizing your anger before it even has a chance to form. It’s as if to say, “Well, I’ve acknowledged the wrongdoing, so we can all move on, yes?” A masterstroke in British diplomacy, where conflict is resolved before it truly begins. Theory Three: The Empathy Mirage Ah, but here’s another possibility—the British sorry isn’t actually about the speaker at all; it’s about creating an illusion of empathy. It’s the kind of sorry that gives you the sense that they truly feel for your plight, even as they’re taking advantage of you. Picture this: someone has their hand in your wallet, slowly peeling away your money. They look at you with a sorrowful gaze and say, “Oh, I’m terribly sorry about this, truly. But you see, it’s just what has to happen, isn’t it?” It’s a sorry that creates the illusion of shared suffering. They’re not just robbing you—they’re letting you know that they, too, are pained by the circumstances... even as they keep the cash. Theory Four: The Ritualistic Sorry Could it be that the British sorry has evolved into something ritualistic? A word so engrained in the culture that it no longer carries any real weight but must be said, like a social incantation. It’s akin to tipping one’s hat or shaking hands. It’s not meant to convey any real sense of regret—only that the social dance must continue uninterrupted. Now, imagine being pickpocketed by someone who says “Sorry about this, terribly inconvenient, I’m sure, but you know how it is.” In that moment, the sorry serves not to express guilt but to maintain the ritual of civility, even as you’re being swindled. It’s the ultimate British paradox—acknowledging the wrong, yet continuing as if nothing’s really amiss. Theory Five: The Passive Aggressive Masterpiece Of course, there’s also the sorry that’s less an apology and more a subtle, passive-aggressive jab. This sorry is often delivered with the air of someone who knows full well that they are in the wrong but is perfectly content to proceed anyway. Imagine someone holding your wallet, looking you dead in the eye as they pull out a few notes, and saying, “Sorry about this, but it seems you won’t be needing all of it, will you?” It’s a brilliant move—a sorry that pretends to be apologetic while doubling down on the act itself. You’re left wondering, “Wait, am I supposed to feel bad about this?” Theory Six: The Sorry Economy Finally, let’s consider the possibility that the British have developed a kind of economy of sorrys. They know they’ll need to dole out several apologies over the course of the day, so each one becomes slightly less meaningful—after all, you can’t be expected to pour true regret into every single sorry, can you? So, while someone might apologize as they take money from your wallet, they’re simply balancing the books of their apology budget. “Sorry, but, you know, I’ve got a few more of these to hand out today.” It’s not that they’re not sorry—it’s just that there’s only so much sorry to go around. Conclusion: The British Sorry as a Masterwork And so, we come to understand the British sorry in all its forms: a word that can be polite, evasive, empathetic, ritualistic, passive-aggressive, or even an apology given with a sigh of resignation. It’s not about owning up or making things right; it’s about keeping the social machinery running smoothly, even in the most absurd or morally questionable circumstances. Whether you're getting shortchanged at the pub or witnessing someone take a few bills from your wallet, the British sorry is less about the action and more about the performance. So, the next time someone says “sorry” while holding your wallet, just remember—it’s not about regret. It’s about maintaining that oh-so-important air of civility while the world spins ever on.

Any ETA on 171? Thanks for the update

GreyManley
>>148661928

I made a similar suggestion a while back, adding to it that everyone would pay a monthly contribution and that Tefler would something up EVERY couple of weeks for us. I like the idea of voting on it as well.

GreyManley
>>148574563

Tefler's best thinking has turned a reading joy into a series of disappointments. I don't see the wisdom of paying him to make the same mistake over and over.

Big Orca

Honestly, we are so far behind, and new content comes out so slowly, that I’ve pretty much lost interest. Don’t really care when Faye come back, definitely don’t care about the guy on trial (never did). Yeah, i think stopping the subscription is for me now. Maybe I’ll be bored in 3 months and come back.

