Hey everyone,

A single placeholder for this month, and I'm determined to make sure January starts 2026 off strong.

My new year's resolution is to aim for at least two chapters a month to catch up with the backlog.

Best wishes,

Tefler.

Yea yea yea

Same as December 2025 then eh oh and stop these placeholders now completely it’s nothing but theft we gave you the chance to be an aasuthorrr and this is how you thank us it’s not good it’s disgraceful.

Hendrix Morton

And like most New Year Resolutions, it will be broken before January is over....

Hendrix Morton

And here is from last January 1st.... "I will do better this year, and I'll try to set the right tone in January. " Yeah..Right...

JP

I resolve to go to the gym at least 2x/ month if I get 2 chapters a month. Guess I will still look like Sasquatch in 2027

Sol Tangoran

I'll give 2 months to see if he keeps his word. Here's food for thought for everyone. There are now 22 chapters with placeholders. He is making $4595 per chapter. Tefler has now collected $120,890 for chapters he has NOT delivered, and I think he's only going to get deeper and deeper in debt to us. At this point, as much I truly love his writing and this story, I feel like we've been robbed as a collective. I truly can't believe I'm having to say this, but unless I see a significant catch-up on chapters owed, I feel like this should be reported to Patreon and I will cancel my membership with him. In what world would any customer expect to pay in advance for something and be ok with NOT getting it in a timely manner?

Wozza

As per my post on the part chapter post, I'm giving him a month to see some progress, fulfilled promises.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… GIVE US … SOMETHING . . . Artworks, Polls, fanfic side stories . . . SOMETHING instead of these god forsaken insults you call excuses & placeholders. Your per-chapter patronage is down what, $2,000 this year? And yet you’re still pulling in enough to rescue your brand and family income. If you just put in the (team) effort, you could make this saga wildly successful. Instead, you’re killing it slowly keeping it to yourself… We all know you can do better. . . Sometimes that means asking for help. Be a leader in 2026, not a starving, suffering artist. The world will thank you.

Matt A Bellersen

No. Please put a hold on my account. I can't take this anymore. You already owe 20 months.

Matt A Bellersen

Already tried. They said nothing they can do. He controls the patreon account. You can ask him to pause your membership until he catches up or just cancel your patreon

Woodrobin

The person you're subscribed to doesn't put holds on your account. You can go in and change your subscription to the free tier or unsubscribe.

Bob M

Patreon *doesn't care*. They get a chunk of whatever he collects, so there's no incentive to be subscriber supportive. Your only recourse is to unsub. As always, I recommend *everyone* dropping their sub to $1 per chapter with a $1 monthly limit; the entertainment value here is worth at least $12/year.

Ryan Arends

Leave as many placeholders as you want. 50-100 I don't care. Maybe everyone will switch to $1 once a month only and he'll stop profiting from fools.

David Nelson

Maybe we should just all go to free setting for a month

Ryan Arends

I'll definitely pay for the half chapter I get. Eventually it'll reach a point where Patreon will shut it down. It's been reported multiple times.

Joe Waldvogel

What happened to a coupke chapters in a minth? Can't even finish 1 chapter in a minth. Think you're doing up a favor for inky one placeholder? Something yiu said you would stop doing long ago ,. But are worse than ever. Now we all have paid 20 months in advance. Not 2 placeholders for half a story. It'll end up the same 2 placeholders for one finished chapter in the end. This is just so wrong.

SP Rupert

I pay $1 a month just to see the comments and see how far this goes before the account holder is held responsible for the fraud that’s being committed.

Big Dude

It wouldn't have been a disaster if you pre-alerted us to your travails. Yet you continue to treat us like dirt on your shoes.

Terence2

It isn't really paying in advance since you pay for the placeholder, then you have to pay again when and if the chapter is ever released.

Montoya Van Buren

You need to be aiming for a chapter a week, not two chapters a month.

Jim Owens

lets hope you can find the proper motivation to live up to your ambitions. We would all love more than a taste of a chapter per month.

