Hey everyone,

I'll do my best to get caught up this month, so there won't be any more back-dated posts.

Apologies for the wait on the battles in 158, the recent chapters have been more time-consuming than I originally anticipated.

Regards,

Tefler

Richard Boardman

I am so far behind still only at 148. If I can scroll down to download it. Only $30 to go to catch up.

Not shocking anyone, we are precharged again for a chapter we aren't even getting a preview of. Well, I definitely feel like I made the right choice lowering my patronage level.

Str8NotNarrow

And im out of here.i have to respect myself even if Tefler doesnt

So ... 158 at the end of November?

Antoine Scrivener

157 much appreciated. It allowed me to postpone cutting the lawns for two further hours.

Sut

I was a little wrong, thought he would make some progress and only be 1.5 chapters behind at the end of October instead of 1.75 chapters behind from September. Now it's 2 full chapters behind. When he accidentally posted the empty chapter 158 to the 157 post, that was the real chapter 158. Not even started. Love your story Tefler, but you are not helping this downward spiral. If you do not fix your issues you will reach the point of collapse. If you need help with income and time to get caught up without charging us for a placeholder, why don't you just ask us. Just be honest with us. Make a post explaining your situation and say something like, "On November 30th I will be making a paid post with "X" as the content. I need extra time to get caught up on the story and am asking for help to do so." "X" could be a new commissioned art, updated Glossary, etc. Post this soon, give people time (weeks) to decide if they want to support this post without the story attached. It will take pressure off yourself and give you time to get caught up without losing more and more patrons. Do something like this and I will increase my limit to help out, as will a lot of others I believe. But be warned, if you do something like this and do not get caught up, you will lose way more Patrons then you have been.

Chester Orland

To all the howlers: this has always been about patronage. Do you think Pope Julius II bitched about how long it took to paint the Sistine Capel? Well, right! Of course he did! But he kept on paying Michelangelo’s room and board because who wants to cross Charleston Heston. Amirite? Cold. Dead. Hands. Not fucking with that. So, you can be Julius II and see the ceiling first or you can be a peasant and see it free someday. But quit pestering the artist because he isn’t painting fast enough.

159 Charge: I'll do my best to get caught up this month lol...Yeah Lets look at the past 5-6 months of promises... 158 Charge: I'll be able to catch up now that the prep work is done for the Galkiran fights (He Didnt) 157 Charge: I promise I will get everything all caught up this month. (He Didnt) 156 Charge: I should be finished with chapter 156 much faster than usual. (He Didnt) 155 Charge: I'll wrap this up as quickly as I can, then hopefully finish off 156 and 157 in August (He Didnt) 154 Charge: I'll post that this month and finish it off as quickly as possible over the next two weeks. (He Didnt)

raymond sisko

Well I for one will be patient. As somewhat of an artist myself( I do custom body and paint and restoration of classic and collector vehicles) I understand you cannot put a strict timeline on a work of Art. and Tefler is a masterful and gifted storyteller. That is his gift. He is an artist, and sometimes it flows and sometimes it doesnt. Been there,. done that. I have faith in Tefler. The Siskokid

Vizth Hal

I'll repeat what I do every month don't like it unsubscribe spare all of us your negativity

Timothy Lucas

Lol nobody said you have to read the well earned complaints. Vizthhal

Aaron Yuro-Smith

I think he made a mistake doing it in a chapter format. He should just charge monthly cuz all the whiny bitches on here freakin out. Is he behind on releases yes? So what it'll come out when it comes out.

Peter van Velzen

Creativity is unpredictalbe, I get it. The broken promises are the issue. The pre-charging is the issue. The lack of professionalism is an issue. The story is great, but stop excusing the guy's broken promises. That's just pathetic.

Aaron Yuro-Smith

I am not excusing his excuses. I don't even disagree that it is unprofessional. I am just saying that if he was just on monthly charging schedule, which seems to be what he is doing anyway, there wouldn't be a bunch of people whining like little girls with skinned knees.

Emma B

Where is the pre-charged 158?? I see a precharge for 159 now.

Dashinhi

One group is frustrated at what is perceived as yet another in a string of unkept commitments, and the other group (bless their hearts) makes excuses and slings insults at those expressing frustration. Stay classy, you purple folk.

OechsneC

Well these chapters are a lot longer, then what he used to do at the very beginning. So it’s kinda like two chapters in one chapter sometimes even three. He could just go with shorter chapters again to make everyone feel better. Though he’s trying to make big chapters, and their is a lot of thought that has to be done into each chapter. Plus I know all authors suffer from writers block. If your not a author then it’s when you are at a loss as to how you want the chapter to play out. Sometimes your stuck for a while. Plus I would rather get a well made chapter then something thrown together half assed. It might take longer to come out, and he wants to please everyone. Though it’s hard to please everyone without making quality of his work subpar from what he normally does.

Duncan Gafney

Whilst I fully appreciate why you are doing what you are, this is a very bad habit you are getting yourself into and given how complex the story is getting, you are making it incredibly difficult for yourself to catch up..

Vizth Hal

While I do understand people's annoyance at him being most of 2 chapters behind, I still feel the need to point out he is still massively out pacing r.r.martin. 🤣

Nick

As long as I get my tsm fix every other month I'm happy. Would I hire Tefler as an employee in my company? No. Will I continue to enjoy his writing? Definitely! Some critisism might be in order, but I choose to not get too riled up about it.