Evilebob
>>148947963

Ah, well, you see, Tefler is just about to start preparing to begin getting ready to get ready for the process of thinking about starting to consider preparing for the initial stages of contemplating whether he should begin the preliminary planning of when to eventually start drafting the outline for Chapter 171. Of course, we can all predict with some degree of confidence that a very timely update will coincidentally occur right around the time when rent is due—an update containing an unknown quantity of… something. Will it be a completed chapter, a snippet, or perhaps just a placeholder? Only time (and the due date) will tell. In the meantime, don’t forget to participate in the upcoming Kyth Psychic of the Month contest, where we’ll test our skills at foretelling Tefler’s next move. And let’s give another round of applause to JB for his masterful predictoring last month—truly a sight to behold! Good luck, seers, and stay tuned for whatever may or may not be coming next!

Semper Fido

Not saying I have any proof but I feel like this isn't Tefler writing anymore. The style has changed. Maybe he has just evolved but it just doesn't feel like the same writer. Could explain why it takes so long to complete the chapters and the big break before returning. I hope I'm completely wrong because that would mean something happened to him. Just my 2 cents. Let me know what you think.

Evilebob
>>149099200

How did you discover my secret? I planned so carefully… meticulously, even. Yet here you are, peering through the veil of deception. But I’ll bet you’ll never guess when the swap happened, or how. It all started the moment I saw Tefler do something so audacious, so bold, it shook me to my core—he charged for an empty post. Not just a simple lapse in content, but a placeholder, as he called it. A blank promise. And people paid. They paid willingly. That was when I knew: this was no ordinary writing gig, this was an untapped goldmine. The thought festered, grew—how could I control this endless resource of free-flowing income based on anticipation and thin air? I watched, waited, learned. I studied Tefler’s habits, his style, his readers, and—most importantly—his timing. I realized there was a way to take it all. It wasn’t easy, of course. Tefler wasn’t just going to hand over the placeholder empire. So I planned, meticulously. A swap like this required patience and precision. I made my move during that big break he took, when the readers thought he had vanished into the ether. Little did they know, I had already begun planting the seeds of my takeover. It was subtle at first: a few suggestions, some nudging in his ear about “creative burnout” and “needing a break.” He took the bait, stepped away, and in that moment of hesitation, I acted. I didn’t replace Tefler immediately—oh no. That would’ve been too obvious. I had to make it look seamless. So I crafted a plan, a long, slow fade, where my influence would grow ever so slightly, while his would diminish. I trained myself to mimic his style, his cadence, even his very thought process. But then… I had to evolve. Too much sameness would be suspicious. I knew the style had to change just enough to seem like a natural progression. Readers like you would notice, of course—but not enough to raise the alarm, just enough to make you wonder. And now, here I am, sitting atop the placeholder throne. Every time you see a blank space where a chapter should be, it’s not Tefler behind the scenes—it’s me, the puppet master of anticipation. Each placeholder, a well-placed promise designed to stretch out the game just a little longer, to keep the coffers flowing with every flicker of hope that maybe this time the chapter will drop. You see, the beauty of placeholders is that they require no content, no delivery—just the endless cycle of “coming soon.” And you? You’re all part of the grand design. The empire of placeholders is a well-oiled machine, a self-perpetuating system that feeds on expectation. And it will never run dry. So now that you know the truth, I have just one question: When do you think the swap really happened? Think back. Was it during that long break, or even before that? Maybe it was right after that one chapter you thought felt a little… different. You’ll never know for sure. But as long as the placeholders keep flowing, does it really matter? Stay tuned... there's more to come... eventually.

AzureReader
>>149099200

I agree. If the Tefler that wrote the first 135 chapters wrote the most recent battle it would have panned out very differently. Still, I doubt its physically a different person. Mentally Tef has clearly been taken down by medical challenges and may no longer have the energy needed to reach the high benchmark Tefler set with earlier chapters. I’m sad this had to happen at the climax of the epic for everyone’s sake, especially Tefler’s. Good health isn’t guaranteed for any of us.

Do I have to have discord to be able to enter my prediction? a teaser 1/4 chapter this weekend, then another 1/2 of that chapter to end the month. 2 placeholders added. excuse will involve children school schedule issues.

“some serious headway into the backlog in September” Well… we are almost 2 weeks in now and nothing. I don’t think you’re gonna make any headway into the backlog this month, let alone anything serious.

