My fav stern ritter Gremmy , in the manga Askin and i think even stronger ones were shook once he summoned a meteor 👀 if only he was smarter.. but good for us right haha

Without spoiling anything about the character itself, the in-universe explanation for why Gremmy is so ass at using the "Visionary" schrift is because he'd been locked up in a cage until the invasion because Yhwach deemed him too dangerous to leave unchecked. Because of that, Gremmy has literally no battle experience and hasn't had a chance to fully explore the schrift. He's basically just a kid playing and discovering things as he uses the power and he's still one of the strongest in the verse lmao. The out of universe explanation is that there would be no story if Gremmy just went around blowing people's heads up like Dr. Manhattan lol.

Gremmy's one of those characters that on paper, should just never lose, but does for the sake of plot lmao. Kubo needed a hella OP character to pit against Shikai Kenny to demonstrate how strong he'd gotten. If literally any other Captain had been there instead of him, they would've been folded, since no one can just brute strength their way through hax like Kenny can.

This character has to be the dumbest possible enemy with the most op ability. He could literally just imagine his opponent blowing up and win. Of course they had to give this ability to the generic shounen character looking villain.

"Will he give it to Mayuri?" throwing good questions like these as a joke is hilarious, There's some stuff not adapted in the anime about Gremmy. All other Sternritters fear him, he was considered extremely dangerous and unstable so he was lock up, sealed away by Yhwach himself only to be used as a Weapon. This is why he summoned the Meteor, he was out to get everyone, Quincies and Soul Reapers both. Being sealed away for so long is why his Imagination is underdeveloped.

Kenpachi’s ability is more complex than just a general power up. When he says there is nothing he can’t cut, he means it. It’s not limited to physical objects.

A few notes ya'll. There is a connection between Yachiru's shikai segment and the flashback during Kenpachi's shikai release. The flashback was more about her than it was about Kenpachi. But you guys didn't understand it and thought it was about Kenpachi's name...and it's ok in the future that flashback will become more clear....just remember that particular moment when Kenpachi jumps towards the meteor and says his zanpakuto's name "Nozarashi" as it cuts to Yachiru staring up at him before the flashback hits. It will be a talking point to revisit. This is all hints and foreshadow, but I bring it up just so you guys can think more about it. There's a panel in the manga that they did not include in this episode. Haschwalt orders the soldat to protect his majesty when Gremmy creates the meteor and other sternritters like Bazz B looking up saying "Gremmy what the hell are you doing?" and Askin saying "That guy is crazy, that's why he should've stayed locked up". So even the Quincy were panicked due to Gremmy's reckless abandon.

"Show me what your brain can do. Show me what you can imagine", I think you got it right off the bat in your analysis! The whole battle is a challenge between Kenpachi and Gremmy. Kenny tells him, "There's nothing your mind can image that I cannot cut", and Gremmy takes that seriously... and so the rest of the episode is Gremmy trying to think of as many different things as possible (Guns!) to defeat Kenny. Could Gremmy just imagine Zaraki turns completely into a cookie and dies on the spot? Sure! But he wants to show that his imagination is stronger than Kenpachi's sword, not show that Kenny can't negate magical abilities with his own magical abilities. ...and it feels like Nozarashi's power is to make anything Kenny wants to cut, well, cuttable. Even abstract concepts.

Maybe it's just clearer in the manga due to the nature of the medium, you're forced to focus on just the pages in front of you without any music, voice acting or crazy effects but most reactors seem to miss the giant hint the Yachiru flashback scene gives. And the anime just quickly goes through her shikai, essentially the two monsters she have follow her cutting motion, one of them swings before she does, and one swings after her making her attack very difficult to dodge.

Even when our chats go for an hour, it doesn't feel like enough time! Honestly sometimes I wish we didn't have to upload on a schedule so we could spend more time pondering and discussing the different themes. It's difficult to talk about everything we want to because there's a certain amount of work we need to get done with each recording session. We end up having better analysis conversations while we're not recording and just doing our day to day things like eating dinner.. 🤣 There have been so many instances where we're like damn we should've talked about that in the recording... 😭 Maybe we should do more pillow talks? 👀
