Love the start keep it up my man/person.

Color me intrigued o.o

Primemodial16

Nice 😁. You know I was half expecting the Krell to be male and the Valbaran to be female but considering the MASSIVE size differences, some unions are just physically impossible 😳

ItWasn7Me

With the bugs now in the coalition will there be little dino birb crocs running around? I imagine they would be adorable

Awesome story so far I like that you are showing the valbarans in a less utopian style. Showing that their society is not perfect and that there are problems. Tepin it awesome too. Will we see some of our favorite characters returning? Morales, kaisha, Raz and the like? It would be interesting to see how they react to the darker side of the valbarans

Glad you're enjoying it, Alex! The last story was pretty heavy with returning characters, and I want to keep this one fairly short, but the next story will also feature Valbarans prominently so I may explore more of those themes then.

CthulhusDream

I'm torn, I desperately want to read the new stuff ASAP (I finished Firebrand in like 2 days) but I feel like I'm spoiling my enjoyment of the full story 🤔

The Jakkari are coming up in a few months, they're a cyborg species that has turned their solar system into a gigantic fortress to ward off Bug fleets.

this story is adorable so far and I really like the alien perspective more than I thought I would

Kracker

Noticed a spelling error on line 172, the word pain should be paint.

Alex McCutcheon

Good job on this one Tepin is awesome and he really has a lot of character I’m guessing that the overarching ploy for the valbarans is the inequality between the sexes. I like how you made them appear perfect and now we are seeing the, not never rely darker, but bad side of their culture. How they are, in a way, very conservative. Well done. It’s cool that you are showing that even such an advanced society that by today would be considered progressive, very conservative with their own culture. At any rate, Tepin is great and I’m enjoying seeing him explore the station

2000 word update, new content at 'Tepin was struck by her beauty.'

Another quick question. Do you plan on making the bugs more of a threat? I mean, it seams the coalition is handling themselves pretty well and I think it would be interesting if a queen say the coalition as a threat and started to actively conquer. She could potentially subjugate other queens in order to present a massive threat to the coalition. It could give the setting a greater sense of peril and provide some extra energy to the setting. You could explore the bugs some more and show how they can adapt, many creat some opposition to borealens as a response to their skill.

As you know, the Coalition is currently facing a kind of front, Bug fleets are coming in from a certain direction and attacking planets as their life cycle demands. They aren't entering Coalition space in a single direction because they're coordinating an invasion, but because they're fleeing. What the Coalition has fought so far are among the weakest hive fleets, newborns seeking a new planet to colonize. Deeper into Bug territory, they will begin encountering far more advanced and dangerous hives that have been established for potentially thousands, or tens of thousands of years, and who have been successfully adapting and defending their planets for that period of time. The first of these established hives will appear in Birds of Prey 2, when the Coalition attempts to uproot a hive that has been living on Kerguela for 30 years. Don't worry about the stakes, they're going to get plenty high as the Coalition goes on the offensive and starts pushing deeper into uncharted territory.

Snekguy
>>26830220

Up next is the Rask Rebellion, so get ready for tank combat in the deserts of Borealis.

rocks217

cool can't wait to see it

Snekguy

2000 word update to both versions, new content at 'He could feel her muscles moving'

Alex McCutcheon

Another thing, it would be cool if now that more advanced species are joining the Coelission, UNN stations will become more like Coelission stations instead, where humans are no longer the primary builders for the Coelission infrastructure. Yup

Snekguy

A little under 2000 words today, was a bit busier than usual. New content at “Do you...like it?”

Snekguy