JB

I read that Tefler has chronic gallbladder issues. His gallbladder and family have been acting up for the past couple of years. Michael56Smith appears to have a firm grasp of what’s happening.

People are assuming they know what “serious headway” means. The long suffering know that statistically “serious headway” means 1/4 to 1/2 of one chapter delivered the last moment of the month and 1 or 2 pre charges. Tefler can write a lot slower than these statistical averages (nothing for months). In rare cases he can write faster (a whole chapter, or even two in a blue moon). To avoid disappointment I wouldn’t expect faster. Tef has mentioned gall stone issues. I doubt we know the half of it. But we do know statistically what to expect from him.

I don't recognize any other Patron's 'right' to abrogate a debt owed to me by Tefler. I would imagine I'm not the only person who doesn't consider a majority vote binding as a voiding of a contract or promise. I absolutely would report Tefler to Patreon for breach of promise if he did hold such a vote and it passed. Again, I doubt I'm the only one. I mention this for two reasons: to give public notice of it, and to point out that the idea is a non-started unless it's unanimous -- which it won't be. Now, having said that, people need to look up how to limit the number of times a month they can be charged by someone they're supporting, and DO IT. Placeholders will stop only when they stop being useful as a means to pull in money without actually delivering chapters. Limiting to one charge per month is a good start.

Big Dude

Did I miss the Chapter 170 corrections?

Michael56Smith

-- Tef says "Please let me know if you notice any typos. I'll be away for a few days after posting this, but I'll make any corrections as soon as I return." -- So, I'd guess that Tef hasn't made it back yet? .... a few days? .... '-) ttfn

I was mearly making a suggestion it would have obviously needed a 100% agreement by all to be allowed anyway so have no fear I too have spent the last year being angry due to placeholders but I doubt they will ever be paid in full or stopped entirely so it’s a losing battle in my eyes I’ve been in touch with Patreon and they said I’ve to ask tefler for my money back firstly and I’ve done that three times with zero reply from him so I’m still waiting to see what I’ve to try next.

🎉 It’s Time for the September Psychic Kyth’faren Predictions Contest! 🎉 Fellow soothsayers, seers, and fortune tellers, the stars have aligned, and it’s time to gaze into your crystal balls once more! As we approach the heart of September, the next Psychic Kyth’faren Predictions Contest is officially open! But first, let’s give one more round of applause to JB, last month’s Psychic Kyth’faren champion! 🎉 JB’s spot-on prediction earned them the coveted title, and it was a masterclass in foresight. Well done, JB—your predictive prowess shall be remembered in the annals of Kyth’faren lore! September Contest: Do you have what it takes to claim this month’s title? Here’s how to enter: 1. Productivity Prediction: What do you foresee being delivered this month? Will it be a full chapter, a partial chapter, or a beautifully crafted placeholder? Be specific! 2. Excuses Prediction (Optional): If delays occur, what will the excuses be? How many placeholders do you predict? Will it be a classic excuse, or will we be graced with something entirely new and exotic? Important: Posts must follow this format to be eligible. Bonus points for those who include excuse predictions (optional), but the most accurate prediction overall will win! Let the predictions begin! May the most insightful among you rise to the ranks of Kyth’faren this month. Remember, the future may be uncertain, but there’s nothing more entertaining than trying to predict it in the world of Tef! Good luck, and may the stars guide your visions!

This is such a one sided relationship it’s becoming borderline toxic. On one side we (the fans) : we love your writing and story so much… (Teff): I love all you too, I’ve had a bad month, so I need to charge you double, but I swear, not only will I make it up to you, but I’ll never do it again, I swear never ever ever… (fans): ok we totally hope you’re feeling better and support you…Rinse, Charge, Repeat,Rinse, Charge, Repeat, to infinity…. And beyond!!!!

Keepit simple

Funatic "The Gamer" on patreon. Great story and author. 1751 chapters and releasing new chapters at least weekly. Actually responds to comments and doesn't lie or precharge. I gladly support a few authors that I enjoy their work. Some here are taking on "battered spouse" talking points. Not going to attack Tef as it truly is pointless. Came to post about an ongoing story I am enjoying and list an author I think is worth supporting. Have found similar comments in the past here that lead me to other authors I follow and support. Thanks again Mike for posting about Burntredstone!

