Alrighty squad, here's the breakdown for my latest piece, "Kidnapping? More Like Surprise Adoption". Prolific, I know. (I actually call it "Best Chicken" behind the scenes, but don't tell anybody!)

The thought process wasn't too insane. I re-watched the episode Parental Glideance, and wanted to make a little tribute to that adorable face Scootaloo makes in the last scene.

Y'know, this one

So here goes! Firstly, the rough sketch

Everything was pretty clean cut once I decided how to line up the characters. I ended up drawing Scootaloo separately from everyone else so I could get an individual image of her for a possible sticker design! It was a bit of a pain fitting her back in though, since the other characters were practically woven into each other ><

Now to colors!

I think the hardest part was balancing out all of the colors. Rainbow and her mother have practically the same coat color, which I tweaked a liiiiittle bit, and then the parents have wacky clothing in comparison with Rainbow's rainbow hair and Scootaloo's ORANGE. Orange is a PAIN to work with, I tell you!

The last part was, again, blending the colors together. Scootaloo's color really stands apart like a sore thumb (orange is literally the stark opposite color from blue), so I meshed in some more purple/yellow, which are nice mediums. It was mostly a bunch of try, try again until everything felt more cohesive.

I decided on two versions: one with just the family, and another with the camera effects. I'm a sucker for cute horse selfies...and it's another excuse to throw some puns in there too!

The non-camera version will be made into a postcard for my Guest of Honor + tier patrons!
