Lexi would have been a Thorne in Damon backside. She stronger than him an would have been able to stop him . He outsmarted a stronger vampire. Showing even if he weaker he still can come out on top .

On rewatches I don't go back to Season 1 because Season 2 is just so great . The best season of the show in my opinion.
