Thank you Brad for this reactr request of this great intro to a whole new world!!

A very important note, this is the movie that came out in 1978. It is the 2h 4 minute long version.

From what I can tell, this is the first three episodes edited together (Saga of a Star World parts 1 to 3).

I always love seeing worldbuilding, and finding out what circumstances our characters are in. Plus, who doesn't love seeing the good boy Muffit 🤣

And finding out what the title refers to, is always a bonus :)

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much for being here!!

As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, just feel like sharing... don't hesitate!! 😁

FULL LENGTH REACTION | Battlestar Galactica (1978) [2025]

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watch along with me since this is solely my reaction. The video is there so you can have an idea when the scene changes in case you need to sync up, but it is HEAVILY blurred so I don't have any copyright issues. Enjoy!!

Unnamed Cylon- ‘(mechanical voice).. Atlantia death squadron, attack.’ Imperious Leader- ‘I now alter the bargain..’ Imperious Leader- ‘We thank you for your help, Baltar; your time has come to an end…’

Technician- ‘Of course the first one will need to be carefully looked after..’

From what I can tell.. in the US it’s not available on Amazon Video.. I found it on Fandango..

Thanks, Véro! 🌌 This show filled the gap for us nerds-of-a-certain age between STAR WARS (1977) and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980). I love it for what it was, but the reboot series (2003 through 2009) and its spinoff/prequel CAPRICA (2009 through 2010) were also highly entertaining and emotionally resonant in a way the old series wasn't.

I really enjoyed this. It was new to me as I’d only ever seen a few random episodes of the show growing up. The theme music remains as epic as I remembered too. I still love the look of the cylons and the fighter ships. It’s given me lots of nostalgia for older shows like this and made me wish Knight Rider and The A-Team were included in the recent poll 😁

If I’m remembering correctly.. Baltar is executed here.. but somehow plays the same role in subsequent TV episodes., I don’t know the mechanics of it.. but .. the character and actor playing him are incredible! .. I’m glad a loophole was created so that he survived..

RegalEagle

IMHO.. the other ‘70’s two part TV episodes are worth it.. but the stand alone episodes.. not so much.. esp the ones with the ‘super kids’

RegalEagle

I think in Europe.. those two parters were spliced together and presented in the movie theatres.. as was this..

RegalEagle

So, Europeans had; I think; 3 ‘70’s BSG’s..

There is also a movie I believe called ‘Battlestar Galactica 1980’ where the ship reaches Earth!

Now it’s time to watch Battlestar Galactica (2003) and see what an amazing version of the same source material looks like. I’ve enjoyed introducing people to that series which they initially blow off because of the connection to the 1978 one. Then they come back a week later, tell me they just finished binging the first season and it’s their favorite adult drama - not Sci-fi, but adult drama. I’d love to see you watch the two hour movie of the 2003 version and compare it to the 1978 show!

BY YOUR COMMAND. I’m a big BSG fan and it was great seeing you enjoy it! There are definitely select episodes you should watch if you want to continue. As for the Reboot, try watching the 2-Part “Miniseries” to see if you can handle the way the cameras move.

BSG is merely a passable example of late-70's sci-fi, mostly remembered in its format as a TV series. It wasn't among my favorites, but even I still had a nostalgic affinity for the show, and certainly can't forget my little childhood crush on Corporal Rigel (the "Launch when ready." " something-something Microns", girl)

One of the highlights of this movie.. and all the ‘80’s incarnations is that incredible theme music! .. yes.. ‘Spaceballs’ I think was specifically referencing that full ship pan with the theme music in the background when they panned the ‘endless ship’ in their parody..

JAKH

Not sure if it is visible in this version, but in the full TV version, when the Cylon fighters are attacking the city, the city lights on the lower right of the screen spell out "FUCK YOU", and it made it past the censors. :)
