A LOT of his stories have been adapted to the screen, and making this list made me realize just how many movies that I've heard of are actually based on his stories 😅🤣

As usual, you can vote for multiple entries.

The poll will end on May 4th @ 11am EDT (3pm UTC)

I would love to know which movies you've seen AND read the books!

So many good ones, Véro! 😱

One honorable mention should be The Night Flier; it's based on one of King's short stories and follows a tabloid journalist as he searches for a killer who may be a vampire

Darrell Scott

Only one I've done both book and movie is The Stand. Favorite book of all time.

"Misery" and "Creepshow" are the gold standard when it comes to Stephen King. 🩸🥇

No Maximum Overdrive? 😭 I guess these picks will have to make do then. 😁

The movies I've seen: "Carrie" "Creepshow" "Christine" "The Dead Zone" "Stand By Me" "The Running Man" "Pet Sematary" "Misery" "The Dark Half" "The Mist" "1408" The ones I've read (all prior to seeing the movies): All the movies I've noted EXCEPT "1408" I did read "The Long Walk" but reviews have kind of steered me away from seeing the movie.

"The Stand" (1994) for a future watch

Biggsy

I've seen none of these movies nor read any of the things they are adapted from so I'm going in blind as well 😄

Jonathan Spahn

I've read almost all of his books 📚 Only 2 have been adapted properly as movies, in my opinion. The Green Mile (which you've seen) and The Shawshank Redemption, which isn't on the list 🤔 Many on the poll are pretty good 😉 (others, not so much) and I've chosen mine. My favorite book is The Stand and I've read it probably two dozen times or more. Other favorites are aforementioned The Green Mile, Dark Tower series, The Shining and it's sequel, and some others not on the list. He's my favorite author 😍 My other favorite book of all time is Shogun by James Clavell, recently adapted as a mini-series on FX. I highly recommend that for a future watch and have read that book more than The Stand. I look forward to seeing what wins the poll 🥰

Misery -- seen and read; excellent movie. Carrie -- not seen or read; very much would like to because of so many cultutral references to it, if nothing else (but I have heard it's good).

Everyone that (understandably) voted for "Misery" should put "Delores Clairborne" on their personal list for another great pairing of Stephen King and Kathy Bates! Indeed, I'd be happiest if Verowak, herself, would just find some "reactor's prerogative" to react to "Delores Clairborne" with Kathy Bates...along with the courageous Jennifer Jason Leigh... and including an amazingly performance by David Strathairn... and an unlikable Christopher Plummer... and an early John C. Reilly... (Ellen Muth must be noted, but explaining why would be a spoiler)
