If you read the information in his post and place holder carefully, like you read his chapters, he said he would finish the chapter and work on the back log. Nowhere in either did he say he would post any of the work. I'll bet that it's coming at the end of the month and not one day earlier.

Wael’rakash has the artifact that keeps his smaller empire in the fight, correct? I was hoping there was a way for John to acquire it… Even his matriarch wants to be free of him… and she’s only been with him for 50 years and still has her memory. Hopefully, it won’t take a year (our time) to find out what the relic is and get him into a duel with John. How many chapters does it take to get through a day now? Seems like it takes about 6 months per day. At this rate, it’ll be Christmas before Dana gets to the Star forge…

The last 20 chapters covered 3 days, so about 6-7 chapters per day. This month and last month were 1/3 chapter deliveries, but Tefler does deliver more sometimes so his average is 1/2 chapter per month. Which means it takes 12 months to write 6 chapters covering 1 day in TSM time. 12 hours to recover from the most recent jump. Jump to Kythshara, then 12 hours to recharge. Then jump to Genthalas plus 12 hours to recharge. That’s 36 hours, which will take Tefler 18 months to write at his established pace. So it will be Christmas when they jump to the Star Forge, assuming that’s the next jump. Just not this Christmas.

Tefler, oh Tefler, how could you fuck this up so badly? You even achieved 'the secret', but you've let it slip through your hands. Do you know how many people would give anything to be in your position? What is 'the secret'? Pre internet, the only way to make decent money, is to get lots and lots of people to give you a little bit of money each. This was largely achieved by being in a band, and getting a record deal, or writing a best-selling book, or by trading other peoples stocks. You managed to get a few thousand people to send you a few quid each month! And yet this wasn't enough. All you had to do was find a few hours a month to sit down and write, or work on the plot. You even gave up working, and that made the situation worse! Can't quite get my head around this monumental fuck up! No reply from Michael56 please! Even he might leave this page soon. Unless he's just a sadist.

Moving on from the monthly gripe fest… I thought the Waelentiri scene was interesting. Wasn’t it the Gahlkirians that were in a war with the Waelentiri? Their progenitor seems to be following one of the patterns Gahl’ described about the pathetic final days of an empire. The Waelentiri don’t seem to realize yet that the enemy progenitor has been vanquished. Which is not surprising. Even if Waelentiri fleets were actively engaged with Gahlkirians and they witnessed the Gahlkirian’s disengaging and returning home, I don’t think it would occur to them it was because the enemy progentior died. A normal progenitor death results in every thrall killing themselves. Thralls don’t seem to know that, but Wael’entir (or whatever his name is), would know. Any reports of odd Gahlkirian behavior, such as a sudden but orderly retreat would, look different than what would happen if every Gahlkirian thrall just shot themselves. So where is this going? It seems like Xar’ keeps progenitors at war in pairs. I’m guessing Tef is introducing the idea that when one progenitor is defeated John is going to need to do something about they other progenitor. Even if the Waelentiri don’t know what’s going on they are going to realize pretty quickly that the Gahlkirian’s are retreating, not fighting. That’s going to prompt more aggressive behavior on the part of the Waelentiri. The Gahlkirian’s may have ended their war with the Waelentiri but not the other way around… at least not until John claims them. And the enemy empire of the second progenitor John just killed. They could really use a wormhole generator with nearly instant recharge times to keep up with what needs to be done to defeat all these empires, apparently in pairs. Plus, as Irillith found, there is the potential to more easily claim all the empires recently defeated by each progenitor, before they can be claimed again, or while their new progenitor is weak.

Tefler is starting to sound like an American politician telling everyone it'll get done but it takes time if we don't do it this session we will get it done next session if you re-elect us, it just the way its going to be (we get rich, by putting/keeping you down) No respect for followers, I know first hand how hard physical ailments can effect your body and mind (been there done that) if you after more then a year haven't gotten back on the horse so to speak, you need to seek physiological help or throw in the towel and just quit writing period. Not like Tefler is going to read any of this unless he does it as someone else and tells people that we should give him the benefit of doubt the we don't know what may or may not have happened this month that prevented him from finishing what was started at the end of the month before. JMHO.

Naaw. he has a plan for what he's doing, just a not very good or covert plan! With a "less than personality"(shoulder chip), that leads him to sulk at criticism of his ways and methods is (mainly) what has led to this placeholder situation in the first place...it has led to this In part; due to the prev. mentioned personality, plus a hard core cult of enablers he sets great store by, mostly encouraging him to write these 1000 word chapters...(supposedly to catch up these placeholders: Chapter # 150 was 263KB in size but he hasn't crossed 100KB but 4 times since then, with the largest being 106KB(1)...yet Dude hasn't even tried to put a dent in the backlog. But his friends/real patrons(?) instead of taking him to task they still encourage him in his ongoing plans/scheme of monthly fraudulent activity. They're just as responsible as he is...y'all know who I'm referring to also...call em' "the usual suspects"...

In all honesty how long of actual time did it take Tef to write these scenes? All were continuations. Nothing that wasn’t part of his overall plan. What most would consider a great opportunity to turn talent into a comfortable living falls short monthly. I’m upset my job is only averaging 4o hours and this refinery isn’t as nice as his home. Given how much of a hole he’s dug for himself, he still shows ZERO effort to catch up. You can’t argue that fact because all drops are the last minute of the month so he can collect his paycheck from our pockets. I’ve waited far longer for “Winds of Winter “but at least I didn’t prepay.