Balogun Gaa

😂😂😂😂 Typed this BS with a straight face too. See you on the 31st for another half chapter.

PMpiper

If I'm still alive, I'll join patreon again in about a year and a half to see if he's caught up with what he owes me yet. It's been real, and it's been good, but it hasn't been real good.

I'm about to give up on Tefler and as a result I posted this complaint with Patreon. Tefler continues To use placeholders every month At the most he adds a half a chapter A month . He is at placeholder 202. The last completed chapter was 178. I have been with Tefler since he started Three Square Meals. I have stayed with him over these years but now it's getting kind of ridiculous. The story is excellent, I don't know what his problem is. If he doesn't change his ways I will have to terminate my membership with Tefler. There are three other authors that I support and there are all very responsive to their readers.  By the way I am 95 years old and I doubt that I'll ever recover the money I contributed to Tefler. Thank you very much for reading this Robert W Hager  (January 2, 2026)

Lets be real, Tef is a stealing cunt that lies every month for over the past 2 odd years.

This is the same promise he made when he switched to Patreon. He didn't keep it then. He probably won't now. I will not hold my breath.

Ok, I am like many well annoyed about the increasing backlog of place holders. And I am contemplating canceling my subscription (If that is the correct word), to Telfer. On the other hand I am enjoying the story and want what I have paid for (in advance). I know too that this perpetual lateness does not change, I have run into similar problems myself with distance learning, and getting current is difficult at best, and impossible with a big back log. I suggest a middle ground. I understand that the income for this is important to keep things ticking over. I am not questioning that. But also we have paid for stuff that we will not get if we check out. So perhaps a better way forward is to move to a single monthly fee until such time as the backlog is cleared? That works in the interest of everybody. That is to say that we get to keep reading this, and Tefler does not loose income while getting current.

Gubment Cheez

I genuinely believe you cannot produce 2 chapters per month. You aren't even completing a chapter every 2 months; your last completed was in September! . Don't make offers you can't realistically match.. You're going to disillusion more of your fanbase.

B

I would rather get nothing than so little.

GreyManley

Does no one know Tefler's actual identity? If known, it shouldn't be difficult to find out if he's dead.

Michael56Smith

,hummm, ... Tef is a ghost writer, huh, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Tef's readers from early on remember when he would drop chapters at a much more rapid rate, ... however, he has been writing this series for the last 10 years, and the story has gotten increasingly more complex as the chapters go by, ... and then there are all his 'Tef Twists' as well, .... this story now is much harder to write, ... I think, .... -- A two chapters a month rate is a worthy goal, yet Tef may not be able to keep to this pace, ... I think that a chapter and a half per month may be more doable, ... for Tef to drop one chapter one month and two chapters the next month could be more possible for our Author to produce, ... ;-) ttfn

Jonathan Fowler

Looking bac at the last few completed chapters, there are several places in each where a break could be made. Instead of one long chater, there could be two or three shorter ones. It appears, not surprizingly, that Tef requires income each month. Even if he completes two long chapters each month, I foresee that there will still be a need for a p[aceholder, and the backlog will not reduce. If there are two or three shokrt chapters and a placeholder, the backlog will gradually be reduced. If Tef does the maths, it will be ckearer that the current path will not clear the backlog. I repsectfully urge him to consider shprter chapters until the backlog is cleared.

Jonathan Fowler

l have been looking at Tef's last five or six chapters. Each one has places where there could be a break dividing the chapter into two or three separate parts, or possibly more. It appears that Tef, not suprisingly, requires income each month. Even if he successfully churns out two complete chapters a month and adds a placeholder, it will take an age to get rid of the backlog. I respectfully urge Tef to consider breaking these long chapters into several shorter ones. He can still add a placeholder and reduce the backlog each month. Once the backlog is eliminated, he can return to writing one or more long chapters a month, and the readers will be delighted and the frustration will disappear. My limited perception is that this route forward would be aceptable to the vast majority of the readership. What doyou, the readers, think?

