Keep in mind both Stannis publicly accused the Lannisters of incest to every kingdom in the realm. People don't know if it's true but they don't know it's not given Stannis' reputation. Stannis is absolutely allowed to release Jon Snow from the night's watch. They don't expand on this in the show but book Jon Snow was asked to burn the godswood in winterfell as part of the "lord of light's" demands. Obviously, different canons but it gives a better explanation as to why he doesn't do it. He considered it disrespectful to Ned and how he was raised.

Daenerys rules so far with simple and plain way of thinking " whatever just is the ways things need to be done", not a political way... Former slaves(full of resentment) just witnessed that their new Queen who is supposed to make them equal and free killed one their own (even if is just and by law) in front of them and masters. Which makes them feel like Queen is siding with masters and becoming new "master"... Best and neutral option would be executing in private not in front of crowd.

I loved your discussion

Finding that balance has plagued every king , real life or fiction, cant be too kind or youll be a bad king and you cant be too strong or youll be known as cruel, i personally think stannis so far has shown the best mix, hes strong to where people have a healthy ammount of fear but he is also not cruel

This is where the books and show diverge a bit more , but a cool plot in the books around this time of northern sucession is that prior to robs death in the books he wrote a letter for one of the starks gaurds to deliver to Howland reed (Meera and Jojens father who were the 2 kids traveling with bran) assumingly naming Jon as his heir and making him a stark, in the books its still a mystery whether or not the letter was received by Howland reed , and that letter was written in the precense of all the major lords in the north who accepted Jon as basically a stark

But doesn't he like, burn people alive that don't believe in his god? Then again, that's probably Melisandre putting him under a spell idk