I doubt even as just an admiral she had been searched in recent memory. Her height stayed the same and her weight was just redistributed. With not wanting fitted clothes, there probably isn’t a dramatic size change to an unsuspecting eye. The real question which she hasn’t had time to think about is will she remain fleet admiral with a baby? If not who would replace her?

I did think back when she was "upgraded", that they should fake her having some work done, so the disguise doesn't have so much to do, and things like the tailoring of the clothes etc can be explained away. Just imagine how the other Admirals would react if they found out how she looked now, and was using a disguise! Lots of accusations of being under Johns control, Mutiny etc ....

Without “space magic “ her reality was death or being paralyzed. Almost any alternative would be acceptable and this one would have exceeded anyone wildest dreams. Alyssa used the term redistributed and was able to alter her uniform. No one spent much time thinking of Lynette’s old shape but I pictured more out of shape cylindrical not obese. Do you really notice by looking at your wife’s clothes when she moves between small or medium. Only a few know what’s under the disguise and those that are looking at the projection wouldn’t be too interested in looking close at clothes sizes.

Future thoughts. What happens if Joh claims a group of thralls, but one of them is pregnant or has a young progenitor baby, that’s been seeded there? Can Xar tell if they’re claimed? Or does he just assume they’re free if he knows their progenitor was killed?

Having a thrall baby from a prog father shouldn’t be a problem if he breaks the original bond. He is already quite taken with Larn’s daughter. X didn’t enter John’s life until he started claiming the girls. Killing your adoptive parents seems strange after getting into a poly relationship but I’ll give Tef poetic license on that point. Tef never got into the details but John told the girls they could decide boy or girl. It was also talked about how he hated his species and wouldn’t continue it I assumed that one out of every twentieth child was a thrall boy but with tweaking at the genetic level you got a prog. Unless I missed them the details are still in Tef’s mind.

I think we can assume any male children of John’s won’t be progenitors. Males with Maliri will be Maliri males. With humans, they’d be human males, etc unless the girls change his mind. He’s not worried about Alyssa and she’s a progenitor. The obvious solution would be to give any male a ‘guide’ with his own values. To me, that’s an obvious solution.

While John told his young matriarchs that they could choose boy or girl, he also told Alyssa that his children wouldn’t be like him. Yet he turned Alyssa into a “progenitor”. However, it seems John had the power within himself to rebirth the Kyth’faren with Alyssa and his human girls, as they are an unaltered seed race that seems to be based on part of the Kyth’faren genome created by Xar and used in Mael’nerak’s genetic experiment on Terra. I’d love a storyline where the Kyth’faren are reborn through Terrans as the next step in human evolution.

Since the progenitor can control what gender the child will be at conception time, I don't think there would be any male children, unless the progenitor was told to.... Those infant progenitors that get sent to replace the defeated/killed progenitors have to come from somewhere... The other males of the thrall species would come from the 20-1 ratio on "normal" thrall couples having children...

She could not use Dana Blake when the official story was that John would be marrying Calara, .... So, was it Dana Doe? -- In a recent Fanfiction story with TSM characters, ... when Dana chose her new name, 'Dana' ,,, she also chose the last name of 'Marant' and officially became Alyssa's sister, ... I believe you are right about prog babies. Rahn was influenced by the Kyf library. John is the only Prog to discuss a guide. The only other prog to discuss his childhood was Gal and he didn’t say anything about a guide. Are we sure all progs have a guide?

John’s issues with his guide were caused from not understanding what a guide was. Didn’t know anything about it or know anyone that would. The guide was nullified with meditation and mental control achieved with martial arts. Gathering any prog children with the fore knowledge of what unique experiences they are facing could allow you to train them and prepare them to refuse X. Terror and the unknown were always in X’s favor. It was the Kyf knowledge/ tampering along with not being guided into being an arrogant prick, that helped John make his decision.

I am currently reading "DuncanIdaho2014" stories on the TSM universe. He is on fanfictionDOTnet website. He has quite a few stories about John and the girls. One such story, 'Lion's Legend', has had 4 or 5 chapters added in just the last couple of weeks. Very interesting take on our favorite "John". I love it. Keeps my addiction to TSM going even though Tef has slowed down a bit.

Interesting concept… Although I wonder if the thrall species were altered for their specific intention to such a degree that they are incapable of reverting to the Kyth’faren base model, while it seems Mael’nerak’s had the intention of hosing an experiment to see how they might evolve through mutation, to see if Terrans might eventually evolve into something similar to, or not surpassing the Kyth’faren. Not a mindless experiment at all for an immortal… It would also explain why he had Nexus monitoring them to make sure they/we didn’t go too far off the rails ab become as powerful as or worse than Progenitors…

Tef hasn’t explicitly said, but Terrans may have been designed to be as close as possible to the original unmodified race of people that became the progenitors and their thralls. He HAS said progenitors and thralls are genetically modified from whatever their base stock originally was.

This is why John could have male children. He could give them a guide that would help, instead of one that had to be contained. That doesn’t answer the original question. Let’s say, Thrall race “gray” (or violet, aqua, or whatever) is out there, and X told a progenitor to leave a son there.
