When Stephen said he hated Katherine an she made him pay for for it. That was my favorite moment of the episode. Katherine right if you hate her you still have feelings for her . Damon isn't the only person who hasn't moved on in 145 years . Stephen still has the trauma of dealing with Katherine.

Stephen saying you have feelings for my girlfriend an it makes you a better person is the craziest thing a brother has never said to a brother in history.

The writers saw that fans were loving Damon too much so they had to make his journey longer which is why he flip flops. So yeah Devon is right in that part flipping him so soon would not be realistic. Writing is subjective and up to interpretation my interpretation is what he says to Jeremy about erasing the pain is exactly what they’ve talked about before. Jeremy wanting to shut out the pain and turn and Damon experiencing that said pain and telling him that he’s shut out his humanity for a long time. Pretty cool dynamic/ parallel there imo I think we forget that Damon’s humanity isn’t full on like Stefan it’s on a dimmer so it fluctuates between up and down. That’s why he’s more “chaotic” at times and not as controlled. Here’s another cool dynamics Stefan is controlled in his humanity but not bloodlust, Damon is more controlled in his bloodlust but not his humanity. 👀 What he did is crazy though

As awful as Damon is in this moment, I really do think it’s such a fantastic moment in his character development…up until now Damon’s path to redemption has been somewhat accidental on his part, like when he helped get Stefan off the human blood mostly because he was worried about the council finding out about them more than that he cared about Stefan hurting people. They had to have him hit rock bottom to show what he’s still capable of if he chooses. Now he’s back at the starting line again and has to actually CHOOSE what he becomes from here, and it’ll have to be entirely intentionally this time.

That's so true, season 1 was just a glimpse I always say his arc starts here, and this time it's real not for show

IDGAF DAMON DID NOTHING WRONG 😭. This poor man has been doing his best to become better but was betrayed by bonnie, hurt by Elena and had his heart broken by Katherine after having feelings for her for 140 YEARS YES IT WAS A BIT MUCH BUT THE CRASH OUT IS VALID IDC and its perfectly in line with his character. proud damon apologist

This season really is peak for character development. Elena has a really nice arc, as well a some others. And we already saw the change in the writing with the Salvatore brothers. One thing I love is that Stefan interacts with more people who flesh him out SO MUCH, Kathherine definitely being one of them. Then of course she also brings different sides out in Damon, which is always in conflict with the side that Elena brings out in him. Belive me, I was so pissed when he snapped Jeremy's neck. But at the end of the day, he definitely cares to put in the work for his redemption, in a way he never had before. And man, the lore that gets introduced this season, soooo so good.

I love the way you put that. Stefan more control in humanity but not bloodlust, while Damon is more controlled in bloodlust but not his humanity. SO TRUE!

and people still defend damon. worst brother and partner in the series. constantly makes moves on his brothers girlfriend. kills the girl he supposedly likes brother. why cuz he got rejected. damon is just an insecure guy jelous that every girl he likes prefers stefan

You stressing too much, he's not real so there's nothing to "defend" 😭

It's the price you pay for being the most popular character. You're gonna want to milk development for as long as possible, and they can't have him being too "nice" because that's not what made him popular in the first place