Newnotsure

Where is 158, 157 was done he said last month. I hate to say this but the drama from the pre charging the lack of story is starting to get to me it is killing the full story for me it looks like I will only come back when I notified of a story drop I hope Tefler catches up this month. Other things to do I life then wait for a part chapter and only get a part of a part chapter, this should piss off the pro Teflers out there but sorry, I know I can not write a story but wow Tefler take some time off get it all together and come back stronger. Okay bash me now guys I have big shoulders. Bye for now see you guys next month for part of a part chapter, or maybe not it is only a story right .

Teocynn

Good lord. I never expected Tefler to actually get 157 & 158 out in October. I figured he might publish all of 157, maybe half of 158, and precharge for 159. But he managed to fall below even that low bar. Tefler, do you not even have a shred of professional pride left within yourself?

Earl The Biker

You know something, I’m a bit p****d off with all the complainers on here! You get precharged for power every month, vast amounts of money, but does everyone complain about it? No, of course not! But if you get precharged here £1 ($1 for our US or Canadian or of course Oz or Kiwi cousins) there’s hell to pay, just shut the f**k up, or get out of Dodge!!!

Earl The Biker

You probably pay via credit card, so you don’t pay it for 6 weeks anyway! FFS! Grow up! Just imagine waiting 7 years for the next instalment of a story, like lovers of Diana Gabaldon’s books (Outlander) It’s frustrating, but shit happens!

eclipse

I know the chapters are late which is a bit "meh"... but I can at least amuse myself reading the comments here...

Jim lynch

Free speech anyone ? Or is it just shout down anyone who doesn’t think like you do ?. Everyone has their right to Moab or not to moan don’t like it don’t read the bloody comments.

vontzki

Tefler, you're breaking your fanbase and using up all goodwill that there was. This directly hurts your income, because of people leaving and lowering their pledges. And while the story is really good, you're preventing yourself from accumulating new fans.

IanBio

I dropped out as a patron, rejoining mid month to see if the promised chapters have arrived then leaving again before I am billed. I will continue doing this until Tefler has caught up with his promises. Looking at Patreon stats, it is clear that many people are now doing this. Tefler, you are killing yourself.

KingDumple

So 158 was a blank page, meaning you wrote less than one chapter this month and we're billed two full chapters ahead. I'm out, cutting my losses. I'll keep tabs and rejoin if you catch up, tired of the empty promises to catch up while you fall further behind and do the bare minimum of work each month.

Scout13

To be honest I really only show up every couple of months now to download the latest chapter or occasionally two. While I love the story the comment section is rapidly becoming more entertaining.

ClarasBestFriend

Okay so honestly, it's like $2 pre-charged... I just can't find it within myself to complain. When the chapters are published, they're incredible! And Tef seems to be *trying* to catch up, right? I think keeping the same writing pace was impractical with how involved the plot has become, so I'm fine with whatever rate so long as it comes along in due time.

Brian

I would like to apologise to everyone for my poor prediction last month. The excuses and the pre-charge were there but the half done chapter was absent! For this I am truly sorry!

Brian

Only 29 days away from a half done/slapped together chapter, excuses why things went wrong and another placeholder to "Spread out the payments".

Hayden D. Linder: Fiction

TO: Brian & Teocynn, Guy's, neither of you are even paying the man. Why are you so upset? I pay him $2 a post and that's still nothing to me. I've tried writing serials and I suck at it! But it helped me appreciate the time and strain that goes into doing What Tefler is doing. If he needs more time the I'm OK with that. Why aren't you?

randy thompson

great work ill just say you cant rush great work or you will get crap, tefler knows how to write.

Thomas Phillips

LMFAO. How many months are you gonna give the same bullshit line about getting caught up that month? How can a sci-fi author have such shit creativity when coming up with lies?

Thomas Phillips

Also, why do I feel like I'm in calculus class again at the end of every month when I come here and try to figure out where I left off reading? We got half chapters, we got seven posts for one chapter, we're bills two chapters ahead, it's impossible. You've made a real mess of things.

Nacho Nutts

Normally, not annoyed by being charged a month in advance. Unless it debits it from my account that I only use for subscriptions....that is now overdrawn thanks to Tefler. Sub canceled, not that my money means anything to him.

Sceptre

Nacho Nutts, sorry to lose your attendance here in chat. I understand your frustration at being billed before you get the chapter but it's been a pretty consistent thing for a while now. It's alarming to think that the single billing event last night caused your account to be overdrawn. If you'd like, I can help out. Send me, through private chat, your mailing address. I'll be happy to send you the money to get you back in the positive. Not sure what to recommend to help you avoid this in the future except to say, Tefler usually bills at least one time in the month so perhaps keep at least 5.00 USD+/- in the account in the event of the unexpected. It occurs to me you'll likely never see this as you've probably already left for good. Take care friend.

Craig Fuller

Billing for Ch. 158 and then not fulfilling the promise to deliver falls under 'services not rendered' if I'm not mistaken. There could be legal ramifications if nothing gets uploaded very quickly. Dude, just don't make the promise in the first place.

Walter Davis

Not stressing this at all…I think of this like I do my lottery tickets. It is cheap entertainment. $2 isn’t going to break me, I understand the frustration but I didn’t join the this until over 100 chapters in…I am good.

