Progress Report 2024 (I) (Patreon)

Hello everyone, started focusing on main game proper last Monday thanks to the new laptop I got, and am getting back into the groove of writing for many hours again with the free time i have atm. It's weird in a sense but also liberating to go all out again. 

Next week , I will release a preview demo of changes I've made to the start (mainly the large expo dump involving the Goddess being broken up throughout our childhood) and will want to hear your thoughts on it. Really want to erase the burden some readers have reported on the exposition being really lengthy. I also included and still am including more choices in the game to eliminate the "Next Page" syndrome lmao. 

What I have currently is close to 18k, and I hope to increase it up to 10k more at the most by the time I release next week for the Preview Demo. 

Which uh, brings me to my next point. 

Preview Demos. 

I have a weird brain where if I categorize something as an actual update, it has to be big and bring alot of changes. 

But I also don't want you guys to wait alot either, and I took the idea from Crusader King's mod Elder Kings that have an alpha version of the game that updates as soon as the creators make changes to the mod for players who'd rather get the most current change ASAP no matter for big or small instead of large more sweeping updates. 

Wanna test it out.

Now to the actual progress report:

Right from the getgo, the skip button will still exist for you for when the late main game content is released. The biggest change here though is that ive removed the orphan origin and changed it with the "Who tf am I?" Origin. Youre a blank slate, and it is my hope that players who dont like the other two origins choose this so they can headcanon whatever they want! 

Another change is the Outcast Origin, lets see what happens when we press on it. 

Skipping through some content and getting us straight to our choices, we see these as the vices responsible for you fucking up in life:

Honestly, I just wrote what came to mind and I couldve added more but I needed to move on. I'm American, so getting fat is a big problem over here, though I can tots see another country instead having a more widespread problem of not eating enough because of social pressure. Thats just for one example, please please please if you really want me to add something on here, lemme know! I'm a dude who is ignorant on the issues that may impact a young girl when growing up. 

I thought about adding in a whole "What was your vice?" Option but it wouldnt have had any really good accompanying content besides "And yes...this vice really fucked you up" when the others had a lil more of that Flame magic lmaoooo

The vices and upbringings will have impact on your childhood also, especially in regards to your new parents and how you can feel about it.

Onwards though!

The Goddess scene got slashed and is now under 900 words. 

Soon hi and bye Goddess! 

And then BOOM 

We get to choose our hair!!!

Our hair will now have significant consequences. And impact our mother.

Also around here, youll be meeting Adelina and Uriel and these passages will (hopefully imo) convey exactly what you need to know about them. 

Later on, maybe a year or so, we finally get confronted with our Origin making an appearance. 

Now, because i learned better coding lmao, I can present specific choice groups regarding your background or even stats. Like in the above example, this only pertains to the Outcast Origin, and YOU get to decide how your early years will go for your MC. Will ya be a mess? Will you be a mess still traumatized by the past or nah? 

Or if you picked the Golden or Blank Origin route, will you still be unable to move on from your old family or will the fact you have no memories put you too off to having a new one? 

Anyways, this type of shit can work with the simple *if command

My dumbass thought you had to make shit like *else and *elseif to activate the others. 

Spoiler alert: You do not.

So that means i can hide content and present them to people without even knowing that what theyre reading is something not common because they triggered the variable and have them get gaslit by other people saying theyre wrong :D
