Damons real self on display with Rose . We get to see the real Damon . Not the monster he treated like by Stefan fans . An the rest of the cast . Damon definitely good with bad guy tendencys .

I was always a Damon fan . But this scene with him an Rose . That's the Damon he wants to keep away from Enemys . An even the people he cares about. Best character in the show.

It's funny last season Caroline said she never gets picked it's always Elena. This season she has to guys locked in on her . Caroline realizes it's not easy being Elena.

At this point, we already know Damon's patterns. But something Rose tells Elena that's important to remember is that killing brings pleasure to vampires. Damon, even as a human, was already an emotional person. As a vampire, this only becomes more prominent. And as he himself said, there's only so much pain a man can take. He tried to suppress his emotions with the pleasure of killing someone, but I don't think it worked very well.

As Damon has described it, a vampire's instinct is not to feel. To turn your humanity off. And we know vampires have heightened emotions (sadness is despair, etc). As Rose said, she and Damon are similar: they want to feel, but when they do they turn away from it. This is all Damon's internal struggle to willingly feel all the pain that comes with humanity or to take the instinctual route and shut it off. He's trying to break through to his humanity, but doesn't have a Lexi to help.

I love the end of that episode so much. It's the core struggle of Damon revealed and I also love how like 'realistic' or authentic to the shows vampire lore it is. Their emotions are heightened, their senses are heightened, their traumas heightened (due to time) and they are also predators who feel a physical sensation of pleasure from the hunt and the kill. If an unstable human lashes out they might get into a bar fight or do drugs or whatever, an unstable vampire meanwhile.... Both Stefan and Damon have these core emotional regulation issues they struggle with but because they are vampires the stakes are higher and the collateral damage is fatal. I actually especially love that Damon told the girl that she is free and only then bit her, because it was a good reminder by the show that vampires are not just different from humans but that their actual biological nature is that of a predatory hunter. Like any predator - be it a wolf or a tiger - their brains and bodies experience joy and thrill from the hunt itself. Ngl Damon reminded me a bit of a housecat playing with a mouse :D

Love Damon my fav that last scene is imp for his character it really shows his struggle and we hear it from him he misses to be human the most and something which was taken from him. I feel so bad for him. The rose scene is one of my fav damon scenes in the show when he cries I always can't help but cry with him Ian is such an amazing actor. The fact that someone like Damon feels so much and he gave peace to Rose in her final moments is so freaking beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
