Pedro

Dam this cool I havent watched this anime in a long time this perfect for me to rewatch it. :)

GodUsopp

The anime/manga that started so many anime tropes to be forever used by other anime as inspiration, The anime that directly inspired Bleach, Naruto and One piece. RIP Akira toriyama the goat

GodUsopp

Toriayam was already one of the most famous mangaka ever do to his manga dr slump being a super famous comedy/gag manga, so when he made the transition to dragon ball it started out with a extremely comedic tone since he was scared of losing that audience, he later obviously became a god father of shonen action

Ubergamer

You two are going to have a blast with this one DB is mostly focused on the adventure and it's as you already seen very comical BTW, not that it matters at this point but Pillaf's [the blue guy] voice actor in sub is the one that voices Buggy in OP

BigCity

Nostalgia overload!!

fullyautos

Are they doing Z and Super too?

GodUsopp

yeah they are doing it as one continous series like naruto to naruto shippuden

fullyautos

Amazing !! I hope they go daily eventually with dragon ball

GodUsopp

Its kinda crazy how the original dragon ball english opening predicted how "ageless and timeless" the series would be, Its 2026 and they are still making new series and video games. Its essentially a japanese version of a superman comic

Whoopsie

Hell yeah OG DB! I agree the vibe is very different especially compared to newer anime just the old style hits differently for sure. The series overall tone changes as it goes on but yeah early DB is pure adventure. And DB is inspired by Journey to the West and Goku being similar to Sun Wukong/The Monkey King. Toriyama was also influenced by Jackie Chan and the Kung fu craze back during the 70s. His humor is pretty similar to Odas just more pervy lol. Also Toriyamas artstyle is very unique and you can recognize it right away. Some of his other works he did character design for you might have seen are Dragon Quest the video game series and Chrono Trigger a beloved video game.

Ranma ½ ( 1989–1992) is another good old school anime. Then the Ranma 1/2 movies and OVA (1991-1994). Then in 2024 they started a remake which as of now has 3 seasons.

Mahti

OG DB is the best DB, DBZ being close second

Volt

Start of a legendary journey it's gonna be so good

Vinay N

The first anime I watched as a kid . Glad you picked the dubbed version guys thankyou!!

Huzefa Haris

The reason why I think you don't remember anything is because you probably grew up on Dragon Ball Z which is the sequel to the original Dragon Ball show that you're currently watching.

GodUsopp

I would reccomend reading the passages. Oda, Kishimoto and Tite kubo the writers of One piece, naruto and bleach. Read the passages they wrote to toriyama after he passed, its quite sad. I remember reading a story of how all these famous and succesful mangaka where gathered in a room talking including those 3 and then toriyama walked into that room and the whole room went dead quiet because everyone got scared of talking over toriyama

Shahrul Nizam

Anyways hope you guys can react to the final finale episode of My Hero Academia on 2nd May! 5:30pm JST I'm sure it will be a great farewell to the series 🥹❤️

JDanime

Ya we'll be watching Z and I guess Super if it's the sequel 😊

JDanime

Oooh yes can definitely see the inspiration from Journey to the West :D

JDanime

Where can we find these?

JDanime

Thanks for letting us know. Def something we want to check out!

GodUsopp

On the internet, you can search up like "kishimoto note to toriyama following his death", "oda note to toriyama following his death"

Sing Chen

Subbed to the patreon for this! Hope you guys enjoy your ride, it’s still to this day my favourite. And yeah Goku is based on Wukong. In fact, he even just has the same name. The dub doesn’t use his full name much, but Son Goku is just the Japanese reading of 孫悟空.

MajinVegeta420

< 3 You're gunna love it < 3 . Every step of the journey. From Dragon Ball to DBZ all the way until now. The Goat of all Goats franchises. all the series movies and games goated. Hell even all the non canon movies filler episode and other stuff is all goated.
