Starting off to an incredibly amazing start 😍

I believe this will be just a lot of fun and... I don't know about Jayne, he's a bit hit and miss so far.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Oh how I love me some sci-fi!

Full Length - FIREFLY Episode 1

You need your own copy of the show to watch along with me though since this is solely my reaction. The video is there so you can have an idea when the scene changes in case you need to sync up, but it is HEAVILY blurred so I don't have any copyright issues. Enjoy!!

Looking forward to watching this with you and seeing your reaction as soon as I get dedicated time later. I probably don't need to say this, (I'm sure you've been briefed about it), but keep in mind that they had story and character development arcs planned over several seasons and got cut halfway thru the first. So be patient with all the characters!

If you pay attention the intro has a major spoiler for the first episode, showing Simon as a major character and River in the crate. For once I kept my fingers crossed and rooted for you NOT to notice something in the reaction.🤣

Yay for Firefly. I’ll be honest, I’d forgotten how amazing the first episode is. The characters are so well defined here. I won’t go over all of them, but I think Jayne’s character is on such a tightrope and can easily go either way. I personally never had an issue with Book going to the fed, I just see it as he wasn’t going to release him to be able to capture Simon and River, just to get him out of harms way so he wouldn’t be killed. But who knows. I believe the crazy ivan manoeuvre was firing the main interplanetary engine in the atmosphere causing a huge fireball (I believe the two side thrusters are all that’s used normally within proximity of planets). I’m sure someone else here can correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t know if it’s because I have close siblings but Simon and River’s relationship hits me so hard. I think this is watch through number 5 for me. I’m excited for you to experience what this show has to offer.

John

Shiny! It's always nice to welcome a new Browncoat.

So excited to enjoy this with you! 😁 IMHO, this is one of the finest science fiction series ever written, from the characters to the writing to the story lines. I know that this topic has been beaten to death many times over the years, but it remains such a crime that Fox ignorantly canceled the series after only 14 episodes! 🤬

Richard Flores

Vero, I absolutely love how on-the-fence you are about Jayne. And that final convo between him and Mal, "What happens when it is?" "Well... that'll be an interesting day." "I imagine it will." First time watching it, gave me chills. Still does. And its awesome how you are so in tune with who Mal is and how he thinks that you already finish his sentences for him. They're still flying. It's enough.

I think Netflix based their cancellation policy on Fox's since Fox is known for cancelling great shows 😡

I feel like everyone else is on one side of the fence or the other. Jayne though? Oooh boy I will watch his career with great interest. Finishing their sentences makes me feel like I understand the character. Mal is a spicy one but I completely get it, and like his character

So Glad you are enjoying Firefly. It is similar to the tale of Darth Plagious of Hollywood. Greed, politics, ego etc. ended it way too early and just was about to become even better! A show with so much to offer will be cut short. Same thing as just recently happened to the Orville. It makes me at least, sad.

John

When you finish the series and before you watch the Serenity movie, there's an introduction to the movie by Joss Whedon. You should definitely watch it before watching the movie - but wait until after you've seen the entire season 1.

John

The biggest reason Firefly was cancelled was Fox. They aired the episodes out of order and kept moving the time slot around. It's amazing the show had any following at all with the treatment Fox gave them.

I have to be stupid or blind or both for not seeing this pop a few days ago! I hate myself for that! The greatest attention to detail in this series is that you do not hear anything happening in the dead of space. We’ve been spoiled for so long by hearing gunfire and engines that we’ve gotten used to it. Here, it’s a brilliant detail that’s I fell in love with! As much as we thought of Kaylee enjoying the strawberry, Jewel Staite actually doesn’t like strawberries. Looking forward to the adventures of the crew of Serenity!! “I aim to misbehave”

You’re not the only one who got reeled in to believing Simon was a little sketchy. Don’t feel bad, welcome to the club, we have matching Brown Coats.

JAKH

When Mal is talking to Kaylee while she is unconscious, he calls her "mei mei", which is Mandarin for "sister".

Hi, thanks for watching Firefly! It is always wonderful to experience it with somebody new. You asked about Inara and the syringe and needle she had as the reavers passed by. You logically guessed this was a way for her to commit suicide. Without giving anything away in the series, it was not for that purpose. Believe it or not, the purpose could be considered even darker than her suicide. This series will take you to all sorts of places, some dark, some light and funny and so much more. Enjoy the show.

I'm so curious about the reavers and really want to see the crew of Serenity deal with them, though I worry for them if that happens lol

I'm still a few weeks behind, but now that the craziness of birthdays/christmas/new years is over, I can finally join you in Firefly! I hope you're liking it so far. :) So stoked to go on this journey with you!

Ooh boy! It's always a super busy time of year, now it's time for things to slow down. I'm so glad this series was created!!

Horses make more Horses, cars make more industries , pollution, and dependency. With every reaction I'm more impressed with you.

Sometimes I listen to what I say during my edits, and wonder how the hell I came up with it 🤣
