I’m feeling refreshed after my vacation, and I’m returning to work in the smut mines.

Up next is a total rewrite of Or Die Alone. It’s one of my oldest stories, and it’s in need of a lot of work, so I’ll be completely overhauling it to bring it up to my current standards. It’s up next for a cover and a retail version, and it needs to be ready for the artist in September. I got a lot of new stuff in the works, too, and I’ll be talking about my plans for those stories after I take care of a little maintenance.You can read the first 2000 words here:

I've caught a pretty nasty flu (no reason to think it's covid this time) and it's impacting my ability to work, so I'm going to take a couple of days off to rest and recuperate.

Chapter 1 is fully edited, the first 10,000 words.

No update today, as I had to handle a surprise Spotify launch.

Chapter 7 is finished, another 10,000 words.

I enjoyed a little break over the holidays, and I’m back to work now. The first 10,000 words of Chapter 8 are edited, this is a long one.

Another 10,000 words done, Chapter 8 is finished.

Another 10,000 words done, that’s Chapter 9 and some of 10. Overall completion is at 75% now, so we’re on the home stretch.

Chapter 10 has been edited, just two more to go.

Chapter 11 is edited, another 10k words done. I rewrote the part where they were transferring between ships because it was dragging.

Another 6000 words today. I've slowed down a little bit because I've identified some issues with Chapter 12 that I feel require some small rewrites. In reintroducing Boyd and Lorza to the climax of the story (where they were strangely absent in the original) I inadvertently made Captain Stavros appear less competent by having them make too many suggestions and steer the conflict in his place. I'm changing some of their interactions to address that imbalance and to make their input more appropriate to their areas of expertise. I also feel that the objectives of the invasion were somewhat unclear, so I'm switching the focus away from the number of missiles fired to revolve more around taking control of the tether.

Making progress, most of the important edits have now been made and there's only about 7,000 words of existing content left to proofread. I may add a couple of action scenes to spice things up a bit, but they won't be large.

I feel like I'm getting a pretty good handle on this now. I made a bunch more changes and tweaks, and there's only about 4000 words of existing content left to edit. We lost a couple of small action scenes in the shuffle so I may try to add a little more of that back in.

All existing content has been edited, and I'm much happier with the flow of Chapter 12. I'm now adding in the action scene I mentioned, which shouldn't take more than a couple of days, then that should be it! If you'd like to follow it, the new content starts at 'Korza lifted his head'

I was a little busy today, but I got another 1000 words done. Should be finished with the additions tomorrow.

All of the new content has been added, I just need to proofread and edit that small section tomorrow, then that should be a wrap!

Unfortunately I seem to have food poisoning so I'm going to take a couple of days off to recover.

Finished! The story is fully edited. It's been uploaded to the website, and I'll work on making ebooks and posting to other sites tomorrow.
