When Ichigo was training with Kisuke to get Zangetsu for the first time. The manga chapter and volume was called "The Blade and Me." Referring to Ichigo's view on his sword as another entity/ tool. Now it's called "The Blade is Me" after Ichigo accepts himself and understanding what the blade is.

Yesss my favorite episode in cour 1!! Ties in so many things with a nice little bow from the original series. Like Old man Zangetsu trying to introduced himself when Ichigo first met him, he actually tried to tell Ichigo he was Yhwach but his name was blocked out. And when Ichigo was fighting his hollow, the hollow said that HE was Zangetsu. I'm so excited for more!!!

Theses are exaggerated numbers. I don't know the actual percentages but this was just to give visuals. So Ichigo has been fighting with maybe 30% of his full strength up till now and only his Soul Reaper powers. His Quincy power (50%) was suppressing his Soul Reaper powers (49%) in the beginning and allowing (1%) out. But as Ichigo got stronger more of his Soul Reaper powers was released by the Quincy powers. 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%....... etc. Now he should be able to use all (50%) of his Soul Reaper powers AND all (50%) of his Quincy powers.

I think his quincy and hollow parts are even visible in his personality and decisions. Old man zangetsu always was saying that all he wants is to defend ichigo, which is the same as ichigos will to defend his close ones. However his hollow always was talking about instinct and fighting and looking for stronger oponents, which was something he was doing in hueco mundo arc. Grimmjow even pointed it out at one point and ichigo was trying to reject that side of him. They are two halfs of his personality that we can see across the story. That is at least my interpretation.

A few episodes back you theorized about Quincy Ichigo and were essentially right. Getsuga Tensho is a technique passed down by Isshin but theirs is different because of the Quincy influence. Isshin has a melee strike with the fire element, Ichigo has a ranged strike of concentrated spiritual pressure.

This is genuinely one of the most well written reveals in the story. Knowing what we know now from this reveal, so many things make sense. During the Kenpachi vs ichigo fight during the ss arc, the reason “zangetsu” was abl to stop ichigos bleeding was because he was using “blut venne”, which is a cool detail/hint. Also, the times ichigo is training in his innner world to control his hollow powers and he fights “white” ichigo asks him where is zangetsu, and white responds with “I am zangetsu” which is what ichigo is referring to in this episode when he says there were no lies in either of their words. Ichigos hollow powers are “zangetsu” lol.

Neat little tidbit - the chapter in the manga where Ichigo encounters Zangetsu for the first time during Urahara's training is called "The Blade And Me" and now we've come full circle to Ichigo accepting himself and of course, the title is "The Blade Is Me"

Its so crazy to think with Zangetsu's reveal that basically all of Ichigo's quincy powers are being spent to hold back as much of Ichigo's soul reaper / hollow powers. So out of Ichigo's inherited Soul Reaper powers (from his dad) and his Hollow powers (from White) and his Quincy powers (from his mom) he's only ever used a tiny amount of the soul reaper and hollow power while the quincy power has been just holding back all the rest. And he's rivaling / surpassing soul reaper captains and top arrancars with just that lil bit. Its like he's beating people in arm wrestling while his off hand is pushing against his main hand during the match. So hype to see him put all of that power to use.

I always thought Hisagi's line was stupid when he says to Kensei "You have no right to bad-mouth Tosen." Yes he does lol In fact if there's anyone who has the right it's Kensei because Tosen served under Kensei and he was directly betrayed by him.

The closest Ichigo got to this was when he used the final getsuga tensho because he had to accept White and "Zangetsu" were both a part of him. But he did that without knowing where they came from and what it means. So he was still incomplete.

Also shoutout to the boy Toshiro for spending the better part of two years to further master his bankai only for it to be stolen before he had a chance to use it.

Also both Zangetsu and Yhwach share the same VA, so this might have been also a hint, though to be fair there was quite a break from when last time Zangetsu spoke.

The hollow from the beginning said his name was Zangetsu and Ichigo chose not to believe him. Remember the first time old man Zangetsu used him he thanked the hollow for helping out and the hollow said that power will eventually be his, because it IS his power.

I dont think hasagi knew about what Tosen did. Gotta remember most of the events that happened were unknown by most of soul society until like 2 years ago. I doubt its been explained in detail to everybody yet. Kensei just didnt bother correcting hasagi for being clueless.