Jonathan Fowler

I have been looking again at the last five or six chaters. Each of them has natural breaks where the long chapter could be broken in to two, three or possibly more separate parts. It appears, unsurprisingly, that Tef needs income each month. His current pattern and frequency of deivering chapters is not working. Even if he delivers two chapters a month, he will still need a placemaker, and the backlog will take a very long time to disappear.

Jonathan Fowler

I have been looking at Tef's last five or six chapters. Each of them has several natural breaks where the chapter could be broken into separate, shorte, standalone chapters. Not surpisingly, Tef needs income, so I foresee a place holder each month until the backlog disappears. The current frequency and pattern of completed chapters is not working. Even if he successfully completes two chapters a month, he will still need a palceholder (perhaps I am wrong). It willtake a very longtome to reduce and eliminate the backlog. I respectfully urge Tef to seriously consider breaking future long chapters into a series of shorter ones. If he completes four or five short chapters a month, i.e. the equivalent of one and a half long chapters, and adds a placeholder, he will have income and will progressively reduce the backlog by three or four chapters a month. My limited perception is that the vast majority of the readers would accept this plan going forward. What do you, the readers, think? This s great story and it should move forward smoothly and provide gratification for Tef and his audience.

Big Dude

I have to respectfully disagree. He chose to create a multi-thread chapter narrative. He chose to hibernate and create placeholders. Changing to shorter chapters condones the 21+ placeholders. My 4 farthings.

Big Dude

We will see what happens on the 15th. If the balance of 179 and the beginning of 180 don't appear; then it was more wasted pixel service than promised delivery. I am pulling for his success. But, when nothing is mentioned until month's end... it is a sad reminder of what these last 24 months wrought upon us.

Michael56Smith

Hey BD, what's with the 15th, .... you know Tef drops on the EOM, .... but how much is going to be dropped then, .... it's anyone's guess, ... ;-) ttfn

Reading through the comments here I thought I'd say something positive to break it up. Ive been reading TSM for quite a few weeks now and have just now caught up to the completion mark of chapter 178. So, due to that, I've got no expectations for release timing. First, I'd like to say I've very thoroughly enjoyed reading Three Square Meals so far. I discovered it on Literotica first, so I'm always extremely thrilled to find a long form story there that is well worth reading for everything beyond the titillation. Tefler, your story may be perhaps the best I've read yet on that I discovered first on that site. As a hobbyist writer myself, I've wondered for quite some time about how to encorporate sex into my writing to where it feels like it's still worth including, especially when my goal isn't titillation. Sometimes it fits the world or the characters or the plot individually, etc, but but I've gotta say, I've read quite a few other long form stories that included plenty of sex where I ended up actually getting so invested in the actual plot and story that I started rushing through the sex scenes just to figure out what happens next. With TSM, I've not had that experience. The scenes all fit and flow nicely, they feel meaningful to the characters, they fit seamlessly into the plot, they are deeply intwined with the world building itself, there have been plenty of important revelations during those scenes too. I'm deeply invested in every aspect of the story as a whole, and that's an impressive quality. So kudos to you, good author. Second, I've spent altogether too much time reading TSM, so I'm actually kind of relieved to have caught up to the completion point. I've got other stuff I to read too that I've put off, lol. So really I'm not bothered by a slower release rate. Obviously, being fresh to it, I've got no expectations and so I'm not going to speak for those who have been supporting you for quite some time already. But I understand quality art takes quality time. I personally only support artists on Patreon I'm fine with supporting monthly (or perhaps less for some set ups) simply because of the art they produce. So, I personally will not be bothered if all I get is a completed chapter a month or even a completed chapter every two months, heck maybe even every three months. It's quality work so far and as long as that quality continues... I started supporting you because of that quality alongside the sheer amount you've produced of it. I don't want artists I support to feel beholden to a strict schedule just because I'm giving them money. I've chosen to support you for the sake of supporting you—I never expected it to be all that transactional. Of course things in my life can always change to where I need to pull back my support, or if an artist were to drop off the face of the planet with zero communication for months on end that was outside of the norm, I may have to pull funding until I see activity again, but I freely part with my paltry sum simply for the principle of supporting quality art. If I could afford to fully support an artist myself I would, haha! Anyway, my encouragement to you would be to honestly evaluate where you are at, communicate with your supporters clear expectations that you know are realistically achievable for yourself, and then communicate with your supporters regularly. If life slaps you around, most folks who want to support you for the sake of supporting will be understanding. I see it all the time with other artists and their followers. Most folks understand the smackdowns of life and are willing to give grace where it's needed. Of course, I'm sure if you were to adjust your pace to a slower model I'm sure you'll lose some support, and maybe that financial support is crucial for you. I get that if that's the case. But if you've got the financial flexibility, establishing an achievable pace I think will be the best plan for the long term and will build you a supporter group that will be very gracious indeed when expectations are clearly communicated and regularly met. (and occasional faster releases or occasional free months to counteract a longer chapter taking a bit longer than normal go a long way toward keeping supporters happy too). We like knowing our support is valued and noticed. When that's the case, we should stay very happy indeed. Lastly, don't pay too much attention to those demanding highly unrealistic timelines. Those who don't have a solid understanding of the process and expect too transactional a support structure are gonna have unrealistic expectations and there is nothing you can do about it if they refuse to listen (that being said, once again, communicating with us what your system is and what your own expectations for yourself will be and why you think those expectations are within reason is all we can reasonably ask for if they're met regularly and will then in turn prevent some of such unrealistic expectations from arising). Looking forward to continued reading, Tefler!