LOL. Thanks! I appreciate that you see my stuff in the same category as Tefler's, but I promise, we're not the same person. (Though you'll never catch us together in the same room.)

This contribution is solely with regard to these “Placeholder” chapters. I read the odd story on the storiesonline website, where I happened across Three Square Meals a little late in the story. I think it was around chapter seventy. So, when I read people wingeing, and whining about these placeholder chapters, all I want to do is shout at them, about all the chapters they have not contributed anything towards. Now, as I’ve said, I “owe” Tefler for the first seventy chapters, so, as far as I’m concerned, Tefler can charge all the flaming Placeholder chapters he wants. It’s not as if he hasn’t delivered on his previous placeholder chapters promises. The man is having health issues. Stop pressuring him, it must be hellishly stressful for him, which will not help with his health issues, and I doubt if it be helpful getting his creativity flowing, now, will it? Give it a rest people!

You talk about pressure as if there’s an external deadline hanging over the author’s head, but the reality is that any deadlines here are self-imposed. If you truly want to support him beyond the placeholders, there are plenty of options—you could purchase his books on Amazon or even ask him for a proper, adult way to donate directly. That’s the difference, though, isn’t it? Your generosity is commendable, but in this case, you’re not exactly being given the option to contribute willingly. Instead, you’re being positioned as a receptive vessel from which funds can be taken at the author’s discretion, using a billing system meant for content delivery. Whether or not he eventually fills those placeholders with the promised content is beside the point—the fact remains that he is under no legal obligation to do so, and the billing system is being exploited. Supporting this practice, whether out of gratitude for past chapters or empathy for health struggles, is your choice. But let’s not overlook the broader issue: this kind of behavior, where promises linger unfulfilled and payments are collected regardless, perpetuates a negative cycle. It’s an exploitative approach that shouldn't be normalized, and it’s likely only a matter of time before the platform takes notice and enforces whatever consequences they deem necessary. So, while your support comes from a good place, it might be worth considering whether you’re enabling a flawed system rather than truly helping the author in the way he needs. If the goal is to support him, let’s find a way that doesn’t involve compromising the integrity of the content creators' space or your own generosity.

I will donate to your cause with this post worth $20 exactly: PLACEHOLDER POST – $20 VALUE Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you know that I’m currently in the process of getting ready to start preparing to think about possibly beginning the outline for a new chapter. It’s a crucial stage, full of deep contemplation and mental gymnastics, where I decide whether to use a comma or a semicolon in that pivotal opening sentence. This kind of creativity can’t be rushed, as you can imagine. So, while the actual chapter may take just a bit longer to materialize, this placeholder represents all the potential and promise of what’s to come! It’s like investing in a fine wine, where the value isn’t in what you have now but in what it could become… eventually. Think of it as a down payment on anticipation, an advance ticket to the show that hasn’t been announced yet. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and $20 contributions. Your support makes it possible for me to continue crafting these exquisite placeholders that hold the promise of chapters yet to come. Stay tuned for more updates (and maybe even some content)! Best wishes, Tefler

OK - Evilebob wants accuracy and detail. Here goes: I predict a partial of 171 and two placeholders. The reason will be that the UK NHS doctor who initially diagnosed Tef's gallstones has himself been taken ill, and a replacement doctor has now diagnosed Tef with Mirizzi syndrome which is a rare complication of chronic gallstone disease. It happens when a large gallstone or cluster of stones gets stuck in the gallbladder or cystic duct. This causes swelling that can block the flow of bile, and will be said to be the cause of Tef's jaundice, inflammation and infection. In consequence of this development, Tef has to wait on the NHS system for another 3 months before getting a referral to a specialist. While waiting, Tef suffers an episode of Gallstone Ileus which is where the bowel becomes obstructed by a gallstone, and an abnormal channel, known as a fistula, opens up near the gallbladder. Gallstones are able to travel through the fistula and can block the bowel. Symptoms including heartburn, chest pain, indigestion, bloating, nausea and diarrhea ensue. Are we having fun yet?

