I really hope we focus on a sibling each episode!! We'll get to see all of their interactions and relationships this way.

Every episodes makes me want to watch the next one immediately, I am loving the writing and set up.

How weird would it be to see ghosts at random times, it's giving me Sixth Sense vibes, but in a very different way.

This is the kind of horror that I absolutely love! It definitely feels very realistic and possible 😨

Also, it's SO hard for me to take Shirley seriously because of her name 🤣

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch along.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, you are the best!!

FULL LENGTH - The Haunting of Hill House Season 1 Episode 2 - Open Casket

You need your own copy of the show to watch along with me though since this is solely my reaction. The video is there so you can have an idea when the scene changes in case you need to sync up, but it is HEAVILY blurred so I don't have any copyright issues. Enjoy!!

I know that feeling very well, to want ot know how it all plays out...😉 As for Shirley, I liked her the least of all siblings. And the actress (like everybody in the ensemble) plays her so well. Yes, she and her husband have a great way of raising their children. Being a elementary school teacher myself, that is the exact way I am trying to talk with children. But other than that, she is hard on herself, even harder on others. She does a lot of blame-shifting and can be very cold and condescending. Sending Luke away from the wedding of his twin sister, knowing how much Nell wanted to have him there, was a really mean thing to do. I get where she's coming from, but the right thing to do would have been to let Nell talk to him and let her decide if he can stay. She said this day is supposed be about Nell, but she made it about herself when she presumed to make decisions FOR Nell, instead of WITH her. Her coping mechanism is control. When you understand things, you're able to fix them and thus control them. Not being able to control something freaks her out and she starts to lash out. We saw that with Theo last episode and with Steve and Luke in this one. Her heart is in the right place (see the generous discounts that would drive their funeral home in the red, if her husband wouldn't intervene), but she is on the brink of breakdown. The only way she can keep herself together is preparing her sister, that is the only way for her to control the situation. She seems to believe she's the only one who can fix things and puts too much weight on her shoulders - control. And when she can't control something, she shuts it out of her life - Lukes addiction, Steve using their family history to gain success, their dad for not telling them anything and so on. What did Steve say in the last episdode? "A ghost can be a lot of things. A memory, a daydream, a secret. Grief, anger, guilt." Given that she sees her own ghost (the man on the couch, toasting to her), there is definitely a secret and reading her facial expression - guilt. 🤔 Like her despised older brother she clings to reason, just in a slightly different way. I love that so far both siblings got their own back story and how they still, after all these years, trying to come to terms with the loss of their mother. How did they manage to cast the cutest kids out there as young Nell and Luke? And (especially with young Nell) such a talented one? 😊 I've read that Mike Flanaghan, while filming, waited at the end of a scene for about ten seconds with the "cut!", to give the actors time to really play out an intense moment or dialogue. Sometimes it got trimmed in editing afterwards, but often it was kept in and created that special palpable tension of the show. This episode got a lot of praise from mortitians for it's exact depiction of the preparation of a human body. Even the dummies of the actors looked so real, that several crew members were creeped out by them and the consulting mortician for the show stated that the bodies were "dead on." 😅🙈 Can't wait for next mondays episode, this tv-show mondays really grow on me from week to week...👌😊

Shirley you can't be serious??

I'm not surprised you're thirsty for more, the Flanagan series' are some of the most bingeworthy content Netflix ever produced. They're all built around creating tension and raising questions with every episode but with generally very satisfying payoffs. I'm excited to see more!
