Hey everyone!

I've just completed chapter 174, so I really hope you enjoy it.

Please let me know if you spot any typos.

Best wishes,

Tefler

Garrett

I will always be appreciative of a completed chapter.

Rayce Royal

Really looking forward to reading it! You are a master storyteller

LF

As much as we've been highlighting the issue with placeholders, I think Tefler deserves thanks for skipping those this month. Yes, yes, I know - they shouldn't have been there in the first place and I don't disagree. Still, if things get better it should be remarked on as much - if not more - than when there was a problem. So, thank you - appreciated.

AzureReader

A full fucking chapter! Congrats man. Seriously. We know you’ve been trying but this month you’ve succeeded and we don’t take that for granted.

Cignal

Thanks Tefler.

DeyCal1

Yes!! I've started the whole thing over...im on chapter 78...thanks tefler

James Glass

Love it. The last line was so fitting, and so hilarious.

AzureReader

Oh, there’s placeholders coming. Don’t worry about that. Hopefully a bit of chapter 175 also.

AzureReader

This was a pretty good one. Glad you turned a nightmare scenario into a reprieve of at least 3-12 weeks. Looking forward to new tech discoveries, and other parts of the story advancing so that they are ready for the ifnal showdown!

Charles Bell IV

Just what I needed to read! Love the full chapter. Hopefully Dana can fix the evil within the soulforge and make it better for the upcoming invasion

Jeff

This comment didn't age well

John Lisbeth

Page 18:  The Latina shuddered as she remember her friend healing the Aeltarian troops that had been shot in the boarding action. Should be "remembered"". Page 25: She curled her arms and legs around him, and held John close, murmuring how much she loved him as he empty his quad. Should be "emptied". John Lisbeth

ThunderBird Two

They could really do with a heavy squad weapon. Imagine an arrogant Prog advancing on a squad of the girls, completely ignorant that he is going to be turned in to mince meat, by a runic penetrator, belt fed 50 cal.

Erotic Poetic

I’m glad to see Teller finally got help writing his chapters. Whoever the ghost writer is seems to flow well with the storyline. Two and a half chapters of recap though… 😬🫤. Can Teller get another ghost writer to draft some of the next chapters so that he can edit in some actual progress into the story? Some tech advances, Valeria and Edraelle waking up, the Star Forge realization… John or the girls realizing realizing that he can put Fae (or at least her personality) or Athena into Caerthyna since John doesn’t need to go into the deep astral to get a spark of consciousness… SOMETHING?!? This chapter took place over a total of 6 hours? Can we please get more than 80% recap of the last chapter in the next chapter… please 🙏🏽?

Silent Count

"...she fainted." lol - New Empress, emotional KIA in the first hour of leadership. Glad to hear you are doing better!

Goul

When John is done liberating all the thrall races, is he going to produce a pregnant rainbow?

ThunderBird Two

Are Gal and Alts empires still feeding thralls in to soul forges? No ones told them to stop.

LF

It did not, no. Sigh. @Azurereader you were entirely right.

DevilDoc82

IIRC the soul forge requires a prog to operate it. No prog, no production thus no thralls to feed it.

John the 5th

That was a great chapter. Some new and dangerous threats and a few new characters. I don't know how you do it. Are there three of you? thanks for the terrific read.

Jonathan Fowler

Chapter 174: "The Latina shuddered as she remember her final healing ..." should read " ... remembered ..."

Vizth Hal

Setting up to speed run the progenitor war aside, the end of this chapter was worth the wait. Hopefully after they're all dead we can get a few chill chapters before the story either wraps up all together, or they start some new plotline.

John the 5th

How many stories have you written?

Garrett

Yeah, he's never going to surprise us. He's phoning it in, that's pretty obvious. I keep coming back, hoping for a positive change, but Tefler doesn't care. He wants his money. We can all get fucked. And before my beloved ttfn chimes in, I want to point out that even though Tefler has never said anything hurtful or disrespectful to his fans, his actions towards us say plenty. He has no problem taking money from every single one of us, and then lying about what we're going to get in return. He's a dishonest, dishonorable thief and he doesn't deserve any of the loyalty and patience and compassion we've shown as a community of patrons. Screw his excuses and to hell with his damned lies. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his back hair.

ThunderBird Two

I don't remember that. That would mean the Progs need to at least oversee all production. seems unlikely.