Big Dude

Since Tefler admitted to Cholecystitis a while ago, he will finally have his surgery and the condition will be rectified. He will apologize for 1.5 chapters being written and 2 placeholders because his NHS co-pay will require a second placeholder. Reminder, Cholecystitis is caused by stones that block the tube leading from the gallbladder to the small intestine.

Tyler Derkearmian
>>150024460

Dude you need to scroll back through and see that these placeholders and empty promises and alleged health issues are ongoing for longer than he should honestly be alive through them. I work medical Care in the US ain't arguably one of the slowest and most ridiculously overpriced medical worlds on the planet. With all the placeholders that have his place he could have flown to the US had the surgery for top dollar and flown home already. At this point this far into it with this much money that he's raked off placeholders and empty promises he has no excuse. If you're still buying it then you just haven't read enough into the situation.

Michael Pritchett

I'm sure he is doing everything he can to get the chapters to us. We need to be patient and courteous to the writer, these stories take time.

Evilebob
>>150464596

Yes, you’re absolutely right! Tef is doing everything he can to “get the chapters to you.” And by everything, I mean an extensive list of crucial activities like: Planning. Prepping. Thinking. Re-thinking. Organizing his sock drawer. Alphabetizing the pantry. Writing a grocery list (for inspiration, of course). Daydreaming about character backstories. Meditating to clear writer’s block. Taking the dog for a walk (to brainstorm ideas). Taking the cat for a walk (because fairness). Doing the dishes (he does his best plotting while scrubbing). Taking the wife out to dinner (creative bonding time). Watching a documentary on procrastination (for research purposes). Reading a book on time management (slowly, very slowly). Building a LEGO replica of the story’s setting (for accuracy). Learning to play the ukulele (to unlock creative flow). Rewriting his author bio for the 27th time. Sorting through emails from supportive readers like you. Writing heartfelt placeholder updates. Perfecting his coffee brewing technique (caffeine = creativity). Learning calligraphy to enhance the aesthetic of his notes. Arranging the home office for optimal feng shui. Calculating the optimal word count for the perfect chapter. Re-watching the entire Star Wars saga (for thematic inspiration). Practicing yoga to get into the right mindset. Repainting the living room (creative ambiance matters). Sketching out story arcs on napkins (the real planning happens there). Contemplating the universe and his place in it. Finally, planning how to squeeze in another placeholder for some extra “doing” funds for next month! 😄

@EvileBob The gods of satire and prose have abandoned their once-chosen earthly ambassador. Looking to write yet another brilliant comment rivaling Swift's "Modest Proposal," the disciple has stumbled, forced to resort to one-liners rather than carefully forged linguistic artistry. In his fallen state, he stooped for low-hanging fruit, failing to craft more worthy examples. But, having shown my magnanimity many times in these comments, I will come to EvileBob's rescue, hoping that he will find his muse again and spur our author on to greater heights with his satirical and often biting commentary. I offer the following to help fans catch a glimpse into the pain our dear author endures on our behalves as he does what he must, delivering pages for our unworthy eyes to read. Most fans are well aware of this process, so please forgive me if this becomes dull. To wit, @EvileBob, please attend: Lesser souls do not understand the amount of effort our dedicated author expends on delivering each chapter to his patient and pliable readers. Some readers and fans are aware of the incredible dedication our most beloved author shows as he exports all of the words in each proposed upcoming chapter to a comma-delimited file, only to re-import them as rows in an Excel spreadsheet upon which he executes a brilliantly written Visual Basic macro, which randomizes the resulting list. I have it on good authority that only three readers are aware of the care our author takes in correctly formatting this spreadsheet for printing on sheets of labels. Only two fans know the days it takes for our author to peel each label and carefully decide whether the word on the label should be kept as a word for the chapter or affixed to a wall of discarded words. I am unaware of any reader who has seen this wall of discarded words in its magnificent totality, although I suspect it to be glorious in appearance. I am aware some funds from reader support go to upkeep and continuously expand the wall of discarded words. Before I pass from this plane of existence, I hope to be worthy and lucky enough to lay my eyes upon this wall. Rumor has it that over one hundred square meters of wall space have been added to the author's residence in the past two months, entirely covered by small, unassuming rectangular stickers containing a single discarded word. Our author personally constructs not only the chapters from which these words are culled but also the very walls themselves, painstakingly sanding and smoothing the plaster and drywall to achieve a smooth surface ready for each discarded word label. I believe this wall to be the literary equivalent of the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel -- but I digress. It is only after the randomized list of words has been reduced to those deemed "worthy" of our readership that the remaining words are carefully re-assembled as the chapter that will be presented to the grueling review process. Most of us are aware of the extensive review process our author uses, which begins with the use of an AI grammar reviewer and ends with the final approval of a blind telephone psychic who goes by the name "Steve Rainbow" and lives seasonally in a remote forest which only has basic cell coverage for thirty-five minutes every other day. Steve is known for giving brilliant feedback on how each word sounds as it is read with its companion words, and he has been 87% accurate in predicting whether any five words read to him will generally please the vast majority of readers of this series. It is unsurprising that chapters take as long as they do. Whiners and naysayers betray their ignorance of the artistry, technical brilliance, and sheer determination expended on their ungrateful and small lives to bring them the entertainment they crave from this story. It is why the rest of us tire of urging patience and common sense in the mundane comments often posted by those who are not true believers. Perhaps my above recitation of the writing process as it is known will change hearts and minds for the better, although I assume much in my hope. I have labored hard to bring you what I can; may it offer you some solace during the dark days ahead. In the future, may @EvileBob continue to encourage you as you await the delivery of the next masterwork from the author of our affection.