Jim Owens

I agree, this is probably the best story ive read from Literotica. It has alot of potential for future development if the Author was into it. Unfortunately it seems he has grown tired of writing and has seemingly given up. years past he would cover a fairly long stretch of time over the course of a year. The last year or so I dont think the story has moved forward more than a week or so. He constantly makes promises he hasnt been able to keep. Thats his biggest problem. He just needs to sit down and write non stop. Post a new chapter every week like most other authors and get on with it. Communication with his patrons is his biggest problem. He rarely if ever does so outside of end of the month releases. even if he just put up a post here and there in the chat and had any type of interaction it would greatly help his followers deal with his poor output.

Jim Owens

Its mid month and we havnt heard anything as usual. Well so much for keeping his promises.....again...... I look forward to the end of the month drop. Hopefully its not as poor as last months drop.

Big Dude

M56S asked below what's with the 15th? So, to answer without /snark/, think 🤔 about what Tefler said. Two chapters this month to begin backlog reduction (my phraseology). So 31/15 is what M56S? January 15th+-. Why did I say the 15th? Because it gives him 16 days to write the second chapter this month. But, alas, not even the cricket 🦗 sound 🔊appeared. If Tefler was my only Patreon subscription, I'd be in big trouble.

Michael56Smith

Hey BD, you know Tef hasn't dropped anything before the EOM for years, .... even if he would complete a chapter early in the month, he would likely hold on to it until the EOM like always, .... nothing about the middle of the month was ever hinted at by our Author, sorry, ... -- Please do not get disappointed / upset from your own assumptions, ... ;-) ttfn

Wozza

I have tried to understand, but most of us are now up to payment of 24 uncompleted chapters, and be patient, even at 2 a month, that would take 2 years to catch up, with one placeholder only each month, yet mostly are seeing a part chapter, making it at best 1 chapter every other month. There is being patient, there is being understanding, but it can only go so far. I've been reading it for years, and truly love the story, but it's starting to be not enough, some say it's not a lot of money, that's true, unless money's tight, and it would be ok, if it gave you entertainment, but not giving you a feeling like you're peeing money up a wall...