AzureReader

I’m glad to see Tefler is only charging for one chapter a month instead of two… because he can’t write two chapter reliably. But now that he’s down to charging for 1 chapter a month he’s writing half a chapter. Because the chapters are harder than anticipated. It’s not even slightly a criticism… it’s human nature to assume things are going to be easier than they are. But them being harder than expected is the rule. There is no way to fully know the difficulty of territory you’ve never been through. Writers constantly face this problem because every chapter is new territory with unforeseen problems. Apply the energy you think is needed for a chapter a week and you might deliver half that. That’s the only way to deliver 2 chapters this month.

Sceptre

Well said AzureReader. It appears you thought through your assertion there and injected common sense and reason to help people understand what's likely happening to cause the level of production that we've grown accustomed to with the story of late. The problem is your audience. By this point, the supportive readers came, downloaded the story, went be back to work and will return later to check for updates without leaving flaming posts. All that's left here are the ravenous addicts Jones'ing for another hit. I just say that so you don't take what they will inevitably respond with to heart.

Sceptre

Deity $25/month I don't actually expect people to pledge this amount, but this tier was requested by a very generous Patron! Includes Early access to each chapter Join the patron community Patron-only content Commissioned artwork of characters from the story

Sceptre

Doesn't say anything about when the chapter will drop just that we'll have early access. There is a post with the heading Chapter 159 and I've now purchased access to that when it drops. Seems straight forward to me and I know I'll receive that chapter when it's available.

Sceptre

I suppose one could argue that by posting under this placeholder for chapter 159, that you're in fact validating this post as legitimate by taking advantage of said ability to post. Only patrons have access to this and by utilizing the sites utilities we're collectively giving credence to chapter 159 though it only exists as suppositions and possibilities at this point. To use the platform of the placeholder for chapter 159 to post thoughts declaring this post invalid is an oxymoron.

Cornbread

Now, back to the story: In chapter 133, an opportunity was missed when Dana was not taken to the Astral Plane. When Tashana brought up the photos of the ships, it could have been a time for designs to appear. Just an idea I noticed

TF007

So it appears from 157 that the next big upgrade will be to the Nova lances. I wonder how Tefler is going to design and improve upon them?🤔

dakota downey

Finally dropped my patreon down its annoying to pretty much be paying 2-3 months in advance for the work you have done and listening to excuse after excuse hate to say this but you need to either catch up or stop charging for work you haven't done yet

Nonconformist

When Tefler posted 157 last night he stated I was not charged for the chapter but Patreon charged me today. So does that mean Tefler is charging now per month and not admitting it or what. At least until recently he would tell us he was pre-charging for work he had not done. So Tefler what is going on???

Big Orca

It’s 11:01pm in England. I guess partially edited 158 is not going to happen in the “morning”.

Servo1969

Tefler, I love your work. I found your work on Literotica sometime around chapter 20. I enjoyed the story so much I finally decided I wanted to help ensure it kept going. You were the first person on Patreon I ever subscribed to. In fact, I originally created my account just so I could. I can understand other patrons' frustration. But I figure I'll just pay my $5 a month and whatever you put out is what you put out. I really do understand if people disagree. But I'm here for the long haul. Can't wait to see the upcoming battle!

Steven Allen

I too found Tefler's work on Literotica first around chapter 40ish or so. When I learned of Patreon yours was the first I ever subscribed to. I am here for the long haul as well. I wonder though if Tefler is getting burnt out? I've attended author discussions with authors such as David Weber, Laurel K Hamilton, Nora Roberts, Lee Child, etc. and all spoke about burnout and writer's block. I wonder if Tefler might be burnt out or tired of the story all together.

AzureReader

I’m long haul also. I’m 100% supportive of Tef and understand that the roof leaks and burnout happens. Like others here I’m with Tef all the way. I wouldn’t have guessed it was humanly possible to write 157 chapters of anything and maintain motivation and interest. Go Tef!

Sut

Updated breakdown of Tefler's writing of TSM by month. Added the chapters before Patreon and updated for October. **Rough** numbers of when every chapter was posted, words per month, etc. A lot of the older chapters were updated on the same post instead of a new post for the completed chapter. If a line has two dates listed that is when the chapter was first posted and when it was updated to the final version. That means it was a preview chapter that was finished later and/or that the final version fixes typos. In these cases the full chapter is credited to the month of the first post because I don't have access to the un-updated posts and the original files. Used Lit built in wordcount and wordcount .com for chapter sizes. Take this however you want, wanted to see how Tefler's writing has changed over the years as he has become more successful. Lines that start with * are ones that were Paid for by Patrons. $ amounts are estimates and do not include Patreon/Paypal cuts and Patrons limiting paid posts per month.

R.J. Ford

I started reading at the beginning and have been a patron from very early. My concerns began some time ago. I enjoyed the chapters, but really liked getting the complete books from Amazon (the first four or five came out perfectly). At some point though, despite the requests the publishing stopped and I realized I was reading the books about 5 chapters of what would be a book per month and spending about $20 each novel (based on 20K words per monthly entry and a decent sized novel @125k words). Spending $20 per, while making it a real pain in the a$$ to re-read because it’s all in word doc form is killing it for me. I dropped some time ago, and will be more than happy to support when the books are available. Until then it’s just too expensive and too hard to read conveniently…no matter how good it is…. And I freely admit it’s excellent.