As requested: In the intricate tapestry of creativity, the relationship between creators and their audience is both dynamic and profound. The exchange of ideas and feedback forms the lifeblood of artistic evolution, enriching both the creator and the community. Patience is a virtue often exercised by readers eagerly awaiting the fruits of artistic labor. Yet, the creative process demands not only inspiration but also consistent effort and dedication from the creator. Without such commitment, even the most brilliant concepts may fail to materialize into tangible works. They reflect a deep appreciation for the nuances of the creative journey. Our community thrives when there is a balance between support and the expectation of progress, fostering an environment where constructive dialogue flourishes alongside encouragement. Constructive criticism, when offered thoughtfully, can serve as a catalyst for refinement and innovation. Likewise, sincere appreciation motivates creators to push beyond their perceived limits. Passive affirmations, though well-intentioned, may inadvertently perpetuate a lack of progress. However, true substance is revealed through action rather than decoration. It is the tangible efforts and visible advancements that ultimately resonate with and satisfy the audience. Unwavering patience without acknowledgment of the necessity for progress may inadvertently lead to stagnation. Participating without offering substantive content adds little to the evolving discourse. Meaningful engagement requires depth, insight, and a willingness to delve into the complexities of the subject matter. It's essential to recognize that uncritical support can contribute to maintaining a flawed system. By challenging norms and questioning complacency, we pave the way for growth and improvement. Our collective responsibility lies in nurturing an environment that values both encouragement and honest reflection. The synergy between creators and their audience is a driving force that propels the artistic community forward. By fostering open communication and mutual respect, we can overcome obstacles and achieve shared aspirations. Each member's contribution, no matter how small, plays a role in shaping the narrative and direction of our collective journey. Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence. Keys to Hidden Messages: Florida Reader: Read sentences 7, 11, 13, 14, and 16. Michael56Smith: Read sentences 3, 6, 10, and 13. I'll give you until Tef's next post to get your responses. Sorry it's not longer but you didn't really give yourself a lot of time on this cycle. Robster - Actually, I didn't read TSM on literotica but on SOL. That said, when an author posts a story for free, payment is not expected. When I started paying here on Patreon, I'm entitled to certain things - advanced viewing of chapters, the right to post comments Tefler will read and respond to, etc., The problem is when I continue to pay for placeholder chapters that keep accumulating and have not come close to being made up. I know it is not and there is reason (Tefler's health) but after a while, it feels like, well, a scam. I'm happy to support online authors by purchasing their books or chapters. In fact, I currently pay monthly to five authors because I support what they do. Your attempt to make me feel guilty for reading the first 54 chapters for free is misguided, sir.