ThunderBird Two

"This doesn't seem realistic considering that the goal of all Progenitors is to kill eachother. Is there anything I miss?" They all jumped in cloaked. As they can't detect cloaked vessels, they probably don't know the others are there. X probably told them to jump to "Z" then follow this path to "Y". What John and the Girls need to do is expand the cloak breaker network (with cloaked cloak breakers), so they can track the bad guys. Then have a scout "stumble across" the bad guys and barely escape, to keep the cloak breaker secret.

Michael56Smith

... when Xar'aziuth speaks, Progenitors listen, ... -- promises. promises, .... Tef writes and we thankfully take what he gives us, ... -- Hummm, .., you could possibly have the Malari (using Dana made Schmatics) build John a few 10's of thousands of cloaked cloak-breaker sensors to scatter all over the place, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

.... okay, maybe it is time to start the Sequel, ... starring Tom Walker, ... ;-) ttfn

Eric

Great chapter!!! I’ll keep my faith in you to gradually overcome your backlog.

The forge doesn’t need a prog, it needs psychic energy. John used the device so thralls didn’t have their life force sucked out to make the black metal.

Stephen Paynter

Bravo! Bravo! A great chapter. The introduction of six new dreadnaughts is a super twist - it raises the stakes! ....The only thing I am worried about is all the disabled fleets of thrall ships scattered over Malari space. They must be outside of Helene's range, and I fear they might have committed suicide before they can be recruited. John went to so much trouble to only destroy their engines, but when will they be able to be rescued?

zurvan2

Great chapter! I did notice a couple instances of "Kaiju" instead of "Kaija". ;)

ThunderBird Two

And what happens if one of the new Progs stumbles across them? John needs to learn to delegate, and recovering these ships and crew is one of those tasks.

Macros47

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I see Rus saying he's writing the story now. I complaint about the quality of the writing going down since ch 115-120, becoming more and more pronounced after ch 130. Now, as Rus is just identifying himself as a writer, that doesn't really makes him a writer, and if it's true that he IS the one writing now, there might be a problem. I'm on that page supporting Tef, not some entitled little shit with a gradeur complex and nothing to justified it!!!

Macros47

Okay, if someone at this date still needs proof that this story is going to shit just read this paragraph: "Alyssa turned to face him, a speculative look in her eyes. “I wouldn’t be so sure about her mother being dead. She was a gorgeous girl, and that kind of beauty can be a very valuable commodity, especially when the woman in question has no qualms about using her body to get what she wants. If Dana’s mother was determined to escape from Karron, how many ship captains would be able to resist that kind of trade for safe passage?” He considered it for a moment, then reluctantly conceded she was correct. “Alright, I get your point. If her mother was able to escape from the red-light district to reach the starport, she could have left on literally any ship docked at Karron.”' Somewhere in ch 102-104, I think it was, Rachel discovers that Dana is a product of a highly secret eugenics program. Now, how is that story connected with what we just read? How a victim of said program ends up being a prostitute in the "red light district on Karron"? The person that is writing the 3SM this days should take it's time to re-read the fcking story and maybe, just maybe memorise at least 10% of it if it's brain is even capable of it....

Unresolved Plots

You are correct that Rus made a Discord post to this effect...on April 1st. He made the same claim on Discord the previous April 1st (2024) and probably on April 1st in other years. The clue is in the date Macros47, but it seems that this has gone completely over your head (the Fools Day part of the name seems apt here), so perhaps you are not as intelligent as you think you are!! Or are you well aware of the implications of the date and this post is written because you hold a grudge against Rus, for being kicked off the Discord server last year for being abusive to a number of people on there in the short period of time you were a member? Whichever reason is correct, it seems like you have sneaked back on and are lurking under a different pseudonym, a bit stalkerish, but each to their own! If this is correct, at least we can be thankful you are at least self aware enough to remain silent over on Discord now, so we are all spared your rantings on there! As to the story quality dropping, I think you are talking complete and utter nonsense. I'm sure that Tefler has had this arc planned out since before Ch.102 and that the Tom Walker, Dana, her Mother and the Eugenics program story line will all be interconnected very soon and it will all make sense to everyone then...well almost everyone!! After Ch.173 was completed, I made a guess on Discord which is quite close to what the crew speculated in the dialogue from Ch.174 that you quote (Her mother somehow smuggled Dana away from the Eugenics Program, perhaps with some help by someone inside the program disgusted with it and or convinced to help her. She fled to the backwater colony of Karron to hide out/escape. Became a prostitute to make ends meet. She died there, or realised she was out of her depth and managed to escape, but for some reason Dana was left behind, was the jist of it). It was debated on there with some people agreeing with my guess. Therefore I don't see how it is wildly out of sync with what has previously been written in the story if readers have been able to make the same assumptions as characters in the story! It actually means the opposite imo. That it is so well written that with some minor clues a reader can unravel the mystery. You ask how an adult women/young mother, as a victim of the Eugenics program ended up on Karron, but have never questioned as being odd how a baby girl, also a victim of said program ended up there? I would think it more likely that an adult women, with the ability to communicate with other people would find it easier to get to Karron than an infant who can't communicate, but maybe I'm wrong and you have some explanation why Dana being there is not a plot issue, but her mother having been so is? BTW it is not confirmed yet! Dana's mother might never have been anywhere near to Karron in the story! They were speculating, like I did, its part of the fun of reading a story like this!