Sceptre

Pasting this out here for other opinions Thomas Phillips said: So you see his lying as a good thing? JFC. He is getting paid full time to write, and he is doing less and less of it all the time. He tested the waters with a sob story about his roof having his patreons essentially loan him money, and as soon as people didn't revolt he has done it almost every single month since. He knows he gets paid whether he writes or not, so his lack of motivation clearly stems from that. He was supposed to quit his job so he could write more, and we are getting less than ever. The only thing that will motivate him to write more will be when his patreons leave in droves and he has to abuse the absolute shit out of his remaining patreons to keep up the cash flow, and even more leave. Sceptre replied: Why are you so concerned with knowing the details of his life? No, lying isn't ever a good thing but that's not what you initially asked. I mean unless your wife asks "do these jeans make my butt look big?" and you're like (mmm yes!) but you say "No, it looks perfect baby!" just because you don't want that fight. But you asked in statement form, "and some people are somehow fine with that?" To which I said yes. But what you see as "lying to his patrons for months now", I tried to explain is being used as a motivational tool he employs and the creation of a plan that wasn't realized. We all have different experiences in this thing called life and it's rare that you stumble upon anything of quality. A fine painting, a well done movie, a musical masterpiece, a good read and so on. But when you find what you consider to be something of quality, you want to help it along while you enjoy it. Extend a little understanding and grace and when problems arise and try to offer helpful suggestions without becoming a nagging bitter harpy. Because what good will come from that? Literally nothing good will come from that. I think it's safe to say this story and its wonderful cast have likely become children to Tefler in a sense. Not perhaps as near and dear as his flesh and blood but since he gave birth to these characters and has likely poured 1000's if not 10's of thousands of hours into thinking about them to bring this story to life, I'd wager he feels a certain duty to them as well. To represent each character well and stay true to the vision when pouring himself out to bring them to life. That takes time. Lots and lots of it. He's done it exceptionally well and I suppose as with any venture that becomes successful, a businessman eventually enters the picture. Hard deadlines, cold apathy toward creativity, and a stringent stickler to the "rules". His interest in the product is purely selfish. What can it do for me? What can I invest in it so I'm entitled to make demands? He's not concerned with anything but was the i dotted and the t crossed. I don't imagine much of what I'm saying will be understood except by the other like minded in this community but they are usually the silent people in the background. We've been able to watch this incredible, and I mean incredible story come to life by a highly skilled and talented author who's labored over this work for the better part of a decade. And he's encountered perhaps a weakness in his makeup with how this has been handled and has tried to stay true to his audience while also representing the story well. But plans sometimes go awry. Good intentions never realized and so on. I sent Tefler a private message suggesting he take what ever he's written of chapter 158 and break it into 3 parts. If that works out to be 2k - 8k words a part, then so be it. Then post that as chapter 158, 159, and 160. That would surely make the box tickers happy as we'd be all caught up with billing. Right? We'd all be happy with that surely. Never mind how he'd have to betray his own standards to do that. I mean, what actually constitutes a chapter any way? If he wrote a full paragraph, technically, he's fulfilled his obligation as far as Patreon is concerned. But we leverage what we want against what he's done in the past to come up with what we demand in the future. If we're not careful, this labor of love is going to turn into a nightmare and be abandoned. But some beautiful things are never completed and fully realized in this life because, as the great philosopher Batman once said, "some men just want to watch the world burn".

Keepit simple

See you all back for next chapter on 11/30...really enjoy story but history shows no sense being back until then. Wish for more and would have like to get 158 in October...but not to be. Suggest BurntRedstone Ben Shepherd stories on Lit if you haven't read them yet.

Sut

Possible solutions to Tefler's declining patron support? Post your own if you have an idea as well. A couple of mine: 1. Tefler asks us for support and more time. Makes a 1-time paid post for content other then TSM: commissioned art, updated glossary, etc. More details of this idea are in my post near the beginning of the 159 placeholder comments. 2. Tefler takes a break from writing TSM for 1, 2, 6 months and writes something else. Posting the other story here as paid posts. This could be the beginning of something that exceeds TSM's success and give Tefler's creative mind a break from needing to write TSM to pay the bills. For 1, I would up my support for the 1-time post to support Tefler then adjust my level of support based on his actions going forward. If the extra time to write and get ahead does not work out and he rapidly falls back into the placeholder chapters, he would lose a lot more patrons then currently. I think the 2nd idea would be best for Tefler and TSM. Sometimes it's best to change your focus to recharge your brain. I would continue my support for Tefler during the other story and hope that he got back to writing TSM to completion at some point.

Michael Johnson

I joined Paetron to support the writer of a story that I found fascinating. Since then I've added five more authors. Each is quite different in how they work. Have any missed a promise date? You betcha they have. So what? Personally, I don't regret one cent that I've spent on any of them. It's a good feeling to know that I can help aspiring writers a little bit. Everyone to their own, but I am not surprised that things are not always going smoothly for Tef. This is an immensely complicated tale and undoubtedly Tefler has underestimated the time sink involved in assuring continuity to go along with keeping the story line interesting. Would I like more consistency in posting? Absolutely, but that's because I want to read the story not second-guess my commitment. I'm here and staying.

Newnotsure

He may be right 2030 could be correct

Emma B

I guess that promise of tefler’s to post 158 by the next day is also down the drain. We won’t see it till 30 Nov 22, when we will be precharged for 160 or maybe if we continue to be quiet maybe we will be charged for 161 also.

Thomas Johnson

I have already been charged for #158 and nothing to read. This getting real old real fast.

