Thanks to our Marble winner Chris G. for this pick!!

A quick heads up, I'm watching the director's definitive edition which is the 114 minute long version, which is the version most readily available online.

Reflecting since watching this, I can understand why Daniel Day-Lewis is a great actor, he just becomes the character, and is very believable in the setting. Usually we think of actors based on their character arc, but for him, I don't want to say he's forgettable, it's just that he doesn't look like he's acting. I definitely need to see more of him though!!

Those last 10-15 minutes though 🤩😭I'm a sucker for a memorable ending lol

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much for being here!!

FULL LENGTH REACTION | The Last of the Mohicans (1992) [2025]

You need your own copy of the media to watch along with me though since this is solely my reaction. The video is there so you can have an idea when the scene changes in case you need to sync up, but it is HEAVILY blurred so I don't have any copyright issues. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the reaction. I enjoyed it. 👍 A few of the events depicted in the movie actually happened in real life. Both the siege of Fort William Henry and the massacre that followed were real events, and both Colonel Monro and General Montcalm were real people. Unfortunately, the real-life Colonel Monro did not have any children, so Cora and Alice are entirely fictional....

I've watched "The Last of the Mohicans" a few times, including the theatrical release which has a slightly longer monologue by Chingachgook, which I liked but isn't favored by critics. Really liked Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe in their roles, and the entire cast as well. As I'm watching Vero's watchalong and the movie I'm looking at the actor who plays Major Duncan Heyward and can't help but think that he looks awfully familiar... but, I can't place him. I look up his name while the scene is playing and see that he is a major character in an MGM+ series I just finished - "Robin Hood" (2025). I want to give a shoutout also to Wes Studi, the actor who plays the murderous Magua. As a child, Wes spoke only his native Cherokee at home. As a young man, he enlisted in the Army National Guard as did many Native Americans on the reservations. He'd already fulfilled his military obligation and therefore was not subject to the draft but volunteered to serve a tour in Vietnam in the Army infantry. Wes' next collaboration with director Michael Mann was a supporting role that was much different than the character of Magua and he got to show off his diverse talent. I won't spoil any more than that and I think that eventually Vero will react to Michael Mann's next film.

"Oh great spirit, a warrior flies to you now swift as an arrow shot into the sun. Welcome him into the circle of the council fire. He is my son Uncas and tell him to be patient." "As for myself I will come soon enough..., I Chingachgook, the last... of... our people." Not at all accurate... 🙂

"How do you get to Can-tuck-ee?" "Well you kinda face north... and then sudden-like turn left."

You crack me up sis, "are they meeting for a conjugal visit". LMAO you are too funny :) But a great movie and as a person whom has hiked a lot on the Appalachian Trail in Tenn. and Virginia, I love those views. I do wish the could have explored the relationship of the younger brother Uncas and the younger sister Alice. He gave his life for her and she would rather kill herself than be without him and of course the horrors that she would be forced into. They had a love for each other and I just wished that was explored a little more. oh by the way, the actress that played Alice, Jodhi May was only 17 when the movie came out and 17 during shooting is probably why they were careful with her and any romance or crazy death scenes. With regard to Michael Mann he has had some amazing movies. I highly recommend Heat , 1995 with Robert Dinero, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer and a very young Natalie Portman. Also he did a movie that came before Silence of the Lamb called Manhunter. from 1986, Another Great movie.
