Idk if you guys already know this, but the author originally intended Jinshi to be a minor, comedic, and somewhat annoying character, and she even planned to kill him early in the story. But he turned out to be popular so she changed his fate and now she’s saying he is the hardest character to write due to how complex and multi layered he is now

I think Fengxian (Mao Mao's mom) wants to get pregnant with Lakan's daughter so that the ongoing deal of other customers would fail. Otherwise, even if Lakan and Fengxian truly loved each other, it doesn't mean that the brothel would allow her to be sold to Lakan. Fengxian did that believing that Lakan would then bought her out at a cheap price (because she is now pregnant, it would de-value her). It was an almost perfect plan, if not for the Grandfather forcing Lakan to go study abroad.

unrelated but because of these romantic vibes I went to watch your reactions to Kaguya Love is War and was a bit upset you didn't react to season 4 ;( maybe you can find time for that? it's only 4 episodes and gives a great conclusion to kaguya x miyuki storyline

oh and there's 2 more episodes released just a month ago. I really hope they'll adapt the whole manga eventually, I love wholesome shows so much

Apparently, no one explained this to you. But just to be clear, Meimei ended up falling in love with Lakan. So her crying in Fengxian's room was something much more complex. This is the reason why, a few episodes ago, Maomao says she can't understand Meimei (she knows Meimei is in love with Lakan), and the reason for her later statement about not being able to love. And the reason for Maomao's statement about wanting Lakan to buy Meimei.

Nope, the old lady said that she was "gone" when Lakan ran there in the rain after coming home and seeing her letter and the fingers. And at the beginning of this episode Lakan said he wanted to be with the daughter she "left behind". Poor dude was in the dark til now.

Yeah, I didn't get this the first time I watched either. Someone mentioned it after, and now I can absolutely see it in the way she acts toward/about Lakan.

i've rewatch Apotechary Diaries for countless times, and i just realised that Season 1 is mainly about Mao Mao while Season 2 is about Jinshi. I wonder what season 3 gonna be about