Stoutsword

let's hit f5 for a few more hours and try to keep hope alive

Lord Stile

I'm more just disappointed than anything else. I saw this pattern coming the first time we were "pre-charged" for a chapter, and it's been a bit of a running commentary / issue ever since. I greatly enjoy the story, and have been following it since the very early days on Lit, and am more than happy to pay for it. I was paying a higher amount prior to a few months ago, but decided to drop it in light of the pre-charges again. Once everything is caught up and stays that way for a couple of months, I'll re-up my pledge again. I think it's doubly unfortunate that this billing practice has all but taken over the comments section. There used to be a lot of good banter in here regarding the story line and what we thought (would like?) to see moving forward. That seems to have ceased in favor of those complaining and those defending. My stance on this is simple. The "business arrangement" (for lack of a better term) that I entered into was to pay $X.00 per chapter as they came out. Period. No comments about advances, previews, partial chapters, or any of that nonsense. You cut a chapter, you get paid. Simple, right? We all know life isn't simple, and as an individual and person I feel for our author and the circumstances that must be pressuring for this to happen. I'm also fairly sure this pressure isn't helping the writing either , but I could be wrong. The point is, it's NOT ABOUT THE MONEY, it's about the PROMISE. The deal, the arrangement, whatever you want to call it. Yes, it upsets some more than others. I'm one of those standing by and "watching it burn" so to speak, but I honestly do hope it doesn't burn down. I really ENJOY the story, which is why I continue to pay for it, in spite of the broken promises. So all I can say is please, please get back on track so I can 1) up the payment back to what it was, I really would like to support you at the previous level, and 2) enjoy the story, and the banter about the story, without the whole thing being overshadowed by payment issues. Best of luck.

Tefler recently said at the beginning of the month that would "upload the battle from 158 tomorrow once he's given it an editing pass" tomorrow came and went, and now it's the day after, and still no battle from 158. This is just the latest in long string of broken promises from Tefler. I can't speak for anyone else, but until Tefler has shown he is caught up consistently on chapters and that he can keep his promises, i won't be supporting him anymore.

2ndAndrocentric

I was wondering if anyone had noticed that Tefler has charged for a chapter not yet delivered.

DevilDoc82

All I'll add, is Tef is better at putting out content that George R. R. Martin is with "A song of Ice and Fire". Books dropped in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2005, 2011... and still waiting on book 6 11 years later.

Evan Van Dyke

Patreon has as option for a monthly payment - if Tefler needs/wants to charge monthly no matter what, I think he should change to that payment model. It's a valid option, and there is nothing whatsoever wrong with it. I have a problem with the "pay by the chapter" pricing model, and posting placeholders to charge us in advance. If we don't catch up quickly, I'm just going to unsubscribe.

Michael56Smith

.234: We all have opined Tef's lack of communication, ... however it becomes understandable in light of the 'complainers', he just cannot trust that anything shared will not be used against him, so, ... better not to speak up, ... Why is there a placeholder for chapter 159 when he hasn’t written 158?

Anthony Kester

Dear Tefler You are never going to make everyone happy. Sorry, but it is the truth. Ignore the haters. Look into gaining the attitude I have when someone thinks they are going to hurt my feelings (not that I have any of those anymore). "I have been called worse, by better." Don't let those people keep you from engaging your fans and readers. Learn to laugh at their stupidity and immaturity. Please don't hide from some of your biggest supporters. Sincerely, Kester

WVNCRich

Hi folks, Since Tefler dropped the full Ch 157, I downloaded it; brought it into WordPerfect, and appended it to 'my' TSM Book 5. Then I started reading from Ch 143 through 157. That is 376,155 words. Just a little under the size of Gone With the Wind (418k). In exactly one year. That is pretty good output for anybody. I purposely read this straight through to get a feel for the story. I had not previously read from Ch 152 on. I find that the story continuity is excellent, the quality of writing is just as good as it has ever been, maybe better. Did find 3 typos. ( bare → bear; to → too; pack → pat) When I look at all the story arcs he has going, and moving them all along, it is amazing. And he is still dropping in hints of new arcs (the evil presence that Helene detected on the way to meet Ceraden is one). This is a hugely complex universe that Tefler has created, and I'm sure a large part of his time is making sure all the pieces move forward together. I am pleased that he has invited me to follow along. By my count, 4,091,776 words. And Faye...

"And Faye..." Well said that. A great post overall. I've seen some of the comments folks have posted which, to me, are discouraging and disparaging. I hope your accurate summation of Tefler's work thus far will help quiet the Negative Nancies and Debbie Downers. I encourage you to keep up the great work Mr. Tefler, and it is a great work indeed. Cheers mate.

Anthony Kester

Dear Diary, Tefler still hasn't talked to us. I'm thinking he either is ignoring us, has family stuff or is writing furiously to get caught up. The crazies are starting to bounce off the walls and secretly destroying not only the F5 keys, but entire keyboards again. Michael has resorted to reading other smut to get his fix. TF007 is MIA and is presumed in the fetal position mumbling something about Faye. I hope the Grand Writing Overlord communicates with us soon, so the looney bin doesn't go over capacity. Then there is the impending return of Faye and her assumed induction into the Lionesses club by John pumping her so full of cum her belly button pops out. But, that's an entry for another day. Kester

In other news, O-H-I-O WINS!!! O-H-I-O WINS!!! My Browns have a bye week, so that means the bye week is giving 6.5 points tomorrow. Now back to our regularly scheduled discussion about 3SM.

jdg45

To keep the faith I believe Tefler should release 158 in the next week or so.

