So I heard the same things the show does Bonnie dirty all the time. An I'm like that's messed up . Then I found out she wanted to act an do music an wanted to Be in movies so she asked to be off show . But to the public the show was giving her less screen time . I'm like if we got the #1 show in America an our main star wants to leave to do music an movies . The show will look like the bad guy . But the actress did put out music an star in movies . Sarah Michelle gellar from Buffy said the same thing. She missed out on a lot of movies rolls . Because of Buffy's 17 hours work days . Once I heard she wanted less time on the show . Plus I may of heard of being not treated fairly too. But I'm not sure about that part . She shows up in some movies now . But her career post Vampire diaries isn't as big to me . She might have been in the biggie smalls movie I think.

The point of Bonnie being gone for the summer is they set it up as that's what she does for if she is missing no one would be wiser. That is the intention if you know anything about this series later that includes Bonnie story. If you recall she stays at Grams away from friends but Grams is dead now so they say she is away for the summer that will reoccur constantly they have to set it for Bonnie arc later in the series ! You seen this series you will understand why they need all her friends to think this is normal for her to be gone for the summer its easy to blame other reason but its clearly also plot driven. But people can think or say anything but the plot actually does demand her be gone from her friends without them be alarmed to it.
