My 1990's movie pick!!

Movie length: 2h19m04s

Matt Damon in a very different role than I've seen him in! He has a very uncanny stare at times 😨

It actually made me realize that we don't look at the person we are interacting with THAT much. At least not that intently without it being weird.

Jude Law just oozes charisma in everything I've seen him in. I want to see him play an awkward character or something!

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again. You can also hold " ctrl + shift + ] " or control then shift then the ] key on your keyboard when you have a video window active and it will open the pop out

Thank you so much for being here!!

FULL LENGTH REACTION | The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) [2026]

You need your own copy of the media to watch along with me though since this is solely my reaction. The video is there so you can have an idea when the scene changes in case you need to sync up, but it is HEAVILY blurred so I don't have any copyright issues. Enjoy!!

This movie is so stressful and thrilling! It perfectly encapsulates why lying can get out of control - you need to lie to explain your lies in order to explain those other lies. To lift a quote from the Chernobyl miniseries - “Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later that debt is paid”. I have a coworker named Tommy who must hate this movie because I’ve been harassing him with quotes from it for years. Whenever I see him from far away I’ll yell “Hey Tommy! How’s the peeping?…….. Tommy hoooooow’s the peeping? Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy”. Fortunately he’s very tolerant of my peccadillos 😂

It's a great one, Véro! ⛵ Check out the Netflix mini-series RIPLEY (2024). It's an excellent, more expanded version of the tale and closer to the novel.

In addition to the Ripley miniseries (which is basically the same story as this movie) there’s been a few other movies with the Tom Ripley character. They’re based on other Ripley novels. There was one a few years after this called Ripley’s Game with John Malkovich.