AzureReader

All things being equal Tef will release 158 about 3 hours before the end of the month and then try to release at least a bit of 159 and charge for 160 before the end. Working like this is my version of hell. If I had to get 2 chapters out I’d set a goal to release 158 by the 15th and incentivize the objective. Get nice bottle of scotch if complete by the 15th. No food except coffee after the 15th until 158 is complete.

Anthony Kester

I swear every time I start a marathon of F5 presses, the Jeopardy theme song starts playing.

Tom Ray

you have a place holder for 159!!! where is 158?????

Brian

Only 23 days away from a half done/slapped together chapter, excuses why things went wrong and another placeholder to "Spread out the payments".

Anthony Kester

F5... F5... ♾️F5🤣 Please Tefler, release 158. 😭

Anthony Kester

So, if any of us won the Powerball Lottery last night, are you going to make Tefler an offer he can't refuse? Minus the horse head in the bed, of course.

SP Rupert

If I scored $1.9B I’d give all my favorite authors $1M for each book completed or that is completed in the next 365 days.

2ndAndrocentric

I noticed that it was 6 months between the last 2 postings on Literotica.

Winning ticket was sold in California. Any readers in CA?

Big Orca

When was the last time we got a completed chapter NOT at the end of the month?

stephen mincher

Just a thought, how far are we at with TSM, 60%,70%. Heading for 6million words maybe.

Malcolm Rickarby

Our last real scene with Faye was when she passed on to her ,at the time, unnamed daughter the files she had accumulated on love 💕. Since then her boys, the cleaning robots have saved the Invictus held a moving memorial for her and built the Invictus collective. Daphne has emerged as an AI in her own right and the bots have grown exponentially in both character and ability . Now that we can anticipate the reawakening of Faye in a unique in the entire history of the universe manner, and at a crucial time in the story, the mind boggles at the complex future that Tefler has to deal with. To get to this point after so much brilliant writing has already been a masterpiece and I feel that he will not let us down in any way as he navigates these next few chapters. So I plead with you for patience and enjoy the suspense.🧚🏾‍♀️

I see Tefler still has about 4555 patreon’s

MR Robeson

I agree 💯.... need to respond and resolve the issue. People love the book and enjoy supporting you in this endeavor... but remember you are responsible for your commitments and to your sponsors... a little light goes a long way.... Silence is not the key.. Hopefully you read theses and understand our points of view.

The Professor

I agree.... under promise and over deliver. That process creates happy customers. If it will take 6-8 weeks to write it so be it. Most of us are paying $1-3 per release, so it is not the money from our side. You are setting expectations apparently beyond what you can deliver and disappointing the fans and probably yourself in the process. Re-calibrate, publish smaller good segments if necessary. You have a good thing going that many are enjoying.

Parzival

Think I’m done. Progression is so slow as you feel it necessary to do every meal every shower every debrief every new hole every orgy over and over and over and over. Loved the story but I’ve lost respect for you and subsequently find it more and more irritating. Was just gonna leave quietly but I figure you should at least know, not that you’ll care

Michael56Smith

.339: I think it is sad that some readers will talk themselves into ending their Patreon support for a very creative writer, ... and despite his performance/output being less than they might want, ... Tef has given us one or more chapters every month for quite some time, ... this epic story is progressing, and I intend to continue his support indefinitely, .... ;-) TTFN

rich ed

I will continue to be a patreon as I love this story and to get the story early you need to be a patreon, or you can wait for the free version. I choose earlier. Do I care if it turns up once a month or once a year? No. And if he is scamming us with the pre charge go Telfer, thats what Rachel/Calara would have recommended. Faye probably would have advised against it

Steven

I'm also enjoying the story more than anything else I've found. There's enough story lines and branches to literally keep it going for years. As for patience, I've heard its a virtue. As for the pace of output fast and good is optimal but if I have to choose I prefer good over fast.

Marcus Riccitti

Place holder for 159 when 158 isn't done yet? Plus the chapters keep getting shorter..

SP Rupert

I’m disappointed I don’t have any weekend American College or Professional Football news this weekend in these comments. How will I ever know if the Ohio based teams won or lost this weekend? Oh well. I guess I’ll just continue to enjoy Tefler’s e-books and check out my other favorite literatica author’s recent posts.

Brian

Why f5 before the last day of the month? You guys sure are optimistic

Johnkr

I’m sticking with it but I am actually reading a lot more of my books and less online. I started out really getting into stories on literotica and then checked patreon to see if the author was still writing so I could support and get caught up, but too many were never completed. Plus my actual books are sequestering carbon.

John Gregory

Still charging 2 Chapters ahead, which equats to 2 months ahead.

SpamSpamBacon&Spam

Ok this is unacceptable and I can't support it. I was reading this back from chapter 3 or 4 on literotica. I dropped out around chapter 130 because it was just too repetitive with the same conversations and character arcs over and over, feeling like barely anything happened in each chapter. I loved the world and the plot, it just seemed like it wasn't moving forward. I got curious and came back and actually the plot's moving forward and is looking interesting at last. Hooray! But I can't support this. This is bullshit and a horrible way to treat fans and paying customers

2ndAndrocentric

Bad idea to kill Gahl. It would send the information back to Xar which would make the next progenitor attack sooner and with more information. Better to offer him and his thralls exile in a Gaia class planet with no transportation off it; monitored from orbit. No need to even face him, just keep crippling his fleet's mobility and then get Terrans, Trankarans or even Ashana who won't react violently to another claimed thrall race to offer them transport. Gahl could set up seaside and go fishing.

articulus48

I was hoping to see chapter 158 mid month and then 159 at the end of the month and a place holder for 160 no such luck so I guess we are going to run two chapters behind from now on. When we get three chapters behind Tef should switch to an other payment schedule like just bill people monthly with no expectations of any sort!