Macros47

Well, is hard to judge about that, as for people like Rus and his clique on that server April Fools is every fcking day. I did not enetered on that shity server since I was banned( abusively and for absolutely no reason by the way), someone just posted a pic with Rus" elucubrations on what has became the real 3SM server. As for you, UP, if you want to see someone stupid, just look in a mirror. Though I'm convinced you gave up on this because of the number of mirrors you broke just by looking on them....

Unresolved Plots

This is a good question imo. My guess is that if a Progenitor comes across any damaged Galkiran Thrall vessels he will simply pass them by under cloak, because his orders from Xar are to scan for habitable worlds and remain hidden whilst doing so.

Michael56Smith

...hey there Macros, I noted that there was a few things in the program's background that Tef had them dig up on that evil program, ... they had said that many a young girl / woman, were used when they were found in some kind of trouble, and then offered a phony way out of their troubles, ... so they were first recruited by the black ops eugenics program and then killed off, .... perhaps Dana's mom figured some things out and was on the run, .... can't wait for Tef's tale to let us know, ... -- Perhaps Tom Walker will run into her, ... -- She will like Tom; he has Eyes like her sweet Dana's ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

-- the Braveheart is authorized to remove TSM Crap, .... that's sort of like changing TSM diapers, right? ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Hah, he-he, .... a good ole 'face that can crack a mirror' joke, ... great! .... ;-) ttfn

ThunderBird Two

Perhaps Admiral Walker met her when inspecting the experiment. Fell in love, and arranged for her to get out? She could be Toms mum ............

Michael56Smith

Ooooh, .... Dana and Tom might be half-brother and sister, .... now then, the Invictus gang will have a reason to charge to Tom's rescue, .... yay, Tef! ... ;-) ttfn

EroticPoetic

Tom is older than Dana. There’s almost no way they have the same mother and the same father. That would require Dana’s Mom to have given birth to Tom - see golden coronas around irises, target fixation, single minded determinism, inability to cheat… Tom’s father knows he’s part of the program but didn’t tell his mother. Chances are Dana and Tom have the same father or maybe it was Tom’s war-hero uncle who was the father. From the sound of it, possibly Mason and Anna could have been part of the program as well. Tef has a lot of explaining to do to connect Tom & Dana.

Michael56Smith

... second cousins, maybe? And / or what if sneaky ole Admiral Walker got Dana's mom pregnant, then he helped her to make her escape from Tartarus to Karron ... maybe? .... ;-) ttfn

Macros47

I think you all are missing the point here. So in ch 102-104, can't remember exactly, we were told that Dana was a product of the Eugenics program. We were also told, as M56S remembered earlier that, women were lied to join the program and then those women and their progeny were killed. So, Dana's mother had enough resources and willpower to escape a super duper secret gov facility, run half a galaxy, hide her baby in one of the only places that no one would think of searching, and then disappeared probably to lose her trail, and 72 chapters later Johnette and Alyssa talk about her like she had always lived on Karron and prostitute herself in the Red District, no less!!! I do think that Admiral Walker might be Dana's father, or at least one of the providers of genetic material, and Dana can be Tom's half sister, and I do believe that her mother, or at least the woman that carried the pregnancy really saved Dana's life running from that facility, but my complain was about the way Johnette and Alyssa talk about her and what she did.

Macros47

This is not true. There is a scene where Valeria goes to visit the Soul Forge while they were building the Warp Gate and Gahl wasn't there to "operate it". And can you imagine a Prog willingly staying there to operate a piece of equipment? They could even build the things by themself like Johnette does at that point...