Quaffnot the Raven

I hear you. It definitely sounds like Tefler has worked themself into a hole that will be difficult to dig themselves out of no matter what approach they take. And like you accurately point out, by your calculation, even with a good pace it would take a while for Tefler to get caught up. I confess I don't know how well Patreon's payment system is set up, but maybe Tefler would be able to stop charging each patron according to how long they've been paying based on how many payments have seen nothing or very little in return. It'd probably be a hit to the pocket for Tefler, and since I have no clue what their personal finances and income are like, I have no clue how advisable or inadvisable that approach would be. But ideally, that may be the best way to rectifying the frustrations caused. Outside of rectifying frustrations, for Tefler to move forward, I've gathered that communication is their biggest weakness aside from inconsistent releases. I definitely would love to see Tefler be able to continue producing the story, but it sounds like they have to make a few major changes to how they handle patronage if they don't want to start losing droves of supporters and income.

Big Dude

You missed the point AGAIN. When he finished a chapter in the Old days he delivered in at month's end. His own words said what M56S? He would finish it by the end of the week. Read what he wrote in December 31, 2025. So now I ask, what does the word finish mean? When you say finish, that infers delivered too. So, he hasn't finished it. So ta ta for now has no meaning. It would be better if he told us I will deliver the balance and chapter 180 by month end.

Michael56Smith

BD, finished by End of the Week is not the same as immediately sending it out to his readers, ... sorry, ... ;-) ttfn

Big Dude

You can split hairs all you want, but Webster's English is still what it is.

Jim Owens

For anyone thinking that the current rate we are getting chapters is normal, check out Elara, ryn, or comedian0. These authors charge 5 to 10 bucks a month. But all regularly post multiple chapters a week, some such as ryn and elara put out multiple chapters per day. Not just 5 minute chapters either. That is what all these authors should strive to accomplish. To top it off, elara includes the audiobook for every chapter.

Stephen hallgath

Yep, I just don’t care anymore. I want to read the story and this is how it is now published.

Dont hold ur breath he posts placeholders that he forces you to pay for then he does partial chapters like parts 1 through 4 makes you pay for all of them and then he puts it out again as completed with extras and makes you pay for it again just about 90% of his followers have given up on him and until everybody does He's going to keep thieving frauding and screwing everybody over

Still 4 days in January left for @Tefler to publish the "at least two chapters" for this month. I bet it's still going to be half a chapter and many many excuses why he couldn't deliver more than that.

Jim Owens

yea that was pretty bad.

Jim Owens

ok almost time again. Does anyone anticipate getting anything more than the part 2 of the chapter? Hopefully its part 2 of 2 and not part 2 of 3.

… and don’t forget the 2 placeholders!

We can dream. Ill be happy with a compared 179. 180 would be awesome but his track record says that ain't happening.

Shower thought, that have been bubbling away (a itch you cannot scratch) for a month or two but coalesced over 5 minutes. 3 SQM is a knock off of Frefly, well not a knock off per say but I believed it was used as his muse. Copy, flattery, you know that quote. Anyho What tipped me off is that Dana was/is Kayleenb - red haired feisty ships engineer. That got me to thinking, Calara is Zoe (2IC) who is actually a blend of Calara and Alyssa (his moral compass) Sakara, obviously River Hell even River’s brother (Simon) the doctor is similar to Rachael, same colour hair, clinical in their assessments, super smart. Jade with out doubt is Inara, like durrr. With leaves the Reavers, Progenitors.

I'll check in january 2027: the placeholders will likely be somewhere in the 300s and we will have Chapter 190 done. I hope I'm wrong

No kiss ass, we want complete chapters each month, not partial and not have to pay for more chapters we are still owed. This is precisely why he gets far less money now then he made in the past and I guarantee it will go down even more. The fact our only interaction is the partial chapter drop the last night of the month and the inevitable, my something happened in my life that I need money to pay for, excuse why he has to charge in advance for more chapters he has not written is the reason no one believes or trusts him.