Robster

To me it seems he is very slowly but very surely ..abandonning the story .He is out of his muse to long now,to really be able to continue the story.. guess it stops this 31-12-2022..

Dear Tefler, The inmates have taken over the asylum. Michael has opened a bar in the Doctors lounge. His toilet hooch is very popular. TF007 is leading a self help and 12 step program for 3SM addicts so they don't spend all their time in the fetal position. They are so popular that TF007 has added more sessions. The Admiral has been seen busting down doors while yelling "RAMMING SPEED". Tefler, the only way the authorities can regain control and get the clearly insane leaders back to their cells, is more 3SM material. Please do what you can to assist. Kester

Brian

Only 9 days away from a half done/slapped together chapter, excuses why things went wrong and another placeholder to "Spread out the payments".

Mike Saxion

A good author is capable of writing 2000 to 5000 words a day, which includes editing. Based on this we get a picture of how productive Tefler really is. We are seriously being shortchanged.

Newnotsure

Well Tefler is now $20,000.00 ahead give or take a bit

Dean Lee

On the bright side 2 chapters for Xmas 🤞🏽!!!!

Hendrix Morton

What my current guess is: At the end of November I expect 158 and a charge for 160 and 161 because of the upcoming Christmas Holiday and the need for extra cash. Then at the end of December a partial 159 release (because of the Holiday, not enough time to finish a full 159), and a charge for 162.... So at the end of the year, we are 3.5 chapters down... Please Tefler, prove me wrong...

Hi there, I'm sure you have gotten uncountable messages regarding your writing and release of chapters VS you precharging for them. If you even read this I want to say I'm sorry for withdrawing my support at the end of this month but I feel I've been given no good choice here. I would stay and continue to support you if we just had honest dialog and expections from you about your work. Life happens we all can understand that its the lies or over optimistic promises from you that has caused you to lose my support. I really wish you and your family the best and i will truely miss the great story you started here. Another disheartened fan

Ralf

Every month I think, this will be the month tef proves the naysayers wrong… and every month he doesn’t

Nick White

I love teffs work but this type of thing will cause patreon to make a refund policy and ban pre charging once in a while is cool but every month ?

Michael56Smith

.455: I love the 3SM story and Tef has dropped us over 4 million 3SM words (so far) and even with his current difficulties (over a year), he is still giving his rabid fans about (on average) a chapter to chapter and a half each month (20K words to 30K words). so, even if he slows down some more, as long as the further adventures of the Invictus are progressing, I will continue to support our Author! We all want more 3SM, however whining and complaining, grousing and grumbling is not the best approach. Just my opinion, ;-) TTFN

Sut

Even the mighty fall. If Tefler continues down this path he will lose so many patrons that writing TSM will not be enough income to maintain his families needs. To my knowledge Tefler has not once communicated with us about the issues being raised about his precharging. The only exception would be his end of the month posts with empty apologies, then shortly later precharges again. I encourage all of you, his patrons, to decide for yourselves if you want to continue to support someone that has made empty apologies and broken promises month after month with no communication with us except for the end of the month posts that continue the cycle downward. My cutoff is the end of the year. If Tefler is not fully caught up with what we have already paid for and no new precharge posts, then I will not support him any longer. @Tefler - Your Patreon is on fire. Your complete lack of communication with the group that financially supports you and your family, about our concerns of your business practices this last year, will be your downfall. You are losing your supporters rapidly and you seem to not care in the slightest. Most of us are reasonable people and can help you put the fire out if you communicate. I've been reading your story since early 2016 and it's one of the best I have read, even bought the paperbacks. I would like to see it through to the end and into what comes after, but I will not allow myself to be taken advantage of and disrespected.

Mike Saxion

I found a Patreon author that produces a book a week. This guy is seriously an author. Tefler is a wannabe.

Doug Hendrickson

The posting frequency doesn't bother me. The paying in advance is a really bad look, and it looks like it's going to continue for the foreseeable future, which doesn't thrill me. The lack of engagement though? When you're behind, engaging with your audience can go a long, long way towards smoothing ruffled feathers. But we won't hear from him for a few more days, get a half-baked chapter, and a pre-bill for more, and that's it. It's obnoxious, and if something doesn't change in December, add me to the voices of those who are leaving. Sadly, I see no reason to assume it's going to change.

Steven

I’m told that TSM is at 4 million words and there’s easily 2 - 4 million more words at a minimum in the TSM multiverse. Just for a reality check, if it weren’t for the graphic adult subject matter, which is integral to the storyline, this story could be widely commercially publishable due to its professional caliber and ever expanding storyline potential. And, for example, Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” series is reported to be 4.4 million words long. It took 23 years to publish the entire series completely, and it had to be finished posthumously by Brandon Sanderson. I purchased each installment as soon as they hit the market which means at full retail hardcover price. Usually waiting YEARS for the next installment. I am grateful for the fact that I am only paying single digits for access to each chapter in the TSM series, and not having to wait years for my next “fix”. I try to keep a balanced outlook of stuff. It’s true that Tefler’s not helping himself by not communicating but who wants to whacked on the nose with a rolled up newspaper every time something goes wrong with a deadline or life intrudes rudely. FYI, Sanderson has a est 10 part series of which a new book comes out about every 3 years. (I won’t live that long.) Now my wife’s opinion (who reminds me of the Dana character) Get a grip people. Don’t harass the goose that’s laying golden eggs. If you need a quick steady titillation fix take your precious dollars down to the strip joint. If you want a quick drive through burger experience instead of a steak, there are other authors where you can get it quick and cheap and no you’re not paying for steak and getting drive-thru or as the Brits say, takeaway. Back off and let the writer write. Writing is a creative process and not a mindless assembly line production, and besides the Lionesses would not be impressed with your self-centered impatience.