Macros47

Dana doesn't have to fix anything. Mael got there already... All they have to do is go to Trankara and study Mael's Forge. And the best part is they already have 2 Soul Forges already built, just waiting to be transformed...

ThunderBird Two

That can be delegated to the Malari males, with oversight from Dana.

Brian

Hey Tef, hope you're doing better. Just want to give you a little positive comment that I love this story to a degree I can't describe, and not even for the smexy parts haha. This has some of the best descriptions of space battle that I've ever read, and all the weapon and ship specs are *chef's kiss* for my brain. On a personal note, since the world is currently on fire, please please bring back Faye soon. We could desperately use her cheer right about now

Michael56Smith

04/22/25, .... I am hopeful that on 4/30/25, we weill see both chapter #175 and #176, .... but then, I am a cock-eyed optimist, .... you go Tef! ,,, ;-) ttfn

Back in chapter 170 John’s dad observed the battle with Gahl’ from his dreadnought. He was able to see Larn’s two fleets moving around ‘strangely’ because he was in Larn’s dreadnought, but could not see the other forces. He presumed they were just scouts because no ‘Maliri’ ships were lost before returning to defensive positions around the planet. In hindsight it seems odd that Rahn’ would so easily assume that Larn’s ships were manned by Maliri. He couldn’t see actual Maliri ships any better than Gahl’s forces, so he could not have known they went to salvage Larn’s ships. Nor would he have been likely to suspect that. A Progenitor has never claimed a second thrall race or taken all there ships. Forget assuming… I don’t see how Rahn’ could have guessed Maliri were manning Larn’s ships in a million years. Initially Rahn’ thought Larn’ was the last of the progenitors and was very happy… conveying the urgency about salvaging Larn’s fleets certainly wasn’t shared at that point. Once he learned John had barely defeated his first and Rahn’ tried to kill John I don’t recall there being a sharing of ‘the plan’ to requisition all of Larn’s fleets. Was it mentioned and I missed it? If there is a psychic relationship between a soul forge and all the ships that have been made by it perhaps John having the core of Larn’s soul forge aboard the Invictus means there is a way of ‘seeing’ all of Larn’s ships, including the dreadnought. Rahn’ can see all those ships even buried way inside the nebula so we know conventional sensors are not being used. Rahn’ doesn’t have the very thing that makes seeing Larn’s ships possible… the soulforge core… aboard his dreadnought. It seems like John has an advantage he doesn’t know about yet.

Jim Owens

we all definitely want that Michael! you are forever the optimist, and there is not a thing wrong with that. I havnt given up on him, but its going to take some serious output to get me to believe again in his ability to put out chapters. I certainly hope he finds his muse again. Some of those chapters back in the early days were absolutely fabulous. Even in the early 100's he some amazing ones. Here lately its just seems like its been alot of banal dialog. Not really carrying anything forward or producing any earth shaking revelations. There are so many unanswered questions that he needs to address. So many hanging threads that need to be completed. I dont see how he could have writers block. I mean i could possibly understand if he couldnt string the right words together, but to not have anything to write about, i just cant see that. Maybe he needs to re-read the whole story again and highlight the good chapters and try and figure out exactly what made them good and try to duplicate that. Like I said, Im a big fan overall. The guy has written some amazing stuff so far. I think the visceral response from many people is just a reflection of their hunger for more and better chapters that fill in the blanks that are already there rather than continuing the endless battle. Hopefully this last chapter that has the bad guys zooming off to parts unknown will give them a chance to wrap up at least a few o these loose ends. Foremost being getting Faye back. If he could accomplish that one thing I think he would buy alot of good will from the community.

Michael56Smith

yay Jim, .... come back to us Faye! ... ;-: ttfn

It has nothing to do with soulforge. The dreadnought has a psychic transceiver with which it can communicate with all ships of the empire (in this case Larn's). So it knows were they are. When they move to a new location which is closer to the dreadnought, he gets a notification that some ships have moved in system. Its a very obvious deduction that John would have requisitioned those ships. As no other Progenitor will use those ships. John does not follow progenitor rules. He does not know that John has claimed the Larathyrans. But that does not mean that he cannot use Larathyran ships.

So I just did a little Google search on word counts. I know I've bitched loudly about place holders etc. But here's the truth: "War and Peace" - Leo Tolstoy ... considered one of the longest novels ever: ~700000 words. "Three Square Meals" - Tefler... 178 chapters at an average of ~50 pages per "chapter" with a mean average of 250 words per page = more than 2 MILLION WORDS I hereby cease my complaints.
