i need Episode 14 :(

Castiel_01x

Sorry for the long comment, but this episode is so full of dense layers. Lol, what is Hisagi thinking? Kensei had every right to badmouth Tosen. I mean, Tosen was involved in the whole Vizard situation. Through the sub-texts we could have identified before that the Bleach cosmology is based on the Buddhist concept of five realms, and now, through Sajin's elder, we basically got confirmation of it. I also liked how we were not fed that info earlier; we were shown naturally as the story progressed forward. Remember when Oetsu said no Soul Reaper has awakened an Asauchi of their own. If you go back to the OG Bleach, where Ichigo first called out Zangetsu, we saw Tessai being shocked for no apparent reason, but now we know why. Quincies are the ones who gather reishi and manifest weapons of their own, which prompted Tessai to join the dots and get the answer much earlier than the audience did. Old Man Zangetsu says he is Yhwach, but at the same time, he is not. As OMZ was monologing, he switched from referring to himself as a spirit and the actual Yhwach. That why he said he was concerned for Ichigo, as Ichigo was bound to face the real Quincy King, which would result in Ichigo's death according to OMZ. Here, we get more info on what happened during Ichigo vs Kenpachi in the Soul Society arc. While they drew each other (some say Ichigo won, which is wrong), a result which did not make sense at that time, we have got more context for it through episodes 9 and 13 of TYBW. Kenny was suppressing his powers to match his opponents. At the same time, OMZ was raising Ichigo's limit by using the Quincy Shadow, Blut Vene (this stopped Ichigo from bleeding) and letting more of his true powers to help him get a draw vs Kenny. You guys touched upon this one. It is a long, gradual, painful, up-and-down journey of Ichigo in his attempt to self-actualise. The payoff is so good because of how difficult that journey was. That is why the Blade is Me is one of the highest peaks of Bleach. The word "is" is highlighted in the chapter Blade is Me. The chapter before this in the manga was titled Blade and Me 2. So Ichigo reached into the manga medium to take control over the mangaka and make his own destiny by carving "is" instead of "and". Such a beautiful example of how META the Bleach manga is. Lastly, the reason why Ichigo was able to harmonise is because of Masaki's love. Hollow Ichigo is a representation of Aizen, and OMZ is a representation of Yhwach filtered through Masaki's eyes, which was passed on to Ichigo. I love how Kubo utilised motherhood here and also in the episode with Unohana and Kenpachi.

They doubled up yesterday so I'd figure we resume next week

I am sure mangaka pulled a houdini trick with OMZangetsu thing. Making it seem today that he was a quincy power manifestation but clearly in the past he was shown as legit soul reaper power along with hollow that was part of Ichigo's powerset. He helped Ichigo with Zanpakuto name, taught him the meaning of relationship with Zanpakuto, alone taught Ichigo bankai. His form even changed when Ichigo entered inner world in bankai state. I mean... Both hollow and omz were intended as Ichigo's Zanpakuto, a rare case for Ichigo to have two representatives. This omz = quincy thing is a stretch. He basically made quincy king look like omz to create that houdini trick.

If you remember really early on Zangetsu had his famous speech about how he hates the rain. He said when Ichigo is in pain or despair the world will rain, and we saw it in his fight against tensa zangetsu when he was deppressed and the world was under water. You can see Ichigo heart 'break' the moment Zangetsu said he's not really Zangetsu. He felt lied to his whole journey so he felt immense heartbreak that sunk the world in moments, crazy detail.

Daniel

Think back to all the times White Ichigo said he was Zangetsu. He was always telling the truth. Also another crazy detail -Rewatch episode 19 and around 13:00 you literally hear Zangetsu try to reveal his real name to Ichigo first, but Ichigo only hears the last part of "Ju Ha Ba Ha." as if something blocks it. Incredible foreshadowing. I am mindblown!

THE_KENPACHI

I thought today was supposed to be 14

gggoos

It's funny how recognizable Uryuu is just from his gait alone. He has a distinct walking style

holdmyhandsaw

Yeah, I really wonder why Hisagi said that. If he was trying to say that Tosen shouldn't be spoken ill of, perhaps because he was really a kind person who was a victim of the soul society and later Aizen's plotting, that would be one thing. But Tosen was literally the person who took out not only Kensei but also all of Kensei's other subordinates... Even if you are a staunch advocate of restorative justice, it should absolutely be allowed and within reason to call your attempted murderer a mean name or in this case "soft" lol

Joshi

Do not compare Uryu to that brat 😂

Marou

This whole time I was so afraid you guys would notice that OMZ kind of looks like Yhwach before this episode revealed everything🤣

gggoos

It's not too far of a stretch. Sure it's easy to call it tat for valid reasons but in the manga there is a foreshadow that you couldn't figure out yet. Which will be later revealed for them and it's basically how some stuff concerning omz is foreshadowed in the manga vs anime. Ofc you can always call it bs and just doing it later on but the seeds planted for those to be possible have always been there

Ashish Kumar

Please explain those hints with spoiler warnings, I would like to see. I have been thinking this thing for quite some time and would like to stand corrected.

Castiel_01x

Spoilers So basically, Old Man Zangetsu first tried to say his actual name (Yhwach) to Ichigo when he first met him. But the name was covered in ink, which is Ichibe's doing.

Ashish Kumar

Spoilers... So you mean OMZ later gaslit Ichigo into thinking he was afraid so he couldn't hear his name callout before? Some more spoilers please.

Castiel_01x

Spoilers OMZ did not gaslit though. He probably wanted to turn Ichigo into a Quincy there and then. If that's the case, then Ichibe must have stopped it from happening. We, as viewers and Ichigo himself, thought that it was due to fear. That being said, if you have doubts about the logistics behind this event, the word that was brushed over in the manga only fits Yhwach and not Zangetsu.

Ashish Kumar

Spoilers I had a hard time getting behind this thing. I can justify it as Ichigo's Yuha being Zangetsu as well but he sees himself as a quincy. No quincy has a Yuha manifestation in them. Ichigo is rare for that. Ichigo's soul got exposed to Asauchi based hollow "White". That created a manifestation of a Zanpakuto spirit within Ichigo. Because Ichigo's soul had duality of Shinigami and Quincy, his manifested Zanpakuto spirits were also two. OMZ is Zanpakuto spirit who is part quincy. White is Zanpakuto spirit who is part Hollow. So OMZ didn't lie about being Zangetsu. He simply hid the fact that he was part quincy. Whereas White was already revealed to be part hollow Zanpakuto spirit.

Ashish Kumar

Why did OMZ change form when Ichigo entered inner world in bankai. Why White called OMZ "Zangetsu" BEHIND Ichigo's back. Why did OMZ teach half of the things about Zanpakuto to Ichigo, specially bankai and fgt of all things. These things do make it look like a retcon.

Tea_Lover

Wow that’s fucking crazy I need to rerewatch bleach