Anthony Kester

@Hendrix and everyone else, I've been thinking about starting a competing Discord server that will encourage open discussions. I've got a list of server rules and channels. I just don't know if anyone would actually use it. One of the things that will end is Moderators also being server members. I think we've all learned from a certain TSM Discord mod that you can't be both. Let me know how many of you degenerates would like a new TSM Discord Server?

Anthony Kester

Since there was some interest in a new Discord Server, I made one. It is my first Discord server and things will be screwed up. Everyone has my apologies for that. I just ask that everyone behaves themselves. https://discord.gg/bqmmAyDKrG

Rev. Thwack

Bye, everyone. It's been a good ride these many years, but as I've said, I can't stick around and keep supporting these business practices, no matter how much I love the story. Tefler, if you do read this, know that I do hope the best for you. I would have loved to keep supporting your work, but you left me no choice. You kept charging us in advance, no matter how often you said you wouldn't. You never kept your word about getting caught up, no matter how many times you said you would, The big thing though, you never actually communicated with us, no matter how many times we begged and pleaded. I can't sit here and keep shouting at the void in hopes that you'll eventually respond, and I won't keep supporting someone who just ignores every concern and communication attempt from their customers. Bye all.

Jedi Khan

It would certainly be a twist if in the (hopefully) near future, Tefler finally gives some sort of update and/or explanation for things, and it turns out that explanation is that he's been exceptionally busy doing something awesome. Like compiling the ebooks, getting more artwork, or negotiating having the story turned into a manga/anime/TV series. I can totally see any of those requiring so much of his time that he falls behind on writing and requiring him to go radio silent in order to not spill the beans.

Big Orca

3 days to another chapter. How many people actually expects 2 chapters to catch up?

Brian

Only 2 days away from a half done/slapped together chapter, excuses why things went wrong and another placeholder to "Spread out the payments".

Dewey

So I typically avoid all of the conversation on this, but man do I wish Tefler would make ANY comment other than the once a month chapter upload/precharge. I remember going months back in 2020 I believe where he didn’t post a thing and just disappeared. I honestly thought he died and was expecting the worst and then just, hi I’m back with very limited explanation and then it’s been weird ever since TBH. I wasn’t around in the early days, but I hope he can find a middle ground as one of the major perks to every Patreon I subscribe to other than this one is interactions with the creator. I have zero intent of leaving, as he’s several chapters behind everywhere but here and I do love the work, but come on man, engage a little.

Well folks I don't know what to do. I've tried to wait on you I understand family problems believe me I do I almost got paralyzed this year had to have emergency surgery so believe me I understand family problems and things coming up and I'm a patient man Lord knows I am. I'm going to stick it out to the end of year. I am trying to have a little faith in my fellow man but my grandfather always had a saying live and hope die in despair I hope I'm not dying in despair.

Chicken

I won’t be happy if he does not deliver what we have paid for but I don’t think he is going to be able to dig out of that hole in a single month. If he delivers 158 and does not pre charge for another chapter I’ll wait it out another month but if he precharges again after stating “won't be any more back-dated posts” he is going to lose me an I suspect many other of his supporters.

Evan

We paid for chapter 158 on October 1st. We paid for chapter 159 on November 1st. The last chapter received was chapter 157 on October 31st. So, Tefler has two outstanding Paid for by patrons posts that have not yet been delivered upon. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I have hope, but am trying not to have expectations. I do wish that Tefler would communicate with us like he used to do when this was just starting.

Simon Fish

Just remember, writing is an art, and we have enjoyed Tefler's Three Square Meals story so far, if he then rushes chapters, it will not be the quality we need for this tale to strengthen & grow even more. Patience is a virtue, as the saying goes lol

Simon Fish

I agree that communication is Key, so please Tefler can you please provide short updates on a regular basis to keep people content and patient.... rgds, Simon

Mike Saxion

Another failed month. We were supposed to have 158 before now all according to Tefler. Just another lie and broken promises.

TF007

Need to start a crowd funding project to flood the Sahara Desert with the tears of Patreon members. I think it’s a doable project. Just think of all the food we could grow. “For only a few tears every day for a month you can help feed a starving child.” Please think of the children and donate. (“In the arms of an angel” playing in background)

Keepit simple

Pretty simple...great story with one chapter a month released on last day of the month. All of us want more but most need to adjust expectations to historical trend. Better to lower expectations than be disappointed continuously. Login on 1st, lower contribution level if not happy with being precharged...or raise when it goes to being charged when chapter actually finished and released. I am new here so had years to catch up on. Lucky that posts from other readers here helped direct me to other authors to fill in my reading needs while waiting for last day of each month for tsm next chapter.

I'm not really liking this place holder crap. Tefler is an adult. If he was working at a job instead of home he would have to produce work even with all the problems he claims unless he took the month off . I think he isn't using his time wisely now that he's working from home. I worked from home as a dba/programmer. You have to get up - shower - get dressed - eat breakfast and go into your home office and work. He obviously is not doing that.
